Joao lives on an island near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He doesn't need to work, but still works as a part-time fisherman. One day, about five years ago, when he was walking on the beach, he saw a little penguin with oil (石油) on its body. "If no one helps the bird wash away the oil, it may lose its life," Joao thought. So he took the bird home and gave it a shower. Joao gave the bird fish to eat, and called it "Din dim". The penguin soon became strong and healthy. It was able to go back to the water. 

After a week or two, Joao went down to the coast (海岸) and tried to free Din dim. But the penguin didn't want to go. It stayed with Joao for another eight months, getting bigger and stronger. And Joao enjoyed being with his new friend. Then one day in February, Din dim left. When Joao found this, he cried and couldn't eat or sleep all day and all night. But, in his heart, he hoped that the bird went back to its penguin family. Four months later, when Joao was walking home from the beach, he heard a "honking" sound—Din dim was back. Joao ran to it, and Din dim touched Joao's face, helping clean his tears (眼泪). Later, Din dim goes back and stays with Joao every year. 

Where does it go? In fact, it swims about 2,500 miles to the coast of Argentina or Chile to start a penguin family and then swims back to Joao. It swims about 5,000 miles a year to be with the man who saved its life. The penguin thinks that Joao is part of its family. 

① These days, a new type of house, called Fourth-generation Houses, becomes a hit (受欢迎的事物). It brings great changes to our living environment. 

② Fourth-generation Houses are different from traditional houses. They have some special features. Each house has a big private garden where people can plant beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables, just like living in the countryside. Also, there are large shared areas in the community, such as artificial (人造的) lakes and a great number of trees, and these will make people feel like they are in a park. 

③ Moreover, these houses use new building materials. For example, special glass is used to let in more sunlight to keep the room warm. And because of these high-tech materials, the building structure is also more stable and can better protect people from natural disasters (灾难). 

④ In a word, Fourth-generation Houses make our lives more comfortable and bring us closer to nature. Many people are looking forward to living in such a wonderful house in the future!

My dream home

I'm glad to share my ideas about my dream home.

My dream home is a flying home. I get the idea from the film Up (《飞屋环游记》).

It is a wooden house, so it is light. And how can I make it fly? I plan to tie (系) some helium balloons (氦气球) to the house. They bring the house up into the air. It can fly for one hour at a time. It can take my family and me to a different place every season. 

The house is not very big in size. We only need six comfortable rooms—two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, and a bathroom. The house flies to warm places in winter and cool places in summer. 

Where can we get energy and water? We get energy from the sun and we collect rainwater to use. So it is a green house. 

I think it would be a cool home. But my parents say it is a crazy (疯狂的) idea. They ask me what school I can study in if I live in that home. And they also say they must work in Nanjing. They cannot live in a different place every season. But I still hope my dream can come true one day.

Everyone dreams of having his or her own house. I also dream of w my future house will be like. My dream house is a three-floor house w a pointed roof (尖屋顶). The second f is an attic (阁楼). There is a large w in the wall. The moonlight streams into the attic through it, so I can be bathed in the moonlight at n . I can just lie down on the c bed, which makes me feel like on the soft clouds. 

Since I like to read books, there are bookshelves. The bookshelves in my s look like the bookshelves from the movie Beauty and the Beast. Each bookshelf is f of books. Especially, the Harry Potter series, my favorites, are put in the middle of the bookshelf. Also, there is a living room and a dining room on the g floor. The big and comfortable sofas are in front of a television and beside sofas there is a tea table. My family sits there and has an everyday conversation. Moreover, I can h a barbecue party in my backyard. 

The house is warm and safe as my family lives happily and peacefully.
