 The person in my heart is

 Jane was not a confident girl before, because she was fat and others often laughed at her. As a result, Jane became very shy. She was afraid to say hello to strangers. She was afraid to ask simple questions and speak aloud in front of others. It seemed that she was afraid of everything in her life. She used to believe that she would be like this all her life.

 But one day, her friend Paul's words changed her mind. He encouraged Jane to change herself. He said," If you can have a try, you will have a chance to make a difference. But if you never try, your life is only going to get worse." Jane was deeply touched by what Paul said. She thought," Why not have a try? After all, I have nothing to lose."

 The first thing Jane did was losing weight. She had a strict diet and did exercise every day. After 6 months, she lost 90 pounds. This taught her that she could change herself.

A few months later, Jane heard about a speech competition at her university. She plucked up (鼓起) her courage to attend the competition. For the first time, she was able to share her story and speak aloud in front of many people. In the end, she got a big prize!

 After the competition, Jane made a to- do list and started changing rapidly. When she tried her best to finish the things on the list one by one, she felt more and more confident.

 Jane was still making progress now. And she will never stop.

" Stove— boiled tea"(围炉煮茶)— China's newest way to relax

 China's traditional tea- making has became the latest world intangible culture heritage (非物质文化遗产)." Stove- boiled tea" is  a latest" Guo Chao", which is from Tang and Song dynasties. So far, the traditional way of  tea has become a new popularity in China. It puts Chinese culture into people's lives.

 The process of drinking tea has a sense of occasion(仪式感). Usually, before boiling tea, tea  are roasted(烘烤) on a stove. Then they are heated in a pot over a charcoal- filled(木炭) stove.

 The art of boiling tea is a time  with friends or family. People sit around the st ove and have snacks such as fruits, nuts, and desserts with  hot tea. It's a pleasure to chat with friends  having tea. People also post their moments(晒朋友圈) of stove- boiled tea wearing traditional Hanfu. Stove- boiled tea is more of a social activity. It  young people's understanding of drinking tea now.

 Similar to other new lifestyles," stove- boiled tea" shows young people's ideas to get much  to the nature and experience a more peaceful mind. It's  to drink hot tea and chat with best friends.

 Cars make our lives convenient and many people can't live without them. However, they can also be a problem, especially fossil fuel(化石燃料) cars, which cause air pollution. It is widely believed that clean energy and improved fuel technologies can greatly reduce air pollution caused by gas- fueled cars. To improve the environment, many countries are developing electric vehicles (EVs, 电动车). Among them, China is taking a leading role and has created the world's largest EV market.

 In 2023, about 14 million EVs were sold worldwide. The number of EVs sold in China was more than 9 million- about three times as large as the number sold in the United States. Chinese drivers are already big fans of EVs." Charging(充电) an electric car is cheaper than filling up a fossil fuel car with gas," said Mr. Wu, who bought an electric car this year.

 However, there are still some problems. It can be hard to find charging stations and the cars can't go far before needing to be recharged. Some of these problems are being solved. There are more and more charging stations in China. Now China has the world's largest EV charging network, with more than 8, 596,000 charging stations in total.

" Developing EVs is one of many efforts that China has made to reduce pressure on the environment. As China goes, so will the world's auto industry", said The Wall Street Journal . Electric vehicles are really a smart choice for the environment.

It's an exciting picture. The sun, the moon and seven other planets of our solar system(太阳系) stand side by side as a loving 1 .

On a cold morning, members of my robotics team and I were busy heading to Westwood High School for an important robotics (compete). We had worked hard for it by building and programming our own robot.

After setting things up, we headed to the practice field (test) our robot. It needed to drive itself on a 30-second path. On the way, the robot also needed to grab a cone (圆锥体) and put it on a one-meter-high pole. Then, it had to park (it) in a place by detecting a signal.

However, it turned out that our robot wasn't running as (good) as we hoped because the wheels were slipping. My heart was racing as we raced against time to fix our path. We barely finished (fix) the problem on time. But then, the robot stopped connecting to the controlling device. We might not be able to compete if we couldn't fix the problem within 15 minutes. (thank), the captain of another team came to help us.  we faced problems, we were on to the actual matches!

As a new hand, we could feel our adrenaline (肾上腺素) rush as our opponents (对手) were all very experienced. However, thanks  hard work, another team member and I worked perfectly in the driver control part of the matches and won us lots of points. We (give) all our thoughts and energy to the matches, and in the end, we went undefeated! I was overjoyed! There will be one more match at the end of this month, which determines if we can move on to semi-finals. Wish us good luck!

Li Anqiang, who lost his legs in the Wenchuan earthquake, has been working hard to help those like him.

"I hope people like me who have a physical disability as a result of natural disasters (自然灾害) or accidents will one day be able to stand up again," said Li Anqiang.

Li Anqiang, 33, is a therapist (治疗专家) working on prosthetic rehabilitation (假肢康复).  He has also worked since the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008. His legs had to be amputated (截肢) after being buried (掩埋) for a whole day and night.  "To take care of me, my parents had to stop their jobs, and I had no idea what I would do with the rest of my life," he said. He finally plucked up the courage to spend another five months in rehabilitation and training to live with prosthetic legs."

And later he got the chance to study in the US.

At the end of 2019, Li returned to Chengdu and began to make videos on social media about his life with prosthetic legs.  He found that many of them could not walk freely because they didn't have professional rehabilitation exercises. This encouraged him to work on prosthetics and rehabilitation.

" Even though it can be difficult to get around, we should still go out and see the world," Li said. He also hopes that society can be more tolerant (包容的) of those with disabilities. "I hope that one day when we walk down the street with prostheses, we are treated no differently than people with glasses," Li added.

Air pollution is one of the world's invisible killers. It causes seven million deaths a year, making it the largest single environmental health risk. In cities, air pollution is particularly serious. More than 80% of people live in the areas where pollution levels are beyond WHO limits.

One well-established way to reduce air pollution is to plant trees, as their leaves catch and absorb harmful particulates (微粒). But planting new trees is not always a good choice for lack of enough space. That's why the "City Tree", a mobile tree which removes pollutants from the air, has been becoming popular in cities around the world, including Oslo, Paris, Brussels and Hong Kong.

Each City Tree is just under 4 meters tall, nearly 3 meters wide and 2.19 meters deep, acting as a chair or a bench. A screen is included for information or advertising. Berlin-based Green City Organization explains that its invention has the environmental benefit of up to 275 actual trees.

But the City Tree isn't, in fact, a tree at all—it's a moss culture (青苔培植). "Moss cultures have a much larger leaf surface area than any other plant. That means we can catch more pollutants," said Zhengliang Wu, co-founder of Green City Organization.

The huge surfaces of moss in each tree can remove dust, NO₂ and O₃ gases from the air. It requires very little care: solar panels provide electricity, while rainwater is collected into a container and then sent into the soil.

To monitor the health of the moss, the City Tree has sensors which measure soil humidity (湿度), temperature and water quality. "We also have pollution sensors inside the trees, which help monitor the local air quality and tell us how efficient the tree is," Wu said. Its creators say that each City Tree is able to absorb around 250 grams of particulate matter a day and contributes to removing 480 tons of CO₂ a year.

It was the start of Daylight Savings Time (夏令时), the night when we all move our clocks forward an hour. I didn't want to wake up too 1 or sleep in too late. This caused me to overthink things and 2 during the night.
