Who Invented TETRIS?

Have you ever played a famous video game called Tetris? It is a very fun game. If you have played it before, you know it is hard to stop playing once you start. If you have never played it, don't worry, because it is very easy to learn.

When you play Tetris, you see an empty box on the screen. Pieces of different shapes fall from the top of the screen. These falling pieces are called Tetriminos. The player needs to move and turn the pieces carefully. The goal is to make a full, unbroken horizontal (平行的) line with no empty spaces. When you successfully make a full line, the line disappears, and you get points. But you must be careful! The game ends if the pieces pile up and touch the top of the box. Also, as you play for a longer time, the pieces will fall faster and faster. This makes the game more and more difficult.

Today, Tetris is one of the most popular and best-selling video games in the world. But do you know who invented it? A Russian computer engineer named Alexey Pajitnov created the game in the year 1984. He got the wonderful idea from his favorite board game.

Tetris became a big hit very quickly. At first, people only played it on computers. But soon, people could play it on other machines. It became very popular on Nintendo's Game Boy. Later, in 1996, Alexey started the Tetris Company.

Did you know that Tetris was the first video game ever played in space? In 1993, a Russian man named Aleksandr Serebrov played it on his Game Boy while he was traveling in a rocket!

Tetris is not just a fun game. It is also good for your brain. In a 2009 study, scientists asked some kids to play Tetris for about 30 minutes every day for three months. This helped certain parts of the kids' brains grow bigger and stronger.

Many people love playing Tetris. However, some people play it too much. They spend so much time on the game that they even see the Tetriminos falling in their dreams at night! People call this the "Tetris Effect."

Playing games is fun, but always remember to ask your parents for permission first. Also, remember to set a time limit and not play for too long!

It was a cold day in winter, but all the family got into Uncle Tom's truck (卡车) to head for our forest picnic. There were seven kids and Uncle Tom, Uncle Scotty and my mom. What a noise we made! Everybody was excited about the picnic as we had been planning it for weeks.

We arrived at the forest at 11:00 am and stopped the truck. Uncle Scotty took out our things from the back and we were all given something to carry. We had walked only a few steps before Carla dropped her bag. Eggs and tomatoes went everywhere. We were able to pick up a few of the eggs, but some of them became food for the lizards (蜥蜴)!

Finally, we got to the picnic area, which was close to a beautiful lake. My mom had made many sandwiches and handed them around. After lunch, Robbie and I went down to the lake to look for tadpoles (蝌蚪). A couple of the older girls even went swimming, but it was too cold for me. We packed (打包) everything up and made sure not to leave any rubbish behind.

The walk back to the truck was lots of fun until Marco decided that eating eight sandwiches hadn't been very clever. Up came his lunch all over the place and we had to run away from him for cover! Even so, we had one of the best days ever.

·Toileting of children is provided during the movie. Parents please tell children that they only need to ask a friendly worker if they need to go. They are more than happy to help
