Ma Huijuan, a 38-year-old farmer from Ningxia, kept writing for many years. Over the years, she has typed two million characters on her mobile phones. She  many stories in her free time.

On January 8, 2024, a strong earthquake hit Ngari Prefecture（阿里地区）, Tibet. The earthquake brought great danger and loss. Many houses fell down, and people lost their homes. Some were even trapped（受困的）under the broken buildings. But soon after the earthquake, love and help came from all over China.

Right away, the government sent teams of soldiers and doctors to the earthquake-hit areas. They worked day and night to save people. Some soldiers carried heavy things to find people under the ruins（废墟）. Doctors gave medical treatment to the injured. They didn't care about their own tiredness. They just wanted to save more lives.

People from other cities also showed their love. They sent food, water, warm clothes, and tents to help those in need. Many volunteers traveled to Tibet to help. They cooked meals for the homeless, talked with the sad children, and helped with many small things. A young volunteer named Li Hua said, "I just want to do something to make them feel better."

In a school in the earthquake area, teachers tried their best to look after the students. They stayed with the children, told them stories, and made them feel safe. One little girl said, "My teacher hugged me and said everything would be okay. I felt less afraid."

The earthquake was a disaster（灾难）, but it brought people together. It showed that when trouble comes, love and kindness are always stronger. People's help made the people in Tibet feel warm and hopeful. They knew they were not alone.

The Silk Road was a group of trade paths connecting Europe and Asia. It started over 2,000 years ago during China's Han Dynasty and lasted until the 15th century. People traded goods, ideas, and cultures there. A German geographer named Ferdinand von Richthofen called it the "Silk Road" in 1877 because Chinese silk was its most famous product.

The Silk Road was about 6,400 kilometers long, across tough places like deserts and mountains. Traveling was dangerous because of the bad roads, robbers, and no government protection. Traders formed camel groups called caravans (大篷车) for safety. Most traders didn't travel the whole way. Goods moved through many people's hands along the way.

Lots of goods traveled along the Silk Road. Chinese silk, tea, and spices (香料) went west to Europe. In return, horses, glass, wool, and gold came east. Important Chinese inventions like paper-making and gunpowder also spread through the Silk Road.

The Silk Road wasn't just for trading. It connected different cultures. Cities along the path became busy places where languages, religions, and technologies mixed. Buddhism (佛教) came to China from India through these routes.

In the 15th century, sea travel replaced the Silk Road. Today, UNESCO (联合国教科文组织) protects parts of it as special historical places. China's "Belt and Road Initiative" today still uses the old Silk Road's ideas about connecting countries. The Silk Road teaches us that sharing and curiosity (求知欲) can unite the world. This lesson remains important for people today.

Imagine that you get into your car, tell your car where you want to go, and then let it take you there. This is called self-driving. In fact, the idea behind self-driving cars is very simple. A self-driving car is connected with a computer and the computer is connected with many cameras which can track all the objects close to the car and give the computer all the driving rules and routes (路线). Then the car can take people to the place where they want to go.
