Lisa was born in a beautiful small village. A river flew through it and she spent a lot of happy time there before moving to the city. The river was like a mother to the villagers, however, they never looked after it. "They  (pollution) the river almost every day, " Lisa said. According to her, the villagers just threw their waste into the river. No one thought this action was  (care) and wrong. Over time, the water turned dark and smelt terrible. 

The villagers began to realize their mistake when they couldn't drink the water or catch fish for food. One day, they got together and made a  (decide). They needed to stop the pollution. They took out the rubbish in the river and planted trees along the riverbank. A few months later, the river became clean again. This  (satisfy) all the villagers greatly. "I'm so glad we've saved the river, the animals and plants there and also ourselves, " Lisa looked proud, just like a  (win). Actually, being nice to nature is important to everyone. 

Tony lived in a small town. He made a living by painting portraits. One day, a rich man asked Tony to paint a portrait for him and promised to pay 10, 000 dollars. 

After a week, the rich man came to find Tony for his painting. When he saw his face in the painting, the rich man suddenly thought to himself, "The man in the painting is me. If I don't buy this painting, no one else will buy it. " So he said to Tony, "What a terrible portrait! It doesn't look like me at all! I won't pay you anything. "

Hearing this, Tony's face turned red and shouted loudly, "You can't do that! I spent time painting this portrait with all my heart!"

"Well, if you say so, I will only pay 1, 000 dollars for it. Will you sell it?" said the rich man. 

Tony said firmly, "No! I will never be humiliated (被侮辱) in this way!"

After that, Tony worked hard day and night. Years passed, and the young man finally became well known in the art world. 

The rich man forgot about Tony and what happened between them. But one day, a friend came, "Oh! I was looking for you! I just visited an art show. You know what? There is a painting in the central place with no price.  4  The painting's title is ‘Cheater'. "

Then, the rich man remembered the artist and his face turned red at once. He quickly went to apologize and paid for the portrait. The young painter made the rich man keep his promise in the end. 

A lot of years ago, the life was very difficult. On a cold morning, most children had to get up before the sun rose. There was much work for them to do. Only some lucky children could go to school. Most kids had to spend their days working. 

Boys had to work on the farm. They had to work many hours both in winter and in summer. 

Girls had to help their mothers cook or wash clothes by hand! They might make butter (黄油). It was hard to do that. 

The life a lot of years ago was very different from the life today. It was a hard life. 

Li Ying's team practiced hard for the coming drama show. One day, she found Jiang Fang and Shi Qingqing got angry and stopped talking with each other. After Li Ying knew the reason, she held a meeting. 

"Now we have disagreements. Jiang Fang wants to end the show with a song. But Shi Qingqing thinks we should wave (挥手) to say goodbye. "

Some teammates said, "I think Jiang Fang is right. A song can show our feelings better. "

Others shook their heads and said, "Waving to audience (观众) can show our respect. "

"Why not try both of these methods (方式)?" An idea came in Li Ying's mind. All the students thought it was a good idea. 

On a sunny Friday, the drama show finally came. Li Ying's team did a good job and all the students and teachers liked their show. Jiang Fang and Shi Qingqing felt excited after the show. They were sorry for what they did before. But it's okay to have different ideas. The important thing is that we solve problems through discussing and making progress (进步), isn't it?

②Trees help to keep the air clean and make us healthy. They take in dirty (脏的) air and give clean air to us. Go for a walk in the park in the morning, and it is nice to be with many trees and clean air. 

③Trees are very  ▲ . They give us many kinds of beautiful flowers and delicious fruits like apples and oranges. Trees give homes to insects (昆虫), birds and other animals. Even the sap (汁液) of trees can be the food for insects. 

④We can use trees in many ways. But we are hurting (伤害) them and they can't grow back quickly. We cut down trees to make paper, desks and chairs. Also, we sometimes clear the forest to build houses, shops and so on. Many animals lose (失去) their homes because of this. 

⑤It is time for us to stop hurting our great friends—trees. Don't use so much paper and join in tree-planting activities. All of us can do something for our friends!

Walk for Health

Try to walk to school! Keep the time and steps (步) with your watch (表) every day. You can get a prize (奖品) at the end of this week.
