Zhang Jinfan is over 90 years old, but he still works at a university in Beijing, teaching Chinese legal history(法律史). On September 13,2024, Zhang was given the title(称号) of People's Educator.

Talking about his childhood, Zhang said that his greatest interest at the time was listening to his father tell stories about China's past and reading historical novels. In 1950, Zhang went to RenminUniversity of China to study legal history. Two years later, he took a job at the university, teaching the subject. In 1983, he joined China University of Political Science and Law.

As the founder of Chinese legal history studies, Zhang has built a bridge between China's past and future and helped introduce the country's development of its rule of law to the world. In his opinion,students of Chinese legal history must understand the changes from ancient times to modern times, so as to find references(参考) in history to meet modern needs.

While encouraging his students to surpass(超过) his achievements, Zhang also says that it will not be easy because he is still working. Every day, he works for about five hours. Sometimes if he works too much, his blood pressure (血压) will rise. However, once it returns to normal, he will go back to his desk to continue reading and writing."Life at work is the most interesting thing to me," says Zhang.

A famous teacher was speaking to the students at our school. He began his lesson by holding up a¥100 bill.

Then he said to the three hundred students,"Who would like this ¥100 bill?" The students began to put up their hands at once.

Then he said,"I am going to give this ¥100 to one of you, but first, let me do this." He then made the bill into a ball. Then he said,"Who wants it now?"    Hands went back into the air.

"Well," he said,"What if I do this?" and he dropped(丢弃) it on the floor and stepped on it. He picked up the dirty, crumpled(皱的) bill and said,"Who still wants it?" Hands went back into the air.

"My friends," he said,"you have learned a valuable lesson today. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not go down in value. It was still worth(价值) ¥100！"

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and stepped on by the chances we take and the things that happen to us. We feel as if we are worth nothing. But remember, no matter what has happened to you, you will never lose your value: you are always valuable to those people who love you. Your value doesn't come from what you do or whom you know, but WHO YOU ARE.

Have you watched the"space food live stream"(太空吃播)? Chinese astronauts on Tiangong Space Station recently shared their special"barbecue" moment, which made a big surprise. The star tool behind this is a new hot-air oven.

In the video, astronauts first took out chicken wings and fixed them on special racks. After 28 minutes' heating, the wings turned golden. Then they baked(烧烤) black pepper steak together, and the delicious smell made them excited.

Baking in space is a big challenge. The smoke and oil fumes could have an effect on the station's air quality. This space oven is not like the ones on Earth. It uses technologies like oil collection and multi- layer filtration(多层过滤), meeting the strict air quality standards of the space station. It can work for more than 500 times for long- term tasks.

The oven is part of China's hard work to make astronauts' life better. Now there are over 190kinds of food on the station. The menu changes every 10 days. The"space garden" grows fresh vegetables, adding more nutrition(营养) to their meals.

Experts say self- baked food brings not only taste enjoyment but also spiritual comfort(心灵的慰藉) to astronauts living in a narrow space for months. This oven shows China's progress in space technology and its care for astronauts' daily life. It's really a warm gift from Earth to the universe.

Farmer John and Farmer Bob were neighbours. For more than 30 years, they had been getting along very well, their friendship suddenly broke. It began with a small thing, then words, and finally weeks of silence between them. One morning, John saw a stream(溪水) between  farms and felt sure Bob had dug it.

Some days later, a carpenter(木匠) knocked on John's door, asking for . John told him,"Build a tall fence(栅栏). I don't want to  Bob's farm anymore."

Thus, the bridge became a  of their restored(修复的) friendship. The story tells us that building bridges brings people together, while fences keep them apart.
