Wang Jiaji, a 16-year-old girl from the Experimental High School Attached to Beijing Normal University, opened a special ice cream store in Beijing, China. She would like to spread a healthier way to enjoy ice cream.

She and her friends love ice cream, but they never found an ice cream that really surprised them. Then one day, her mom's friend told her that she had the best ice cream at a coffee shop in a little town in Germany. She wanted to go there and try it herself. Wang was lucky enough to be able to go to the town last summer. She even worked as a waitress (女服务员) in the coffee shop selling ice cream. She was not only able to taste it herself, but also learn about the healthy way of making it.

At the time, the ice cream was only sold to some coffee shops and hotels in Germany. But after discussions with the brand (品牌) management, Wang was told that she could sell their ice cream. She could open the first ice cream shop in China, recruiting (招聘) people was also a huge project. Many people showed their interests in the job. Wang interviewed everyone. During the interview, she realized that she knew nothing about opening a store. Luckily, she found some good helpers.

Wang believes that starting a business begins with something small and is a step-by-step process (过程). Wang said, "I think business is about noticing problems and needs around you and wanting to do something about it,"

"A child with a mother is like a treasure." This song shows that mother means the whole world to her child.

When you were a baby crying all night, your mom sang to you and stayed by your side. When you fell and hurt  (you), she gave you a hug and lifted you up. When you didn't get what you wanted, when you were sad, when your mother was always there to help you. She is a mother who is common and wants nothing in return at all.

Wang Yaping and Zhang Guimei are just such great mothers. We  (move) by them.

Wang Yaping is the  (one) Chinese woman to live in the Tiangong station and the female (女性) Chinese space walker (太空行走者). She is also a 6-year-old girl's mother. Before setting out, she promised  (pick) a star for her daughter. Six months later, Wang Yaping came back and told her little daughter, "Mom has returned after reaching for the stars."She achieved her promise(successful). She is an unusual mother.

Zhang Guimei is the headmaster of Huaping Girls High School in Lijiang. She went out of her way to raise money to set up this school. It offers free education to girls in the mountains. In the past 13 years, she  (send) 1,800 girls to university. Zhang Guimei's effort and love have changed their  (life).    she doesn't have her own child, she is a selfless (无私的) mother to these girls. 

Mother plays important role in our lives. All the mothers have one thing  common: Full love in their eyes, bright light in their hearts.

One day, a scientist decided to experiment with a shark. She put a shark in a big water tank (箱) and added some small fish for the shark to eat. As expected, the shark swam around the tank and 1 the little fish.

The relationship between parent and child can be one of the longest-lasting connections in a person's life. Over the course of that relationship, it's normal to feel a lot of emotions（情绪）, from anger to support and connection. As teenagers, how can you feel and express love for your parents, even when things aren't always easy? 

Spend time together. Shared activities help build a sense of connection. For example, if you really like rock climbing, invite your parents to an easy climbing wall with you.  And after climbing with you, your parents may be more supportive of your hobby.

Talk to your parents about the things they do that bother （烦扰）you. If your parents don't know what's bothering you, they can't try to change themselves. Choose a quiet and relaxing moment to have this conversation, and notice that you might have to revisit（再次讨论）these topics many times. 

Talk to your parents about the challenges you're facing. Your parents are likely to have useful experience and advice about topics like study, relationship, and growing up. Open dialogue about these topics will take your relationship better.

 Ask yourself: What might scare or worry me, if I were the parent of a teenager? Getting inside your parents' mind will help you understand your parents more. 

With work, any relationship can be improved. Try to love your parents when you're a teenager, and you will find they are the very people who love and care for you most in the world.

Everyone knows how to find the age of a fallen tree. We count the number of rings of the tree. And recently a scientist has found a new way to measure (衡量) the age of people—get them to stand on one leg. Dr Kenton Kaufman from the Mayo Clinic in the USA said standing on one leg shows how well a person can balance (平衡). He said balance becomes more difficult as we get older. Dr Kaufman added: "Balance is an important measure because, in addition to physical strength (力量), it requires input from sight, the hearing, and the senses." He added: "Good balance provides the ability to carry outactivities of daily living without the fear of falling, and this leads to improved life and healthy aging."

40 people over the age of 50 took part in the research. They did tests for walking, balance, grip (抓握) and knee strength. Each person had to balance on their dominant (主导的) and non-dominant leg for 30 seconds. They did this with their eyes closed, and again with their eyes open. Kaufman found that standing on the non-dominant leg showed the fastest drop with age. For every ten years, there was a 2.2-second drop when people stood on their non-dominant leg. This compared to 1.7 seconds for the dominant leg. Kaufman said: "Standing on one leg is a good measure of your overall health because balance reflects how the body parts are working together."

A skywell, or "tian jing", is typical feature of a traditional home in southern and eastern China, which can date back to Ming and Qing dynasties. A skywell is almost always in the center of a house, meaning there're rooms on four sides or three sides and a wall. It acts as a transitional (过渡的) space between indoor life and the outdoor environment.

Before the invention of air-conditioning, southern China's skywells played a key role in keeping people's homes cool. When wind blows above a skywell house, it can enter the indoor space through the opening. As the cool outdoor air travels down the walls to the lower floors, it replaces warmer indoor air, making the bottom of the skywell stay cool. Even when there is no natural wind, air circulation (循环) still takes place, because the temperature is different between the top and bottom of the skywell. Moreover, another part of the cooling affect comes from the evaporation (蒸发) of water. People collect rainwater in their skywells, and when the water evaporates, it cools hot air.

Today, although fewer and fewer people live in skywell houses, some designers take a new interest in the traditional Chinese buildings. They are getting creative ideas from skywells to help keep new buildings cooler. One example is the National Heavy Vehicle Engineering Technology Research Center （NHVETRC）(国家重型汽车工程技术研究中心) in Jinan, which was completed in 2022. The 18-floor glass-walled tower building has a huge skywell in the middle, from the fifth to the top floor. The lifts, toilets and meeting rooms are all set around the skywell, which helps improve the lighting and air circulation of the building and then cut the use of energy.
