At noon, we discovered a horse with an injured leg with the help of the GPS signals from the drone. "It used to take days to , " Mr. Liu said. "Now we can save them in hours. "

Wild animals that are now in danger need our protection. You might think kids don't have much power to help, but just by learning about the serious situation of wildlife, they can make a difference. Try one of these ideas to raise awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife.
Hold an activity to raise money. There is a book sale at Judy's school at the end of every school year. She and her friends raise some money and donate it to the World Wildlife Fund. You could also sell your handmade cakes, clothes or artworks. Although these actions may seem small, they can make a difference to wildlife.
Organize a lunch-and-learn. A lunch-and-learn is an activity that involves inviting a wildlife expert who works at a nature center to give a speech at your school. The expert helps to raise awareness about wildlife protection and has a discussion during lunch.
Make wildlife-themed bookmarks(书签). Prepare some paper and markers Draw cute wild animals like pandas or tigers on the bookmarks. Write short slogans such as" Protect wild animals, save our friends. " Then share these bookmarks with your classmates. Put them in school libraries and classrooms. When others see the bookmarks while reading, they' ll remember to care about wildlife.
Create educational videos. You can use your parents' phones or cameras to film videos that explain the importance of wildlife protection. These videos can be shared on social media or shown at school events. These videos can not only make people realize the importance of protecting wild animals, but also encourage people to take part in wildlife protection activities.
(1)、What should kids learn to help protect wildlife?(2)、What do Judy and her friends do with the money raised from their yearly book sale?(3)、Why is it helpful to invite a wildlife expert for a lunch-and-learn activity?(4)、How many different ideas for protecting wildlife does the passage suggest?(5)、What other ways (besides those mentioned) can we use to protect wild animals? -

Little babies, cats and pigs are all cute, aren't they? Most of us would say"Yes!" But why do we find them cute? About 100 years ago, scientists listed the cute features(特征) of human babies, a large head, a round face, big eyes and so on. Many baby animals have these similar features.
When we see a cute baby or animal, the brain some special chemicals. These chemicals can give us . Besides, the brain creates the "cute reaction(反应)". This feeling makes us want the baby or animal. In 2009, scientists asked 122 young people to rate(划分等级) the cuteness of human babies. What did the scientists find? The the ratings people gave, the more they wanted to care for the baby.
However, not everyone feels cuteness in the same way. In another piece of research, those scientists some pictures of baby faces by using computers. These babies looked similar but had small in their features. The scientists then showed these pictures to a group of people and asked them to find what was different. What were the ? Well, women performed a little better than men. And women between the ages of 19 and 26 did the best—they could point out even the smallest differences.
When we see a really cute baby or animal, we may want to touch it. This is called" cuteness aggression(进攻)". Do we want to hurt them? Not at all. In fact, the brain doesn't want our cute reaction to be too , so it creates a feeling of aggression to help us control our emotions.

For years, doctors and health experts have depended on Body Mass Index(BMI) to measure obesity(测量肥胖程度). The measurement is based on a person's height and weight. It doesn't consider muscle(肌肉) or fat mass(脂肪量). This can lead to incorrect results. For example, athletes with a lot of muscles and very little fat may have a high"unhealthy"BMI. Older adults with fewer muscles and more fat may have a lower"healthier"BMI, but actually face higher health risks.
Now, Body Roundness Index(BRI) is becoming popular. Unlike BMI, it is based on a person's height and waist(腰部) size. Studies have shown that BRI gives better results in predicting health risks. The fat that covers some important organs inside our bodies can be really harmful, and BRI helps to provide a clearer picture of this hidden danger. Calculating(计算) your BRI is easy and can be done at home. All you need is a tape measure and to follow these steps:
1. Measure your height: Stand straight against a wall without your shoes. Measure the length from the floor to the top of your head.

