Calligraphy （书法） is a traditional art form in China.It has a history of    of years.It involves （包含） writing Chinese characters （汉字） with a brush and ink （墨汁），creating beautiful and expressive works of art.And it is loved by people all    the world.

Chinese calligraphy has many different styles.Each style has its    beauty.As we all know，Yan Zhenqing is famous for kaishu.Wang Xizhi and his son were known for xingshu；they were    as the great calligraphers in Chinese history，and few people were able to achieve their level of achievement.Therefore，many people think the Jin Dynasty is the pinnacle （顶峰） of calligraphic works in Chinese history.

Chinese calligraphy needs both skill and   .The type of brush，ink，and paper people use can    the writing.Calligraphy is not    writing，it is an art form that shows the writer's feelings and thoughts.

Chinese calligraphy is a living heritage （遗产） which connects us to our history and traditions.It is an important part of Chinese culture and    beauty to our life.For example，the Spring Festival couplets （对联） bring more happiness to the festival.

Today，calligraphy continues to be appreciated （欣赏） and practiced by many people，   in China and around the world.It serves as a bridge    connects the past with the present，and a window through which one can glimpse （瞥见） the beauty of Chinese traditions and culture.

 [4] " Children can become more independent by trying new activities or solving problems by themselves ， " says the expert. "Ask your parents or teacher to let you practice a skill on your own.If you don't succeed for the ③    ▲     time，try again." So，think about something you'd like to do on your own and give it a go.Don't feel pressure to do everything all at once.Start small and build confidence in your abilities.Being independent doesn't mean you have to do everything alone.If you're feeling worried or doing a difficult task，speak to someone you trust or ask for help.A big part of becoming more independent is having the confidence to know you are able to make decisions，try new things on your own and think for yourself.

Besides golden yellow，can gold show other colors？Can water reach 0℃ without turning into ice？Yes and yes.Welcome to the world of nanogeochemistry （纳米地球化学）.Professor Wan works at an institute in Guizhou.He is a leading scientist in this research field.

"Nanogeochemistry is a field that bridges nanotechnology （纳米科技） and geochemistry （地球化学），" said Wan.Nanotechnology looks at things as tiny as one-billionth （十亿分之一） of a meter，while geochemistry studies Earth from a chemical point of view.You might think it seems strange to mix these two fields.But Chinese scientists have thought about it since the 1990s，Wan noted.One reason is that high-technology products，especially computers and smartphone chips （芯片），keep getting smaller but more powerful.

"Nanogeochemistry tries to understand how tiny things form （形成） and spread on Earth.Among them，particles （粒子） are one to 100 nanometers in size，" Wan said.That is much smaller than a human hair，which is usually 80，000 to 100，000 nanometers wide.

In the nanoworld，things act in strange ways because of quantum effects （量子效应）.For example，if gold is made just a few nanometers big，it can shine blue，purple or even red.Another example is water.When water is placed inside nano-sized holes，it can stay liquid （液态的） even under -40 ℃.

Nanogeochemistry is important for space research.Wan's team is studying the effects of high-speed impacts （撞击） on space bodies.This might help explain how certain metal nanoparticles formed on the moon，Mars，and so on.

Traditional Chinese Medicine （TCM） has a very long history.One important part of it is the four methods doctors use：looking，listening and smelling，asking，and feeling the pulse （脉搏）.

Looking means doctors look at patients with great care.They check the face colour.If the face is yellowish，it might mean there's a problem with the spleen （脾）.The tongue is also important.They look at the tongue coating ， how thick it is and its colour.For example，a thick，white tongue coating may show there's too much dampness （湿气） in the body.

Listening and smelling mean two parts.Doctors listen to patients' voices.Are they weak or strong？They also listen to coughs to see if it's a dry cough or a cough with phlegm （痰）.And they smell patients' breath and body smell.A bad-smelling breath might mean there are problems with digestion （消化）.

Asking means that doctors ask patients lots of questions.They want to know about the symptoms （症状） patients have.They also ask about past illnesses，daily habits like how well they sleep and how often they exercise and what they usually eat.This helps doctors understand the patient's overall （全面的） health condition.

Feeling is a skill.Doctors feel patients' pulses.A fast pulse can mean the body is too hot or the patient is stressed.They also feel parts of the body，like the stomach，to see if there's any pain or strange lumps.

These four diagnostic （诊断的） ways work together.They help doctors find out what illnesses patients have and make good treatment plans.They are a very important part of Chinese medical culture.They show how smart our ancestors were in understanding and treating the human body.

A golden light covered the cornfields as the sun began to set.I wanted to rest，too.After saying goodbye to my friends，I walked back to the camp.Suddenly，I heard a voice behind me. "Photo，photo，photo，" said a little boy.I was tired and didn't want to take more pictures，so I refused.But he kept following me，asking for a photo.

