I grew up in the countryside. I didn't understand what it brought to me until I became an adult. It helped me learn more practical skills than my peers(同龄人) who grew up in cities. The first skill I learned was making dough(面团). In my hometown of Ningxia, people make noodles from the start of the evening. Since my parents often came home late, a prepared dough would help my family have dinner sooner. I thought it would be easy because I often saw my mum do it— just mix water and flour(面粉), right? Not quite! It was a mess for a while. First, I made the dough too soft. Then, I made it too hard. But as I kept trying, I learned the trick(窍门).

Later, I cooked fried dishes and things like dumplings. I fell in love with cooking. It's a good way to relax.Thanks to my cooking skills, I live a better life when I need to work at home. I cook every meal instead of ordering delivery(外卖). It saves money, and I don't have to wait for delivery drivers to bring me food. This may be why I'm so happy to know that students now have labor(劳动) education at school in China. These practical skills will help us students for the rest of our lives.

Mistakes: The Magical Stepping Stones to Success

Mistakes are not something to be feared or sad about. Instead, they are"playful magicians". Mistakes can turn"Oops" moments into"Wow" experiences! Why are mistakes so magical?

Sometimes, mistakes can make wonderful things. For example, if milk goes bad, it can turn into yogurt. If it changes even more, it becomes cheese. Cheese is even more delicious. Grapes can also surprise us. When they get sour for a long time, they become wine. And wine is much more expensive than the grapes.

Mistakes can also make people famous. Christopher Columbus made a mistake when he tried to find a new road to Asia. Instead, he found America. Alexander Fleming made a mistake in his lab, but it led him to make penicillin(青霉素). The medicine saved millions of lives.

So, instead of being sad about mistakes, we should hug them and keep trying, because mistakes show us new ways to grow smarter. They are like special gifts from life that lead us to wonderful things. The mistakes we make today can become the stepping stones for our success tomorrow.

A wise(明智的) man was on his long journey with a young man. In the evening, they found a small old house. A  family lived in it. The wise man asked how they made a living. In a low voice, the husband ,"We have a cow. We sell her  to our neighbours and keep some for our own ."

The next morning, the two  kept on their journey. After they walked a few miles, the wise man told the young man to go back and kill the cow."If they still keep the cow, they will never be rich," the wise man said. The young man was  about the future of the family. But finally he  to the old house and did as the wise man told him.

A few years later, the young man decided to visit the family. To  surprise, he saw a large house with a beautiful garden there.

He knocked on the door and a well-dressed man answered it. The man told him how his  life changed."We had nothing but a cow to keep us alive years ago. But one day she was killed. We had to come up with new ways of making a living. You see, we are  than before." At his words, the young man smiled.

Once a king got two nice falcons(猎鹰) from his son. He had never seen such beautiful falcons before.He loved them so much and he ordered the best falconer to train them to fly.

After several months, the king came to see how the training was going on. He found that one falcon had already been able to fly high in the sky, while the other was staying on the branch(树枝) of a tree quietly, just keeping still. The king called all his falconers together and ordered them to try every way they could to make the other falcon fly. But none of them succeeded. One day, while the king was taking a walk in the forest, an idea came to his mind. Maybe someone who knew the natural environment well could solve this problem. He sent for a farmer who lived in the forest into his palace to train it at once.

The next morning, the king saw the other falcon flying above in the sky freely."It is unbelievable!"shouted the king."How could you make it happen?" The farmer replied,"It's very easy. I just cut off the branch where the falcon rested." It is always the same to human beings. We all have"two flying wings" in our hearts as well, but we often seem not to notice them and stay where we are just for safety and comfort. We won't realize we can fly so high and freely until the"branch" we are resting on breaks.

Sometimes, families can be hard. People argue a lot. They get upset. Sometimes, they stop talking. Our family has had lots of ups and downs. I'd say arguments often happen in our family, too.

I have an elder brother and an elder sister. I'm the baby boy in the family. We grew up in quite a small house and often didn't have a lot of money. My mum and dad argued, pretty much all the time, just about anything. My brother and sister argued. And I used to argue.

But as I got older, I always chose to be the mediator(调解员). I would try to look at both sides of the argument and bring them together to make peace."Dad, you shouldn't say that to Mum, but Mum, try to see it this way.""Come on, guys, we all love each other. It has just been a bad day." I'd say it often worked.

I learned much growing up in our family: understanding, being patient and the knowledge that sometimes things just don't go your way. We all make mistakes. We all say things that we wish we hadn't. The key is to try and understand. Of course, sometimes, arguments do need to happen. If something is wrong, it needs to be solved and sometimes, we get angry about it. But as long as we can reflect and look at things with an attitude(态度) of care and responsibility, we can weather the storm and help each other out.
