The 2026 Winter Olympics started in Italy in February this year. Milan and Cortina are the two beautiful host  (city) of this great event.

The opening ceremony was wonderful. It took place  a famous sports stadium in Milan. Players from 80 countries  (walk) into the stadium one by one. People cheered  (loud) for their favourite players. They became even more excited when Mariah Carey, an American singer, gave  fantastic show.

The Games have a new sport — skimo. Players first go up a mountain on skis (滑雪板). Then they take off  (they) skis and walk up. They can  (move) quickly when climbing in this way. In the end, they ski down the mountain fast. This sport is  (hard) than many other winter sports. And it  (become) one of the most popular events at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The Games are about winning, friendship  hard work. They can also help people from different countries understand each other better through this event.

Tofu is a famous traditional food from China. It has a long history of 2,000 years.  the Western Han Dynasty, Liu An, a famous man, made tofu for the first time. He made it from  soybeans.

At the beginning, tofu was only in China. Chinese people liked it because it was cheap, healthy and tasted delicious. They cooked tofu in many ways,  fried tofu, mapo tofu and tofu soup. People also  it to make many other foods. As time went by, people carried tofu to Japan and Korea. With the help of Chinese people around the world, tofu slowly travelled to Europe, America and other countries.

Today, tofu is on the world's  of popular foods and more and more people love this Chinese food.

Last year, I planned a mother-and-son surfing trip with my 9-year-old son, Leopold. He only ate the food he liked and refused to try 1 things. He said he was afraid of the sea, small scary animals and the dark, but I thought they were just normal feelings.

To encourage him, I had a great 2 : we would say "YES" to everything during the trip. In fact, I borrowed it 3 a movie Yes Day. Our family agreed to have a try, so we 4 to say yes to new foods and new activities.

Paul: But I still feel terrible. I should give up running.

Chris:  It makes you stronger and happier.

When thinking about how to protect nature, most people choose to start with something small. But what if someone decided to do much more? Lily, a 23-year-old newspaper reporter, did just that.

Lily grew up in a pretty town with forests and rivers around. From a young age, she was amazed by the beauty of nature and felt the need to keep it clean and safe. One day, while she was reporting on air pollution because of a wildfire, she suddenly realized that it was time to do more. So, she decided to cycle round the world to tell people about the importance of protecting nature.

She went to big cities, small villages, and lots of other places. Along the way, she saw beaches full of plastic bags, rivers polluted by factory waste, and wild animals losing their homes. These drove her to try harder. Lily worked with local communities to protect their environment. She held clean-up activities, planted trees, and taught children about recycling (回收). Each action she took was like a drop in the pond, creating some positive changes.

Lily's efforts were not without challenges. Even though she faced many difficulties, like bad weather, she didn't give up. She knew she was doing something very important. And guess what? News about Lily and her volunteer work went far and wide. People from all over the world wanted to help too.

⑥Today, tea is popular all over the world. It connects people from different countries and cultures. When you drink a cup of tea, you are tasting a piece of history.

TEENS — Chen Yi is a great Chinese table tennis player. At the 2025 WTT event, she met Hina Hayata from Japan. At first, Chen Yi fell behind 0-3. But she didn't give up. She kept fighting hard and won four games in a row. Finally, she beat Hayata 4-3 and made it to the top four. What an amazing comeback!

Many people don't know that Chen Yi started playing table tennis at the age of six. Her father loved the sport and taught her. At nine, she joined a special training class. She worked very hard every day. Her coach said she was always the last one to leave the training hall. At sixteen, she entered the national team.

After the big win, Chen Yi said, "I never expected to win. I just tried my best." She knows there is still a long way to go. Her dream is to become a main player of the national team.

Chen Yi's story teaches us a lesson: Nothing is impossible if you work hard. From a nobody to a dark horse, she shows us the power of never giving up. As students, we also have dreams. We may face strong players in our life. But if we keep trying and believe in ourselves, one day we can also be winners! So let's go for it!

What makes someone a hero? Well, heroes come in all shapes and sizes, and they're found in every corner of the world, in every culture and society. 

A hero is someone who's willing  (put) their own life on the line to save others, though it means they might not make it back. Take Norman Bethune for example. He  (continue) to help others even when he was seriously hurt. He cared more about others' safety than his own comfort, and this selfless act is really  (admire). 

Heroes can also be  (science), both famous ones and those working silently behind the scenes. They're the  (pioneer) in their fields, the ones who work tirelessly to make our world a better place. 

But heroes aren't just the big names we hear about. They can be among the everyday people we pass by. Dr. Leng Wenying, for example, often misses family meals during holidays because she's busy taking care of her patients. There are times when she has to work for 20 hours without   (rest)! She really has a strong will and shows great  (kind) to everyone around her. 

 they are well-known figures or ordinary people, heroes all have one thing in common. Like stars, they shine  (bright) and show us the way. 

 In this way, heroes are the role models we can all look up  and learn from.  

On March 4th, 2025, the Pritzker Architecture Prize was given to 69-year-old Liu Jiakun. The prize, which was set up in 1979, is the highest prize in architecture. Liu is the fifty-fourth winner of this award.  Before him, Wang Shu won the award in 2012. 

Liu is famous for designing public spaces in cities. He always creates places for people to gather and enjoy nature.  This five-floor building was built in 

2015. It features (以……为特色) paths for walking and biking. Inside, there are spaces for culture, sports and business. It also offers a beautiful view of local natural and man-made environments. 

 Born in Chengdu in 1956, Liu spent much of his childhood exploring the hospital where his mother worked. He loved climbing onto rooftops to see the city's mix of traditional homes and modern buildings. 

 As an architect, Liu doesn't want a strong personal style.   So, he pays more attention to understanding each place and its needs. He also tries to balance China's traditional architecture with modern technology. "Traditional architecture is great, but it's a product of its time," Liu said. 

Liu also believes that cities should be places for people, not just buildings. Only in this way can a city grow in a healthy way. 

Wang Haoze made history in 2024 as China's first female flight engineer and a member of the Shenzhou-19 crew. Her journey to space is a story of hard work. It shows that even the hardest goals can be achieved (实现) with a willing mind. 

Born in 1990 in Hebei Province, Wang grew up in a strict but loving family. Her mother was a teacher, and her father worked as a policeman. From a young age, she learned the value of keeping on doing something. In 2008, she passed the Gaokao and joined Southeast University in Nanjing. There, she was good at studying and loved sports, often competing in races. 

After graduating in 2015, Wang became a rocket engineer in Beijing. In 2018, she applied for (申请) China's astronaut program. Over two years, she faced hard tests against 2,500 people. Although failing many times, she never gave up. Finally, she became one of the 18 new astronauts—and the only woman in the group. 

On October 30, 2024, Wang's dream came true. She flew into space with two teammates aboard Shenzhou-19, becoming China's third female astronaut. 

Wang Haoze's story shows that with a willing mind, normal people can make splendid things. Her story makes more people pursue their dreams, no matter how impossible they seem.
