We often think humans are special because we can show many feelings.  The large hairy bees called bumblebees can do this too. Do you want to know more?

In the study, researchers found that good moods can be spread even among insects with small brains.The bee felt happy and changed its behaviour with the sugar water. It became more willing to land on different types of flowers. Other bees nearby also began acting more cheerfully, even though they didn't get any sugar water.

 To  answer  this  question,  the research team did many"isolation(隔离)" tests.With special tools, they isolated the possible signal channels(信号通道) of the bees one by one, ineluding those for smelling, touching and seeing. When a bee watches a"happy"bee fly actively, it will become happy too. If they are prevented seeing each other, the happy moods will be completely cut off—— even when the two bees are very close.

The finding shows bees can understand others' positive feelings. This is called positive affective cognition(积极情感认知). Before this study, we didn't know insects like bees could do this.

So, when we see a bee flying around in the garden, it might be spreading more than just pollen(花粉)—— it could be spreading joy!

In modern society, energy plays an important role in human activities. Generally, fossil fuels(化石燃料) are limited and unfriendly to our environment, while wind and water energy, though clean,  can be easily influenced by weather conditions. The present nuclear plants(核电站)probably harm  our  environment.  There is nothing like the sun to provide humans with unlimited clean energy. Under the guidance of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, Chinese scientists are working harder to build a kind of"artificial(人造的) sun".

What is it like? Of course, it's not the sun above our heads that provides energy for lives on Earth. In fact, it's a special machine designed to make the nuclear fusion(核聚变) happen,similar to that of the sun. Nuclear fusion happens when lighter atomic nuclei(原子核) join together to form heavier atomic nuclei. Through this process, a huge amount of energy is produced.Unlike the present nuclear energy production method, this new way is environmentally friendly,

However, producing practical energy from a nuclear fusion machine has many requirements,such as reaching temperatures above 100 million degrees for thousands of seconds. It is a must for the continuous energy production. That is very hard to achieve. Besides, making sure of its controllability is also a challenge.

A report presented by Chinese scientists said that China's controllable nuclear fusion energy development is entering a decisive period.The machines, such as the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, or EAST in Hefei,have set world records by keeping temperatures above 100 million degrees for more than 1,000seconds.  It means inside the test machines,humans have created the needed environment for future fusion plants for the first time. So far, no other country in the world has made this achievement. China's fusion research has developed a lot in recent years. In November2025, China put forward a research plan to build the BEST machine, China's next-generation(下一代)"artificial sun". Once completed by the end of 2027, BEST will do tests and check its working abilities.

Even though there are many challenges,China has been making great progress in fusion energy with world records continuously broken.Controllable nuclear fusion, as one of the main projects during our country's 15th Five-Year Plan period, brings the hope of clean and rich energy a step closer to reality.

Mao Haofu, born in 1989, comes from Jinggangshan, Jiangxi Province. The JinggangMountains are known as the"cradle(摇篮) of the Chinese revolution(革命)". This area is a symbol of the Chinese people's spirit of overcoming(克服) difficulties with hard work.

Mao Haofu's grandfather spent his whole life passing on this spirit. Growing up in such a family, Mao saw the spirit as part of his life. At the age of 27, he gave up a well-paid job to continue his family's work.

Back in Jinggangshan, he started to spread red culture, including the revolutionary history,great spirit and heroic stories. To make tourists have a deeper understanding of the history, Mao

designed some special activities, such as walking down the Red Army Trail(红军小道), helping people feel more connected to the past.  In addition, to make the history known to more people around the world,  Mao makes shortEnglish videos about red culture, winning high praise from many people.

Mao's work, however, goes far beyond that. He also makes short videos to sell local products like the famous sweet fruit honey pomelo. In order to introduce the fruit to more people, he often stays up late to make these videos patiently. With his help,____the sweet fruit is sold all over the country.  Mao also helps villagers manage hotels and teaches them how to serve tourists well. With Mao and the local people's hard work, more and more tourists are attracted there and the local people's lives improve a lot.  Those small mountain villages turn into lively places.

Because of his efforts, Mao was honoured with the New Era Youth Pioneer(新时代青年先锋奖) of 2025. Those mountains are silent witnesses to what Mao has done. For him, the past and the future are of the same importance.He will keep on walking along the path, lighting up the way forward.

Colin's illness made him stay in bed all day. He became very bad-tempered and always shouted at others.  Sometimes he even threw things at his servants(仆人).

One day, his best friends Mary and Dickon came to visit him as usual.  Colin's face was white, looking sad and tired. Mary and Dickon thought it was time to tell Colin about the secret garden.

"Colin, we're going to take you to a special place, but you must keep it secret!" said Mary.

Colin's eyes grew bigger, curious about the secret place.

The next day, Mary and Dickon carried Colin downstairs and put him in the wheelchair.Mary looked around to make sure that no one was watching.  Then she picked up the key under a big bush and opened the door of the seeret garden.  Diekon pushed the wheelchair quickly inside.

