Enjoy Fun Family Traditions

You may have fun traditions with your family, especially during the holiday season. Whether walking through the neighborhood to see the colorful lights, cooking special treats together, or watching a favorite movie, these traditions can help you feel close to the people you love. 

Think about what makes your family special.

Polar bears can dive（潜水）about 4. 6 meters underwater and swim more than 96 kilometers without stopping. The thick fur and fat keep them warm in cold weather. Most polar bears live on sea lo e in the Arctic Ocean including parts of Greenland. They depend on the ice as a place to hunt animals like seals or fish. 

However, climate change has been a huge threat to polar bears. As world's temperatures rise, scientists predict that more than 60% of the polar bears could disappear by 2050. Meanwhile, scientists find that the bears are developing to survive（生存）in a world with higher temperatures and less sea ice. Living in such environment is changing the bears'DNA. 

To know more about their DNA, scientists compared polar bears in northern Greenland to a group living in southern Greenland. Southern Greenland is warmer with less sea ice. To understand how the southern population is surviving. a team of researchers studied DNA samples from 17 bears. 

-All animals have pieces of DNA called"jumping genes（基因）". These genes can move from one place to another in the DNA. When they move, they can change how other genes work. Scientists found that southern bears have more active jumping genes than the northern bears. The difference seemed to be connected with higher temperatures. The jumping genes have caused changes in how the bears' bodies deal with heat, how they age, and how they get fat. 

Lead researcher Alice Godden said the study's results show that polar bears are rewriting their DNA to get used to climate change. However, she said, "This is a big problem because there is a limit（限制）for the bears to change their DNA. We don't know how much they could change. We still need to do everything we can to slow temperature increases. "she told The Guardian.

Five years ago, Freya Blyth moved from working as a school librarian to setting up a bookshop in Aberystwyth, Wales. The bookshop is named"Enokshop by the Sea". It is a community-focused bookshop which brings creative people together. It offers writing classes, movie nights, story time for kids, and art exhibitions (展览) from local artists. "If you visit the Bookshop by the Sea, it's like visiting a magical place, " says Freya Blyth.

Spring is a beautiful season with blooming flowers and warmer weather. However, it is also a time when respiratory illnesses(呼吸道传染病) become common. These illnesses affect(影响) your nose, throat, and lungs, making it hard to breathe comfortably. 

Why are respiratory diseases more common in spring? One reason is the changing weather. Temperatures can go up and down suddenly, which weakens our body's defense. Also, people spend more time indoors during rainy spring days, making it easier for viruses to spread. Another reason is pollen(花粉) from trees and flowers. For some people, pollen causes allergic reactions. 

In many places, people easily get spring respiratory diseases from March to April. Children, teenagers and elderly people are at higher risk because their immune(免疫) systems are either still developing or weaker. 

Understanding these diseases helps us stay aware. If you have symptoms(症状) like a high fever or trouble breathing, it is important to see a doctor. Remember, spring is a wonderful time, but staying aware of these illnesses helps you enjoy the season better.

Some foreign students took part in a cultural program of traveling through Henan Province. The four-day cultural program caught  students' interest. They not only learnt more about China but also  (build) close relations with the Chinese students they had met. 

One of  (popular) events was the wushu experience at Songshan Shaolin Wushu College, where they saw wushu shows and tried some moves. 

"The shows were (wonder) . The Shaolin students could even break a piece of glass with needles (针) !" said Kangwa. 

Kangwa is studying at Henan University of Chinese Medicine now. He became interested in Chinese culture and dreamt  being a wushu star years ago. "  could someone fly in the sky and do all these moves? I thought it was hard to explain. But now I see it by  (I) , " he said.

Zavialova also learned that Shaolin Wushu isn't just about physical exercises. "Students need to learn different kinds of things  (careful) . What is the point of doing these moves with an empty brain?" she said.
