The Silk Road

The Silk Road was not only a road, but also a large group of busy roads that connected China with Europe and the Middle East. It started about 2,230 years ago and played an important role in the development of economic (经济的) and cultural exchanges (交换) across countries.

These old roads had busy business ports (港口). They also had lively markets that were offered as the center for the exchange of products. Silk was one of the most popular products, but many other products also traveled along these roads.