Iti the garden, Colin looked round and round. He listened to the sweet sound of the birds singing, and he felt the warm sun on his face. His pale skin started to become pink as he breathed in the good, fresh air. That day, the world changed for Colin,

From then on, Colin even followed Dickon to do some simple exercise in the wheelchair. He went to the secret garden with Mary and Dickon nearly every day.

Something amazing happened in the secret garden that spring and summer.  At first,everything turned green. Then the green changed to colours—— blue, purple and red. There were flowers everywhere. The garden was so beautiful that Colin wanted to walk freely in it, but he was afraid that he couldn't.

"I believe that there is magic in the garden.The magic made all the plants grow strong. It can make you grow strong too," Mary said to Colin.

Encouraged by Mary, Colin tried to pull himself up out of his wheelchair.  And with Dickon's help, he stood up straight and tall.

"Look at me," he shouted."Just look at me!"

Colin stayed standing. Suddenly, he stopped feeling afraid.

"I'm not the poor boy who is always ill,"he cried.

On New Year's Eve, it snowed heavily outside. My mum and I decorated our home to welcome the new year.

As an international student at Nantong University, I was lucky to be part of the special activity — Promoting Jianghai Culture in Nantong. It was an unforgettable experience that connected me deeply with the soul of this amazing city.

The producer announced the public celebration would be on TV on May 8th. In late April, a team came to my university to find students for a special performance. But I was on a study trip in Nanjing then. When I came back, my friends and teachers helped me get a chance to try out. The rehearsal (排练) had already started. Luckily, I didn't miss it.

At first, we practised in our university. But the choreographer (编舞) kept changing the script. That meant we had to try our dance steps and the song all over again. In the end, it was worth it.

We performed to a new song called China Fun Together. The foreign students were asked to act only the last part. But getting it right in just 10 days was really hard.

The big day got closer. We practised all day at Nantong Theatre, from morning to night. But with only one day left, we faced a sad possibility: If the producers were not satisfied, our performance could be cut from the final show.

As I joined late, I started at the back, but I didn't give up. I practised every day. Finally, I made it. Just hours before the show, I was moved from the back row to the front.

Since then, I've been a storyteller of Jianghai culture, sharing with the world the harmony of this land.

This is more than a memory — it's my role in building bridges of understanding across cultures.

After years of researches and tests, a new kind of meat, cell-cultivated (细胞培育的) meat has slowly entered the US food market. It is believed to be a good c for people's daily diets with lower cost and risk.

However, not everyone will athis new food. Some health groups and common people are doubtful about it. The latest survey shows that most customers, ethe elderly, are not ready to treat it as their daily food, some even refuse to taste it. They insist that cell-cultivated meat does not come from the real animals. To them, the biggest pis that this kind of man-made food is unnatural. More than 90% of animals are raised for food on fThey need to eat special food, take some medicine, and even have their genes changed.

Some animal protectors also point out a serious problem. Making cell-cultivated meat is unfair to some certain living animals. It rcells from them in the early stage of production. But even so, this process is still much kinder to animals than tways of farming and raising. Because cell-cultivated meat can greatly reduce animal killings. Many health experts advise people to eat more plant-based food. Yet most people are not willing to ctheir eating habits because of the taste and cultural customs.

Acell-cultivated meat still has some disadvantages, it may help reduce the influence on health and the environment. It can also save countless animals from killing and improve public health. Therefore, people need to do fresearch on it.

Whether you decide to try cell-cultivated meat or not, the research is far from over.

Yu the Great is one of the most famous legendary figures in ancient Chinese history. He is widely known for controlling and(stop) serious floods. And he set up the Xia Dynasty (c. 21st century — 16th century

BC), the first dynasty in Chinese history. His story fully shows the wisdom of ancient people. So far, his spirit(influence) Chinese people from generation to generation.

Long time ago, terrible floods hit the areas along the Yellow River almost every year. The big floods destroyed people's houses and farms, making their lives hard and poor. Yu's father once tried his best to control the floods.

 (luck), all his efforts ended in failure. After his father passed away, Yu decided to continue this difficult task.

 (lead) the flood water to the sea instead of stopping it forcefully, he spent years digging new rivers.

Compared with his father, Yu improved the water channels with a(good) way.

With a devoted heart, Yu was so busy controlling the floods that he passed his home three times(with) going in to see his family. He always asked his followers to look after(they) when feeling tired, but he himself almost never stopped working. Finally, his hard work paid off. He put an end to the terrible floods.

His great work not only saved the lives of thousands of people but also provided(help) people there with a safe environment.

Because of his great contributions and noble qualities, Yu(win) great respect from all people at that time. Even today, the story of Yu the Great is still popular among Chinese people. Many students in schools(encourage) to learn from him. As long as we stick to our goals and keep moving forward, we will finally achieve the impossible.
