We all know that listening, speaking and writing are important in English learning. Reading is equally (同样地) important. When you read, you can learn not only new words but also how to use these words. Here are some good reading tips for you to follow.

Try to read at the right level. If you need to stop every three words to look up the dictionary, it won't be interesting.

Read actively to increase your vocabulary. When you come across new words while reading, try to guess their meanings first instead of stopping to look them up right away. Once you finish, go back to those marked words, look them up in a dictionary, and write them down in your vocabulary notebook. Finally, try to remember them.

Try to read regularly. Fix (固定) a time to read and stick to it. You can read for fifteen minutes before you go to bed, when you get up or at lunchtime.

Read what interests you. Choose a book or a magazine about a subject that you like, because it makes reading easier and more fun. You can also read newspapers. One of them is 21st Century Teens. It is easy enough for you to understand. And there is always something interesting in it.

Last week, our school held an enjoyable English Week, and all the teachers and students joined in it. There were many fun activities, like English riddles, short plays and spelling bees. Everyone participated (参与) actively and cheered for each other when someone won a prize. I took park in the spelling bee with my classmates and we worked as a team, helping each other remember difficult words. Our English teachers also took part in some activities and gave us encouragement and useful suggestions.This English Week let us realize the importance of teamwork while learning English.And we all had great fun and improved our English a lot. We hope our school can organize more events like this to make our English learning more interesting.
