A sweet family activity

A sweet family activity can truly bring us happiness and strength. 

David Nayfeld is a cook. He started to ask his daughter Helena to cook with him when she was little. At first, Helena only washed vegetables. As she grew older, she learned to cook dishes, and make cakes and biscuits. David says cooking at home can help kids learn life skills. It can also bring parents and kids closer, and create a warm sweet home. 

"Parents should not expect (期待) their kids to cook perfectly, " David shared. He still remembers his first cooking experience. At about nine years old, he tried to cook chicken, but it came out raw (生的). His mother was not angry. She just cooked the chicken again. "If parents treat small mistakes in a friendly way, kids' cooking time will always be nice, " David said. 

To help more parents enjoy cooking with their kids, David wrote a book named Dad, What's for Dinner? In the book, he shares easy recipes (食谱) for kids. Each recipe has a mess rating (脏乱指数) from 1 to 4. Cooking with kids often makes a big mess. But it doesn't matter. It's a good idea to let the kids join in cleaning. 

In David's eyes, letting kids help with chores in the kitchen is important. It is a good way to help kids look after themselves. 

The Spring Festival was coming. Most people took trains or planes to go back home,  32-year-old Mr Xia chose a very different way.

Artscaping is not only fun but also good for you.  Secondly, it encourages you to notice the beauty in small things. Thirdly, when you slow down and create art, you can focus well. 

 You can collect different things from nature. Then, think about how to create amazing pictures with them. There are no rules—just have fun and use your imagination (想象力)!

Don't forget to take photos of your work when you finish. Your art is part of nature, so wind, rain, or animals might change it or carry it away over time.  That makes it fun. 

Try artscaping when you are outside next time. You might love the way of enjoying the world around you.
