In Japan, people bow to each other every time they meet. Even family members bow to each other. How low to bow depends on how respected the other person is.

Animals play so many important roles in our lives. Some, like cows and sheep, provide us with food; pets are our friends; other animals work for us. Above all, every animal-big or small-can fill us with a sense of the wonder of the natural world.

The designs of the mascots are inspired by two rare animals found in Sichuan Province: the giant panda and the golden snub-nosed monkey. These mascots have been created to raise awareness about rare animals and biodiversity protection, being in line with TWG's commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

Local cultural elements have been skillfully combined into the mascots' designs, Xu added. Shubao, the giant panda mascot, features Chengdu's city flower, the hibiscus(芙蓉 花 ), in its inner ears, and Jinzai, the golden snub-nosed monkey mascot, has ears transformed from artifacts unearthed from the Sanxingdui site. Their clothes, made with Sichuan brocade(蜀锦), one of China's four famous brocades and a national intangible cultural heritage, depict clear waters and green mountains, and the cultural pattern on them shows the Sun and Immortal Birds Gold Ornament, a symbol of China's cultural heritage.

Scheduled to run from 7th to 17th August next year, the Chengdu World Games is expected to attract more than 4,000 athletes from around the world. Athletes will compete in 35 sports, which will include air sports, fistball(草 地 排 球 ), canoeing, karate and American football. These sports are fashionable, trendy and highly participatory, which perfectly meet the sports needs of modern urban people.

Researchers from the University of Exeter, the UK made a survey on 25,963 people.

They asked people questions about their health conditions, happiness, and lifestyles.

They found that people who lived close to the coast had better physical and mental health than people who lived inland（在内陆）. The result showed that those who lived less than one kilometer from the coast were 22 percent less likely to show any signs of physical and mental health problems. And people who lived more than 50 kilometers from the coast were more likely to have physical and mental health problems. They also found people who visited the coast at least twice a week might experience better physical and mental health as well.

Why is it better to live at seaside? For one thing, water makes us feel close to nature.When we feel worried and anxious because of some difficulties in our life, getting close to nature can make us relaxed. Keeping relaxed is good for our physical health. For another thing, seaside environments usually have less pollution and more sunlight, both of which can lead to better mental and physical health.

You' ve been learning words since you were a tiny baby. At first, you learned them only by hearing other people talk. Now that you' re a reader, you have another way to learn words. What should you do when you come to a word and you think you don't know what it means? Say it.

First, sound it out. Then say it to yourself.  Sometimes you know a word in your head but you don't know what it looks like in print. So if you match up what you know and what you read——you have the word!

Use context.

If this doesn't work, take the next step: look at the context——the other words and sentences around it. Read this sentence. When it rained, the dog looked for shelter in the doorway.  Rain and in the doorway might give you helpful information.

If the context doesn't help, look at the parts of the word. Does it have any parts you know?These can help you understand what it means. If you don't know the meaning of miner, try looking at parts of the word. You might know that a mine is a place underground where people get coal and other valuable things. A lot of times,-er at the end of a word means"a person who does something". So a miner might be someone who works in a mine.

Look it up.

If the three steps above don't work, you can look it up.  Either a book or online.Nobody knows the meaning of every word, but good readers know how to understand words they don't know.

Researchers from the Yale Child Study Center collected 21 days of daily diaries from parents and teens from 151 families. Participating teens were in the 9th and 10^th grades,  from 13 to 16years old. By analyzing these diaries, the researchers could connect parents'  with daily fluctuations(变 动 ) in how loved their teens were feeling."The daily methodology is suited to providing caregivers with  suggestions for daily life," says Beata Ujvari.

The researchers found that teens reported feeling more loved on days when parents reported showing more warmth in the form of affection, understanding, or praise. , teens reported feeling less loved on days when parents reported more conflicts than usual. More importantly, the researchers also found that parents could  the impact of conflicts by showing their teens warmth. In other words,  days when parents were warm, high levels of conflicts didn't reduce how loved teens felt.

To weaken conflicts' impact, warmth had to  on the same day, but the warmth and conflicts did not need to be related, the researchers said.

"Parents often complain about the conflicts they are  with their children," said John Coffey, the study's lead author,"but our study suggests conflicts are manageable."

The study adds to a(an)  number of evidence suggesting daily fluctuations in feeling loved are common even in long-term relationships. How parents and teens communicate and resolve conflicts may be most important to maintaining a healthy relationship in the long term,said the researchers.

"The study findings are particularly useful right now," added Coffey,"because parents and their children are spending much time together.  ways to be kind and warm will help lessen potential conflicts and ensure children feel loved."

The San Fermin Festival, internationally known as the"Running of the Bulls", is by far Spain's biggest international party. Millions of visitors journey to Pamplona, Spain annually to attend this amazing festival. It occurs every July 6th—14th, during which different events are held each day, including bullruns, bullfights, parades, and firework shows.

The festival is held to honor San Fermin, the patron saint(守护圣人) of Pamplona. It's a mystery where and how he died, but the citizens believe he died as a result of being pulled through the streets by bulls. This is why citizens take part in the running of the bulls, even though a majority of the runners are tourists who seldom know about San Fermin.

The festival starts with a rocket blast at noon on July 6th. The party atmosphere in the town is incredible, with everyone wearing the traditional San Fermin clothing:a white T-shirt and a red handkerchief around the neck. Although there are many activities and events throughout the festival, the famous running of the bulls is the main part. Actually, the festival was just a traditional festival like those in every little town and city in Spain. It would have stayed that way if not for Ernest Hemingway, who wrote about the running of the bulls in his novel The Sun Also Rises.

Every morning at 8 am from July 7th to 14th during the festival, the runners are chased by six bulls and six steers throughout the streets of Pamplona for about 850 meters until reaching the city's bullring, where bullfights take place.

At 8 o' clock, the first of four fireworks is launched, indicating that the corral(畜栏) door is opened. It's time for the runners to start running. The second firework explosion indicates that all the bulls have left the corral. Once all the bulls have reached the bullring and the door of the bullring is closed, the third firework is launched. The final firework indicates that all the bulls are locked at the bullring's corral. Once in a while, however, the herd of bulls separates, making it even more dangerous. That is why the four firework rockets are so important.

On the night of July 14th, as midnight gets closer, people start to gather in the square in front of the town hall, singing a traditional farewell song.