2. Measure your waist: Find the narrowest part of your waist. Put your tape measure around it.

3. Use an online BRI tool: Enter your height and waist measurements to get your BRI.
A BRI value falls anywhere between 1 and 16. Studies show the best BRI value is between 4. 5 and 5.5. Both lower and higher values can increase health risks. The closer it is to 16, the more body fat you have. Studies show that people with a high BRI are more likely to face health problems. A BRI value around 5 means you have less body fat and are generally healthier. However, a very low BRI suggests you may be under weight. This carries its own health risks.
BRI is a big step forward from BMI, but it's not perfect. It still doesn't consider muscle mass, even though it is very important for our health.
(1)、Why is BRI becoming more popular now?A、It is based on a person's height and weight. B、It shows the hidden danger of our bodies more clearly. C、It is simple to calculate and doesn't need any tools.(2)、Which is the right order to calculate your BRI according to the passage?
A、a-b-c B、c-b-a C、b-c-a(3)、Which of the following BRI values shows a person is healthier?A、Close to 16. B、Around 5. C、Close to 1.(4)、What's the writer's opinion about BMI and BRI?A、BRI is more scientific but needs to improve. B、BRI can take the place of BMI in the future. C、BRI is perfect and plays a big role in our health.(5)、In which book can you probably read the passage?A、
B、

You probably know that eating healthily, staying active, and working out a few brain games can help keep you intelligent. But these daily habits also work wonders.
When we are sad or afraid, we probably slouch(没精打采地站、坐或走). This position causes us to feel worried or upset. It also makes it harder to think clearly and remember things. In a study of 125 university students, 56 percent found it easier to do math problems when they sat up straight than when they slumped(垂头丧气). Sitting tall does improve memory because it helps blood and oxygen flow to the brain—— by up to 40percent.
Having trouble remembering faces? The type of exercise you do might help. In a small study, researchers showed pictures of faces to older people on two different days and after two different kinds of exercise. One day, they rode bikes for 20 minutes and made sure they breathed heavily but were still able to talk. On the other day, they simply sat on a self-pedaling (自踏板) bike for 20 minutes. In the end, people remembered the faces better after the active exercise.
As we all know, too much screen time can hurt a child's cognitive(认知) development. But what about older adults? It was a long- term study for those who were over 50, and they were healthy as well. It was found that people who watched more than three and a half hours of TV a day for six years experienced a greater drop in memory test scores than those who watched less. Another study found that watching violent (暴力)programming also harmed people's memory.
When trying to recall something, don't just think about" walk backward". In a series of experiments, people watched a movie, studied a word list, or looked at a set of pictures. Then they imagined walking forward or backward, watched a video that moved forward or backward, or actually walked forward or backward. Some people also sat still. Backward movement, whether real, imagined, or watched, is better than forward movement.
Sit tall
●Slouching makes it harder to think clearly and remember things.
●Sitting up improves memory by blood and oxygen flow to the brain-by up to 40 percent

Exercise for memory
●Cycling helps to remember faces better.
●Active exercise better memory compared to sitting still.
Lessen screen time
●For older adults over 50, watching TV for more than three and a half hours a day for six years can make their memory .
●Watching violent TV shows can also hurt people's memory, not just for kids but for adults too.
●Imagining or actually walking backward is better for recalling than walking forward.
●Going forward is not as good for memory as going backward.

More and more research shows that too much sitting is bad for our health. Too much sitting has become very common in modern life. Its bad effects even affect people who often exercise. That's why people pay more attention to it.
Clearly, we should all sit less and move more. But how often and for how long should we get up from our chairs? How much activity is needed to reduce the harm caused by a day of sitting?
A study from Columbia University might have the answer: people need just five minutes of walking every half hour during a long period of sitting. This can reduce some of its most harmful effects.
Researchers looked at different intervals(间隔) to decide which was the best. All those people involved(参与) in the study sat in a chair for 8 hours and their movements were strictly monitored (监控). Walking for five minutes every 30 minutes was the most effective method. It showed great improvement in blood sugar and blood pressure.
All the walking was found to lower blood pressure by 4 or 5 mmHg compared to sitting all day. All the intervals, except walking for one minute every hour, led to improved energy levels and mood. The biggest difference between walking and sitting all day lay in blood sugar levels. People who walked for five minutes every half hour saw a 58% reduction in blood sugar levels compared to those who sat all day.
