Did you know that there might be Lego toys on a beach near you? This year, 13-year-old boy Liutauras found a Lego fish on a beach in Cornwall, UK. The piece was one of millions that fell into the sea in 1997. At that time, a stormhit the cargo ship (货船) Tokio Express. It pushed 62 shipping boxes into the water. One of them held about 5 million Lego pieces.
It's known as the Great Lego Spill (乐高大泄露) of 1997. About 27 years after that, people are still finding Lego pieces across the beaches of Europe today.
Tracey Williams, a UK writer, was among many people who started finding Lego pieces after the spill. She started to write about the Legofinds in 2010.
"Searching for lost Lego from a cargo spill started as a bit of fun, a treasure hunt with my children. It opened my eyes to all the rest of the plastic (塑料) in the ocean,"Williams told the media. In Williams's book, Adrift: The Curious Tale of the Lego Lost at Sea, she looks at what humans do to the sea's environment."Some oceanographers (海洋学家) believe it could have all the way around the world," Williams wrote in the book. In fact, people will not find most of these pieces because they are lying on the seabed.
This shows how long plastic stays in our oceans and environment. It never fully breaks down(分解), and when sea animals eat it, they can get seriously hurt.
According to The New York Times, a spokesperson for the Lego Group said the company didn't "ever want Lego ... to end up in the sea" and is "serious about its role in helping to look after the planet". This year, the toy maker said that it is stopping the use of oil in Lego and using renewable (可再生的) materials.

D、514.(2)、Why can people still find Lego pieces on the beach after the Great Lego Spill of 1997?A、Because there are too many Lego pieces on the beach. B、Because plastic can hardly break down even after a long time. C、Because many people are really interested in Lego pieces. D、Because there are more Lego pieces on the beaches than on the seabed.(3)、On which website can we probably read the above article?A、www.lego.com B、www.humanandnature.com C、www.worldwildlife.com D、www.forgottenbooks.com(4)、What's this passage mainly about?A、Great Lego Spill warns us how plastic is bad for environment. B、Searching for lost Lego from a cargo spill is becoming popular. C、It's great fun for people to find Lego toys on a beach. D、Lego company will use renewable materials instead of oil. -

①Did you know that architecture (建筑) can shape who we become? For example, studies showed that rooms with lower ceilings (天花板) can make you more focused (专注), while rooms with higher ceilings can make you more creative.
②Connecting nature with buildings is good for our bodies and minds. A study by Heidelberg University in Germany found that people who grew up in the countryside are less likely to have mental(精神的) illnesses than those raised in cities. Vancouver, Canada, is a city surrounded (被围绕) by mountains and ocean. The city plans its buildings carefully so that tall ones don't block (遮住)people's views of the ocean and mountains.
③Architecture that has no soul (灵魂) can also influence our moods(心情), according to The Guardian. For example, in a study that took place in Lower Manhattan, New York City, people's moods got worse as they walked past the boring glass in front of a supermarket. They even started walking faster, as if they wanted to get away quickly. However, when they reached lively restaurants and shops, their moods improved a lot.
④To make architecture more interesting, designers should avoid too many flat (平的) and straight designs. These kinds of designs don't allow light and shadow to create interesting patterns. They also don't fit well with nature, making buildings seem boring. To add life to architecture, designers should pick colors carefully to create different moods, according to Forbes. Bright colors like yellow and orange can make people feel energetic and happy, while calm colors like blue and green can help people feel relaxed.
⑤So, for your own well-being, surround yourself with buildings that make you happy and, ideally, let you see nature too.

China during the Tang Dynasty. Many believe the festival was first mentioned in The Book of Rite. It was described as a day for emperors (皇帝) to celebrate the year's harvest by giving food and other things to the moon and hosting a great meal.

12、 阅读下列材料,从每题所给的 A 、B 、C 三个选项中选出最佳选项。
Which is more important in your mind, looking fashionable or feeling comfortable? You may find many people choose style over comfort and some even go to extremes (极端) to follow fashion. But we should remember: being fashionable isn't everything. It's more important to be healthy.
Some people believe that they need to be a certain size to look good. So, they start extreme diets (极端节食)that are not good for their health. They might not eat meals or eat too little, which can make them feel sick. Is it a healthy way to live?
Also, many girls wear shoes with very high heels (鞋后跟). They might think high heels make them look taller. But these shoes can actually hurt their feet and make it hard to walk comfortably, and they can increase the risks of falls. Some even wear tight (紧的) clothes that influence blood circulation (循环), making it hard to breathe. Should we put fashion over comfort and physical health?
Besides, some boys and girls spend a lot of time and money changing their hair color. The material they use is usually harmful(有害的) to their health. To make their hair straight or curly, they also use tools that are hot enough to burn their hair. But using these tools too often or at very high temperatures can make the hair dry or even burnt. Is it really worth it to risk our health, spending so much time and money?
So, let's think again what's really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being? Clothes or hairstyles don't tell us anything about a person's character. Instead of spending a lot of time choosing clothes, we could use that time to do fun things with friends. And instead of following extreme diets, let's eat properly and exercise regularly (有规律地). Remember, the value of you is not decided by your appearance, but by who you are as a person.
(1)、Why do some people go on extreme diets according to the passage?A、Because the diets are healthy. B、Because they just want to look good. C、Because they want to save time(2)、What is the writer's purpose of using a question in each paragraph?A、To ask for help from readers. B、To introduce the latest fashion. B、Changing the hair style too often has no influence on people's health. Thanks to new technology, rice now being planted in the Taklimakan Desert in Xinjiang has a shorter growth time.

By 2021, Yang and his team had managed to cut the growth time of rice by half in an experiment (实验) in Chengdu. However, the man-made environment was expensive in Chengdu because of the large amount (量) of energy needed to simulate (模拟) sunlight and warm temperatures.
"The cost of building greenhouses in Hotan is much cheaper than in many other parts of China because many are built on wasteland," Yang said. "Hotan is a perfect place to do farming research."
