 Some Ways for a Happier Life

 Here are some scientifically proven but simple ways to get happiness. 

★. 

 Whether lending a hand or offering a handout, giving to others can make you feel better. A study from the University of British Columbia found that people who spent money on gifts for others or gave to charity reported being happier than people who spent money on themselves. Volunteering can make you feel good, too. Giving your time to help others may lead to better health. 

★Listen to music.  . 

 According to the research from the University of Missouri, it works well if you actively try to be happier when you' re listening. Scientists from University of London also found that people who listened to relaxing music are likely to look brighter than it actually was. 

★Keep a diary. It's really good to write down your feelings.  . 

 Little things like a nice cup of tea, watching a pretty bird in the garden or a phone call from a friend are worth thanking, according to Californian researchers. 

★Go outdoors. Lots of studies have found being outside makes you feel relaxed. If it's a green space, even if it's just your local park, that's better still.  . According to a University of Sussex and LSE study, researchers asked people to number their happiness levels on an app and being by the sea on a warm weekend day came out top. 

Write down another way to be happy. (no more than 10 words) 

 Tina is a thirteen-year-old middle school student. Last year, she went to  summer school in France and stayed with a local family, the Truffauts. 

 At first, things didn't go well  she couldn't speak French. Simple things like finding the right bus stop became big problems. The Truffauts helped her a lot and treated her like part of the family. They played  (game) and shared traditional food with her. Tina was helpful as well. She did some housework with the family every day. On the weekend, she (join) a community club and did volunteer work. For most of the time, she used body language to communicate. People showed  (they) thanks with smiles and she would always smile back. Language was not a problem  her any more. As a new member of the club, Tina was invited  (have) parties with the other members. Day by day, she made more friends. Tina began  (love) her new life. "A smile is a second language we were born to speak. It is also (good) gift I have got, "she often said proudly.

③Start a talk positively (积极地). Try to speak first. Simple greetings such as"Hello!""How is it going?" and"It's a little cloudy today, isn't it?" are a good start. After that, you can talk more. For example, you can talk about the latest news. But you'd better read some news in newspapers and have your own ideas first. Or you may find that you won't have much to say. 

④The best way to become outgoing is to go out. It is also a very important step. Usually those who like to do the same things can get to know each other better. 

If you like playing sports, go to a sports club. You may make many new friends there if you get over your shyness. 

 Billy always loved blueberries. They were his favorite fruit. Today he was going to make juice with his uncle. His uncle liked to make juice out of everything. He made carrot juice, apple juice, vegetable juice, and more juices. He had never made blueberry juice before though!

 First, Billy and his uncle went to a blueberry farm. They were each given a basket. They picked for an hour and got several pounds. It was hard work picking the little berries from the trees. Now Billy understood why they were expensive in the store. 

 Next, they had to wash the fruit. Some of them still had leaves. Those had to be pulled off. Then the bad berries had to be thrown away. They washed the berries and made them air-dry. 

 After that, they pushed the blueberries through a strainer (过滤器). The strainer caught most of the seeds and skins, and only left a small glass of dark purple juice to them. 

 When they tasted the juice, it wasn't very sweet. Billy's uncle didn't want to add white sugar (糖) to the juice. It was better to use a naturally sweet juice, like apple juice, pear juice, or grape juice. They use grape juice as a sweetener, because grapes had a similar color to the blueberries. 

 Finally, they could drink it. It was a lot of work to make juice, but it sure was refreshing!
