ChatGPT is a new type of robot. It was created by OpenAI in San Francisco. It understands human languages and can talk to people too. ChatGPT can answer questions, recognize mistakes, challenge wrong settings, and say no to improper requests by having conversations.

GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer. Elon Musk, the person behind it, says, "ChatGPT is amazing but also a bit scary because it presents a challenge." Experts say that within just two months of its release(发行), ChatGPT has got 100 million users.

ChatGPT is good at both talking and listening. It can be serious or funny, depending on the situation. For example, if you say, "Tell me a lie(谎言)," ChatGPT might reply, "The sky is made of green cheese." Then, if you say, "That's not a good lie. Tell me more lies," ChatGPT might playfully say, "I am actually a human." Besides conversations, this AI chatbot can even write emails and papers. Surprisingly, it can also create poems and stories. ChatGPT can also help with writing code quickly and correctly. Maybe one day, it could even work as a top engineer.

However, some experts say that ChatGPT might be improved to answer questions which it hasn't been trained on. And Some schools in the US, Australia and France have banned(禁止) the use of ChatGPT. They worry that the tool could make it easier for students to cheat on homework and tell others incorrect information.

But Bhaskar Vira from the University of Cambridge, said that bans on AI software like ChatGPT are not wise. "We have to know that AI is a tool people will use. What we need to do is* adapt(适应) our learning, teaching and examinations'. That way, we can be honest while using the tool."

In my eyes, ChatGPT doesn't completely change our lives or cause bad influence on schools. It shows that AI has entered a new time instead. What do you think? Will ChatGPT replace human beings?

The human brain is very small and light (only two percent of our total body weight), but it needs about 20% of the oxygen(氧气) that our body takes in. We can't think well if our brain isn't getting enough oxygen, so always make sure there is enough oxygen in the air when you need to learn or remember something!

No one can remember everything, but everyone can learn how to improve their memory. Here are some tips - none of them can make your memory 100% perfect, but all of them are useful:

●When you want to remember something, tell a friend about it. This way the new information becomes more memorable(可记住的). Later on, think about the conversation with your friend. It will remind you of the information you wanted to remember.

●Don't over-train your brain. When you' ve remembered a list of new vocabulary, stop studying . It's better to study a lot of material for a small amount of time than a small amount of material for a lot of time!

●Our memory works well when we are asleep. If you want to remember something, go to bed and go to sleep at once after learning it.

●If you have to remember something big, break it down into smaller pieces. It's easier to remember 198756430387 if you break it into four smaller bits:198-756-430-387.

●If you want to remember a piece of information, and you can't, don't get angry. Relax and tell yourself, "If it's important, I will remember it later."

On December 4, 2024, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization(联合 国教科文组织) added China's Spring Festival to its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity(人类非物质文化遗产). Now, China has 44 traditions listed, making it the country with the  (many) traditions on the list.

The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is  very important festival in China and around the world. Being added to the list means that people recognize not only its Chinese origins  also the ideas it carries, which connect all people.

The Spring Festival shows China's desire for peace and harmony. It supports values like  (have)a good relationship with society and nature

Food is a big part of the Spring Festival. From dumplings to sticky rice cakes, all the foods carry good  (wish) for people's loved ones.  you are in China, from north to south, you can find special food for the festival.

The Spring Festival  (include) many traditions and stories. For example, people once used fireworks and red decorations to scare away a beast (野兽) (call)"nian" which was thought to hurt people and animals at the beginning of the new year. Today, people still hang red lanterns and set off fireworks. They hope these will keep away  bad spirits and bring good luck.

Apart from the customs on specific days, there are also other interesting symbols and events related to the festival.  is said that many of these celebrations have been passed down from generation to generation and are practised in China, Asia, and other places.

There was once a large bottle of fresh, clean water. Every drop in the bottle felt  (骄傲的)of being so clear and pure.

But one day, one of the drops got bored with his clean existence. He would like to see what it would be like to be a dirty drop. The other drops tried to talk him out of the idea, but  (失败).

