The natural world gives plenty of helpful lessons for life. Whether looking at the ocean or sitting under a big oak tree, we can find comfort and strength from simply watching nature do its thing.
"Even resting your hand on one of these ancient trees feels like you are giving over your cares to a great old friend," writes Isabel Hardman, writer of The Natural Health Service.
She is not alone. Research by Professor (专家) Miles Richardson shows that when people spend time in nature and feel closely connected to trees, they experience greater happiness and lower levels of anxiety, stress, and sadness. In his research, Richardson asked people to write down three good things that happened in daily lives or those that happened in nature every day for one week. The results showed that both tasks improved life happiness. However, when people wrote about nature, they felt more connected to others and the natural world, and also felt more thankful and encouraged.
There are positive wider influences too. Feeling more connected to nature can lead to green behaviour — people were more likely to protect nature. For example, they may plant trees, reuse more, or use less plastic.
"Next time you walk through your school, take a moment to notice the trees," says Richardson. "Their presence, different kinds and beauty might be doing more for your mental health (心理健康) than you realise. Connection doesn't require wilderness — just paying notice to the life around us."
(1)、How can we find comfort and strength from nature?(2)、What does Isabel Hardman compare an ancient tree to?(3)、What did people feel when they wrote about nature? (15词以内)(4)、According to paragraph 4, what can feeling more connected to nature lead to? (15词以内)(5)、Do you want to spend more time in nature after reading the passage? Why or why not? (15词以内) -

Hello! I am a polar bear. My family and I live in the Arctic (北极). It is a very cold world full of ice and snow. We have thick fur (皮毛) to keep us warm. We also need to get fat to stay healthy, so we eat a lot when we can find food.
Ice is very important for us to find food. We mainly eat seals (海豹). We are good swimmers, but we cannot swim fast enough to catch seals in open water. So we stay on the ice. Seals make small holes in the ice to breathe. We wait quietly beside these holes for seals to come up. When the time is right, we catch them quickly. That is how we get our food.
But now the world is getting warmer. The ice is becoming smaller and thinner. Without ice, it is hard for us to catch seals. Scientists say by 2100, most polar bears may disappear from the Earth if nothing changes.
Time is running out. Please help us and give us hope.

Imagine having the robotic legs in the picture. You can put them on in seconds. Light and smart, this newly invented robotic exoskeleton (外骨骼机器人) makes hiking and climbing much easier.
The exoskeleton is designed to be worn around a user's waist (腰部) and legs. Its built-in AI technology can sense a person's movements in real-time. When you walk uphill, the device (装置) adds power to your steps and reduces pressure on the legs, making it feel like you are being gently pushed forward during a climb.
Developed by a company in Shenzhen, the device has quickly drawn international attention. Hundreds of tourists have tried it while hiking. One day, when you buy something online from another country, it might arrive in just a few hours—by rocket (火箭).
On May 29, Sepoch, a Chinese company in Beijing, successfully tested sending over 20 kilograms of packages (包裹) using a rocket, reported Xinhua. The rocket flew for 125 seconds before landing in the sea near Shandong province, where workers picked it up. Sepoch said the rocket was in great shape after the test.
This was a big step in developing point-to-point rocket transport. The technology could greatly change global logistics (全球物流), because rockets can travel halfway around the world in just 60 or 90 minutes, according to The Space Review.
The amazing speed comes from something called "gravity assist (重力助推)", said Nautilus magazine. When the rocket goes up into space, Earth's gravity tries to pull it back down. Scientists can use this pull like a slingshot (弹弓) to make the rocket go faster with little energy as it heads back to Earth.
Right now, the technology is too expensive for everyday use. ▲, making reusable rockets with stainless steel (不锈钢), like the one tested this time, can help, experts at Sepoch told Xinhua. Stainless steel is also very good at taking heat and pressure, which is important for space trips.
Experts believe that using rockets to transport online shopping packages could help make more money for space industry research and development. In 2024 alone, China transported 174.5 billion packages—more than 124 for every person in the country, said China Daily.
(1)、What does Sepoch's test show?A、Cities along the sea are important for transportation. B、Rockets may help send online shopping packages. C、Rockets still have problems landing in certain areas. D、There will be a high demand for workers to collect packages.(2)、What role does Earth's gravity play in rocket transport?A、It makes the rocket stick to its path. B、It helps the rocket fly higher. B、Rocket transport can support the space industry. C、China's transportation industry is well developed. D、Space technology will make online shopping easier. -

On the evening of November 9, 2025, the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games of the People's Republic of China started at the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center. As the first National Games co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, it made a historic breakthrough.
With the theme "Realizing Dreams for the Future", the 20,000-square-meter stage had a "concentric circle" design and no complex machines. The cultural show was divided into three parts. It used advanced technologies like AR and holography (全息投影) to show Lingnan lion dance, Cantonese opera and Wing Chun (咏春) in a creative way. Andy Lau (刘德华) sang the classic song "Chinese People". Other artists from the Greater Bay Area, such as Joey Yung (容祖儿) and Jordan Chan (陈小春), also gave great performances. These shows made the audience feel strong patriotism and a shared sense of regional identity. Famous landmarks like the Canton Tower and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge were shown in amazing light and shadow shows, which reflected the deep integration of the Greater Bay Area (大湾区).
The mascots "Xiyangyang (喜洋洋)" and "Lerongrong (乐融融)" were designed after Chinese white dolphins. They had three colorful splashes on their heads, which symbolized unity. The torch's flame was collected from 1,522 meters under the South China Sea and passed around the region. Finally, torchbearers from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao—including the famous sprinter Su Bingtian—lit the main cauldron together. Singers Zhou Shen and Shan Yichun ended the ceremony wonderfully with the theme song "Heaven and Sea as One".
A total of 14,252 athletes and nearly 50,000 volunteers took part in the games. The opening ceremony was more than a sports event; it perfectly showed the unique charm of the Greater Bay Area and China's lively sporting spirit to the whole world.

D、It was co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.(2)、What can we infer about the "concentric circle" stage design?A、It needed many complex machines to build. B、It was too small for the cultural performance. C、It was copied from other sports events. D、It might symbolize unity among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.(3)、Why were Lingnan lion dance, Cantonese opera and Wing Chun shown in the performance?A、To introduce traditional culture of the Greater Bay Area. B、To show that these arts are more popular than others. C、To let foreign artists learn Chinese traditional arts. What secrets are hidden in this small stone?

One day,he found a small yellow stone. It looked like amber. He knew amber came from ancient trees.Did that mean his hometown was once a forest? With a magnifier,he watched the stone closely.Inside,he saw a tiny insect.Could it be a new species from millions of years ago?Later,a biologist proved David's guesses were right. The amber unlocked the secrets of nature. How amazing!

Mary did an experiment to explore nature. She wondered why green leaves turn yellow in autumn.Mary asked her brother about it. So she put green leaves in alcohol(酒精),and then put a paper strip inside. After a few minutes, the paper showed green, yellow, and orange. These colours hide in leaves! When the green disappears in autumn, the other colours will show.
