Tanghulu is a special and sweet childhood (童年) memory of many Chinese people. When winter comes，you can see people selling tanghulu on streets. Bright red in colour，with a perfect sweet­and­sour taste，tanghulu is a popular traditional snack in most parts of Northern China. 

In the past，people mainly used the haws (山楂) to make tanghulu. But now，people prefer to use other fruits like oranges，bananas，grapes and strawberries. To make the perfect tanghulu ， you can follow these steps：

Prepare what you need：Haws or any other fruit，white sugar and water. 

Step 1：Start with washing the haws or any other fruit you choose. Then，dry the fruit. Don't forget this step. 

Step 2：Put the fruit on bamboo sticks. 

Step 3：Add water and white sugar to a pan and then mix them well. Heat the pan until bubbles (气泡) appear and make sure the colour of white sugar changes. It is the key to making perfect tanghulu. 

Step 4：Now，dip (浸) each fruit stick into the sugar mixture to coat the fruit. Remember to turn it to coat all of the sides. 

Step 5：Place each stick on a plate. Remember to leave enough space between each other to stop them from sticking. After a few minutes，you can taste them. 

These are the whole steps. You can have a try at home. Try with different kinds of fruits to see which taste you like best.

There are about 12，000 different kinds of ants on land and they probably everywhere around us. They live in groups. They use their antennae (触角) to smell，touch and with each other. 

Ants are  insects，but some ants can carry 50 times their body weight.  ， they have some special abilities including (包括) their great communication skills. They use these skills to work together to find food，build their homes and  their places. 

Ants have strong with our environment (环境). They help to break down dead plants and animals to keep the earth healthy. Ants also help to spread pollen one plant to another，which helps the plants to grow. What's more，they are important food for many animals. 

Ants play an important  in our world，but some of them are in danger. So we should try  best to protect them. 

Bamboo is a wonderful plant for many people around the world. People make tables，clothes，medicine and musical instruments with it. Pandas may eat bamboo every day，and people can also eat it. 

Some bamboo grows so quickly that people say they can watch it grow. The speed of growth depends on the type of bamboo，the earth   and the season. A bamboo can grow  3—10 cm a day. It usually grows in tropical (热带的) areas. Bamboo plants are found in Asia，Australia，parts of Africa，and South America. 

One of the world's oldest building materials is bamboo. Like today，people use it because it's very strong. The Chinese made a bamboo bridge over the Min River in Sichuan，China almost 1，000 years ago. Also，bamboo is still used to make houses today，especially in China and the Philippines.