When the drop came back all dirty, all the other drops in the bottle were  (影响) and changed into dirty drops, too.  (若干; 几个) months later, someone put the bottle in a pool. A lot of clean water entered the large bottle, and the drops finally made  (它们自己) pure again.

Now the drops reach an  (协议) that if they want to be clean, then each of them will have to stay clean.  (纠正) the mistake of even one single drop needs much hard work.

In a way, this bottle of water is  (相似的) to the situation on the Earth. If we want to live on a clean planet, it is necessary for each of us to be a"clean drop." Whenever someone or some country becomes a"dirty drop" and (污染) the air or the ocean, the whole Earth becomes a bit dirtier. The same may also happen to you and your class. If you want your class to be excellent, then each of you will need to behave  (好). Are you a"clean drop"?

Tea has been an important part of daily life in China for hundreds of years. There are different kinds of tea,  green tea, black tea, flower tea, and yellow tea. But two rising stars in China's teacups— white tea and dark tea— are  more and more popular. Dark tea is made from rough, old tea leaves which darken to a deep brown color during the long fermentation (发酵) process. White tea is produced  in Fujian Province. The local people spread the fresh  out in courtyards and seal (密封) them in jars after they have dried. Dark tea and white tea are  drinks. Dark teacan reduce body fat and lower blood pressure while white tea can slow the process of aging.

Jake was sitting all alone in the classroom during the break. He was thinking about the"C" he had received in his1 test. "I knew I was getting it when I was taking the test, but I just can't help feeling unlucky to be bad at spellings," thought Jake. He was good at other subjects, and he couldn't2 seeing a big"C" on his test paper.

The perfect language learner

Every language student wants to know the secret to making the most progress in the shortest time. What does the perfect learner do to better acquire a foreign language? The following are some tips which may help you improve your language skills.

Even when you are really tired, do some learning, even if it's only 5 to 10 minutes. Never miss a chance to increase your knowledge. Use it, or lose it! Practice makes perfect.

To really learn a new word, you have to remind yourself of it six times over hours, days and weeks. Write down all your new vocabulary in a little book that you can always carry around with you. Or keep a record in your mobile— you always have it with you, don't you? According to a recent study, 86 percent of the participants(参与者) believe that they are more likely to be successful in remembering new words with a vocabulary list.

Don't worry about small mistakes! No one minds! When you learn new vocabulary or grammar, use it as soon as possible. If you can't use them accurately, it is likely that someone will point out your mistakes at once. Challenge yourself! Go for it!

You can use technology to improve your English such as listening to podcasts (播客) of native speakers, reading news in the language you are learning, watching videos, etc.

①Sixty-two-year-old American Brian Linden wears many hats: traveler, businessman, educator, writer, and founder of the Linden Center hotel(Xilinyuan Hotel). Having lived in a village in South China's Yunnan province for nearly twenty years, he now considers himself as one of the"cool new Dali people".

②Born and raised in Chicago, Linden first visited China in 1984. He received a scholarship(奖学金) from the Chinese government and came to study in Beijing. During his stay, he was deeply attracted by Chinese culture and would love to be its communicator.

③After working and traveling in over 100 countries, he gave up his job in the US, sold his house and moved to China with his wife and two sons in 2004. He wanted to find a place and create a new lifestyle. After a tour around China, Linden and his wife finally chose Xizhou, which is not far from Dali. "It is a beautiful place with hundreds of old buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Actually I'm a fan of China's traditional buildings. Traditions here remain as alive as ever and the local people treat me like family. I immediately fell in love here," said Linden.

④With the help of the Dali government, Linden spent all his money repairing a traditional Bai-style house into a hotel for foreign tourists. Now the house is known as Linden Center hotel. It provides international education projects for European and American schools. It also opens 50% of its space to the public, creating a place for more people to communicate with the villagers. It offers free English classes to villagers once a week.

⑤When talking about his future plans, Linden said he wants to do more to share with the world the beauty of China. "Our goal is to turn Xizhou into a window for foreigners to learn about China," said Linden. "I hope that through my efforts, more people can love China."