Finally，I had an idea.I asked the boy to stand in the cornfield and pose （摆好姿势）.But when I prepared to take the picture，he became shy and scared.No matter what I said，I couldn't get the shot.Upset，I stopped trying.The boy looked embarrassed and alone.To cheer him up，I clapped （鼓掌） and said， "That was great!You were great!" His family gathered around，clapping and cheering.The boy smiled，and I took some pictures of that happy moment.

The photo was better than I imagined because it came from the heart.I learned that when we focus on the present moment，we create something special.This experience taught me about seeing others，not just my own wants.The boy just wanted to be noticed.I saw the joy and simplicity （简单） in his life.Photography helps me connect with others and the world.It reminds me of what's truly important.

In recent years，the icy areas of Antarctica （南极洲） have been changing a lot.Some parts covered in ice are turning green because plants are growing1 .This change is happening because of climate （气候） change，and it is happening faster than scientists thought.It could have big2 on Antarctica's environment.

A study showed that between 1986 and 2021，the number of plants on the Antarctic Peninsula （半岛）3 more than ten times.The area went4 less than one square kilometre to almost 12 square kilometres.In recent years，this change has become 30% faster，showing that we need to act quickly to5 climate change.

Antarctica is one of the6 places on Earth，and it helps keep the planet's climate stable （稳定的）.If the ice keeps melting （融化），it could cause sea levels to rise and other7 problems.

Scientists are studying this change to understand it better.They are also trying to find ways to protect Antarctica and8 the effects of climate change.But this is a global problem，and everyone needs to reduce carbon emissions （碳排放） and protect our planet.

Ants are tiny but amazing insects.They have a four-part philosophy （哲学）.

First，ants never give up.If they're heading somewhere and you try to stop them，they'll look for another way.They'll climb over，and they'll climb around.  What a neat （极好的） philosophy to never give up looking for a way to get where they're supposed to go!

Second，ants think winter all summer.You can't be so naive （幼稚的） as to think summer will last forever.So ants are gathering （收集） their winter food in summer.An ancient story says， "Don't build your house on the sand in summer." There is some reason in what it says.It is important to think ahead.  You have to think about rocks when you enjoy the sand and sun.

Third，they stay hopeful.During the winter，ants remind themselves， "This won't last long；we'll soon be out of here."  If it turns cold again，they'll go back，but then they'll come out again if it is warm.They never lose hope.

And here is the last part of the ant philosophy.How much will an ant gather during the summer to prepare for the winter？  What an unbelievable philosophy，the "all-that-you-possibly-can" philosophy.

 Never give up，look ahead，stay hopeful and do all you can.

Wan Shiyu is a student at Wuhan University of Technology. She loves helping others through voluntary work. She thinks that it is necessary for young people to support society and care for others. 

From December 1st to 3rd, 2024, Wan led thousands of students from all overChina in carrying out her project, called"Xingxin Xiangyin", which specially helps children with autism （自闭症）. Unlike other short-term services, Wan's project offers long-term help that meets each child's needs. It connects families with experts, organizes fascinating and fun activities for families, teaches people about autism, and provides an online platform （平台） for parents to communicate. 

Wan's teacher, Yu Yanping, says the best part of the project is that it brings parents and experts together. Parents are delighted to see young people working hard to make the world a kinder place. This encourages parents to join the project and makes them feel more relaxed to help their kids. 

Yu helped design a survey to learn more about the needs and habits of autistic children. For example, Wan and her team found that some children didn't like loud sounds. So, when they planned basketball games, they chose quiet and uncrowded places without sudden noises. "Loud noises like a car horn（喇叭） may make the children nervous if we don't avoid them, " said Wan. 

Wan uses her time and skills to help others. Her project shows that young people can make a big difference by caring for those in need. 

In ancient times, copper coins(铜钱) meant wealth. Linking the copper coins one by one had the good meaning of collecting wealth. With coins, people could knit(编织)them into different shapes, from armor(盔甲) and swords(剑), to animals and plants.As a traditional skill in China, copper coin knitting was listed as an intangible cultural heritage in 2018.

Every day at 9 a. m., Zhang Canjin comes to the Drum Tower Street in Ningbo and walks into a small house of less than 10 square metres. Sitting at his desk, the inheritor of copper coin knitting starts his day.

"Knitting the coins into different shapes doesn't sound difficult, but the key is to be creative and think big," Zhang said. So, since he started his own copper coin knitting store in 2014, he has tried very hard to think big. Zhang added, "As I keep on making different works,I have more creative ideas in my mind."

To try something challenging, Zhang spent two months making armor with more than 8,000 coins in 2017. The masterpiece attracted national attention and even got Zhang a national patent (专利) for design. This success also gave him more confidence. Now, he tries to continue coming up with more creative ideas and hopes the art form will reach more people.

"I think we Chinese people should pass on our own treasure and traditions," Zhang said. Zhang's house stands there in the middle of the crowded Drum Tower Street, and inside Zhang is knitting his love for heritage into a beautiful dream.
