Many  language teachers know the value  of using music and singing. Hua Zhuying, a teacher  at  a  Chinese  language  school  in  Washington,D. C.,  depends  heavily  on  songs  in teaching Chinese. She says,"I use music all the time to teach children Chinese. For little kids,usually we use English songs but teach them the Chinese lyrics(歌词). So it's easy for them to start because they know the music. Not only does it work, but it is fun for the kids."

"Sometimes, I think if I were taught English in that way, maybe I would speak much better English than now," Hua Zhuying adds.

Our  brain  likes  music,  especially  for  remembering.  So,  if you' re  still  struggling  in learning a language, why not try singing it out?

The  human  brain  can  hold  much  more  information  than  most  computers.  However,computers don't forget information, and humans often do. No one remembers everything.Luckily we don't usually have to. But everyone can improve their memory if they want to.Here are some suggestions.

◆Try to use new information at once. If you meet someone who says,"Hi! I'm Carlos."Don't just answer"Hello". Repeat the person's name. Say"Hello, Carlos."

◆Break a big number into smaller parts. It's hard to memorize 109244153. But if you break it into three parts——109,244 and 153, it becomes easier.

◆Always review information. If you bring what you' ve learned back to your mind, it becomes easier to remember. For example, before you go to sleep, it's a good idea to read the new things you' ve learned that day.

Yingge dance is a traditional Chinese folk dance in Guangdong which is a combination of strength and beauty. It was recognized as one of the first national intangible cultural heritage(非物质文化遗产) in 2006. After that, it was shown on Tian' anmen Square under the national flag in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. As a mix of dance, opera and kung fu, it gets ideas from Outlaws of the Marsh and tells stories of good beating evil (邪恶). That's why people also call it the warrior's dance which helps to take them into the world of heroes and legends.

Yingge dance itself is an attractive performance of skills and coordination (协调).Dancers wear opera-style makeup and hold short sticks in their hands. While walking and dancing, they hit the sticks together. With the fast beating drums and the dancers' cool moves,the dance rocks the streets and makes people feel powerful.

The 96-year-old Chinese nurse Zhang Jinyuan(张金媛) won the 2023 International Achievement Award. Her award ceremony was held in Beijing.
