Not many years ago, some farmers were worried because hawks (鹰) took many of their chickens, so the farmers killed many hawks. They no longer had to worry about their chickens. But then they had new worries. Mice ate the farmers' food. How did this happen? Hawks ate not only chickens but also mice. They ate more mice than chickens. But the farmers did not know this. When they killed many hawks, they changed the balance of nature.

Changing the balance is bad for nature. Sometimes when people move into a new place, they often cut down many plants. Some of these plants are good for animals. If the animals cannot find food to eat, they will die or have to leave the place.

Here is another example. In a place of the United States, the giraffes there ate a kind of rose; the lion there ate the giraffes. The number of the giraffes, lions and wild roses did not change much if people kept things as they were. But people killed many lions to protect the giraffes. Soon there were so many giraffes that they ate up all the roses. Then the giraffes began to eat leaves of young trees. These trees were important to people. So people thought of ways to protect trees. Now the giraffes had nothing to eat, and many of them died. This was another lesson from nature.

In my school, there's an outdoor classroom. It is not the same as an indoors classroom.we have no chairs, tables or computers. We sit on some stones. In class we put books on our legs and write on them. It's a bit hard when it's windy. Paper can fly high in the air and we have to jump to get our paper back.

Every week, each class can use the outdoor classroom for one lesson. My class usually has it on Friday. We finish the first two lessons in our indoor classroom, and then we have a 20-minute break. After the break, it's time for us to move. Everyone is excited. We talk and laugh all the way to the outdoor classroom. We always have lots of fun there. There are lots of big trees around the outdoor classroom, so it's cool to have the class in the outdoor classroom even in hot summer. We have many birds' visits each time we are there. Some are quite nice, and we can hear lovely songs from them. Some are nasty, and we get bird poo (粪便) on our heads.

Find out your most valuable ability. You may have different kinds of abilities. It could be about your ability to create, your ability to understand others or your skills at football. But which of them are you proud of?  This will help you know yourself better. 

Know what makes you excited.  It could be when you are performing a dance on stage, when you help your dad fix his computer or even when you are doing research on your school science project. 

Get out of your comfort zone (舒适区). It is always comfortable to stay in your familiar (熟 悉的) area. However, in order to discover yourself, you need to put yourself in some uncomfortable situations.  For example, you can go out for a difficult rock climbing. This will give you a chance to learn more about how you feel, think and react when the challenge comes. 

 It is also a powerful way to discover things about yourself. When you are in a

different place where people share different thoughts, you may have a chance to rethink about what you always believe. 

People may want to finish the journey as soon as possible. As you go through life, many experiences can change you, and this helps you grow. The journey to self-discovery is life's greatest adventure. 

Do you think birdwatching is an activity for old people? Not anymore. More young people, including celebrities like actor Li Xian, are taking it up. 

Li recently trended on Weibo after being recognized photographing birds in a Beijing park, much like the "grandpas" there. He shared his bird photos online, explaining he had longed to try bird photography since taking up the hobby. "It's just that I haven't had enough time or the right equipment until now. " he wrote. With the arrival of spring, he finally brought his new equipment and joined experienced photographers "Not bad for a first shot, " he wrote, obviously pleased with his work. A few days later, he joked about himself in his second bird photo post: "My Weibo is getting weirder. " Both posts have received plenty of reposts and likes.

Under the "AI" concept, a new business model in the education industry "AI self-study rooms" has recently appeared in China and is attracting increasing attention and causing different opinions. 

AI self-study rooms combine AI learning tools, study monitors, and a suitable learning environment. Students take online courses and do exercises with learning devices. Meanwhile, monitors help maintain discipline, and apply AI to find weak knowledge points and design personalized study plans for students. 

A parent told Global Times that AI learning devices are more interactive than regular online courses, analyzing performance and recommending suitably challenging questions to meet students' specific learning goals. "Now, students in rural areas can conduct virtual biology experiments through AI study rooms, which were previously impossible due to limited local resources. " A teacher from Qinghai said. 

Some people praise their advantages, while others think AI self-study rooms are just showy tricks. Some students say certain AI learning devices are not smart enough as they can't adjust teaching to individual needs and only offer mechanical practice. Their updates are too slow, and their fixed question banks often have mistakes, which might mislead students. 

Regarding the cost, it is 200 yuan for one hour on weekends while there is a 20% discount(折扣) on weekdays. "We can't afford this service. We have to think carefully about whether the price matches the learning effect. " a parent from Jiangsu told the Global Times. 

"I believe AI contributes to education, but AI self-study rooms, as a new industry, face problems like poor integration and unbalanced quality. Still, continuous technological progress and wider applications will make AI learning more important in the future, " said Professor Huang, Director of the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences. 

In February 1950, Hua Luogeng, a famous Chinese mathematician, wrote an open letter to all Chinese students studying in the US while he was returning to China. The letter moved many people and showed the strong patriotism (爱国精神) of many overseas Chinese scientists who were eager to return to their homeland. 

The documentary (纪录片) Return tells the story of many scientists who decided togo back to China in the 1950s. "It not only focuses on their historical backgrounds but also shows their emotions and a deep sense of patriotism, " said Li Zheng, the documentary's director. 

Return shares many little-known stories of these scientists. In Hua's case, many people don't know how important his work was in the early development of computer science in China. In March 1950, Hua left his job at Princeton University's Institute for Advanced Study and returned to China. At a time when few people knew about computers, Hua already understood their potential for scientific progress. The next year, he became the director of the Institute of Mathematics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and set up China's first computer research team. Li said Hua's story moved him. "Hua was more than just a mathematician. He had big ideas and was very brave, especially for his time. "

Talking about the influence of Return on young people, Li said, "I hope teenagers will learn more about history from this documentary and be inspired by the spirit of these scientists. Today's young people live in a well-off society, but we must never forget the contributions of those who came before us. "
