Shlander is a man from space. He is on holiday on the Earth and thinks the people and things here are very strange. Here is part of his letter:

Now I am in a strange world. It is very nice. There are many Earth monsters here too. The Earth monsters look very funny. They have just one head, two arms and two legs. Some Earth monsters have brown or yellow strings.They come in different colours. Some are white, some are yellow and some are black.

 Every day, they put nice things and balls from trees into the hole.They put water into the hole too. The Earth monsters do not walk very fast. They move from place to place in metal boxes. They also travel in the air inside a flying thing.

They live in stone cages. They move around freely outside in the daytime and return to their cages when it gets dark. There are many interesting things in the cages.At night, the Earth monsters like to look at a square window box.

Last term, our art teacher asked us to make a short animated film. She said, "Your task is to create  story about friendship that is both creative and meaningful." The whole class felt both (excite) and a little nervous about this big challenge!

First, we needed a good idea. After much (discuss), we decided on a story about a silly fox and a smart spider who became best friends in the end. Then, we started to draw the cartoon characters (careful) with pencils and colours. This was the longest and most tiring part. We also had to learn how (use) some simple computer special effects to make the scenes look real. Finally, after weeks of hard work, the film(finish)!

On the day of the film show, we all (gather) in the school hall. When the lights went down and our film appeared on the big screen, everyone became quiet and began to enjoy the film.

After watching the film, most classmates came to tell (we) how much they how much they loved it. Our teacher was so satisfied that she said she would show it to other classes.

This experience has taught us that creating something new is hard, but  you use your imagination and work together, you can create something wonderful. We also realized that teamwork always makes the work easier. We hope we can come up  more interesting ideas for our next art project.

Chinese ink-wash animation Nobody has been a big success. Just nine days after its release,it earned over 559 million yuan at the box office.  It even got a higher rating(评分)than the popular film Ne Zha 2.

What makes the film so popular?  With the setting familiar to the audience, it tells a universal story about survival, dignity(尊严), courage, and life that everyone can connect with.

The film follows a little pig monster who dreams of a stable(稳定的) job. However, after annoying the Monster King, he loses his job and has to leave his home.   Together,they form a team inspired by the story from Journey to the West. Although others laugh at them,the little demons bravely fight against much stronger enemies.

Many viewers see themselves in these"nobodies".   It emphasizes that having the courage to start a journey is more important than simply reaching the destination.

Visually, the film is a perfect mix of Chinese ink-wash painting and modern animation techniques.   The success of Nobody shows that great animations can be created when traditional Chinese culture is expressed in a modern way.

When kids spend long hours watching cartoons, what can they get from the cartoons? In fact,there is something good and something bad. Let's find out how cartoons help kids.

Cartoons help kids more than people think. The only problem is that parents have to help their kids make good choices.

Yao-Chinese Folktales(《中国奇谭》) is a hot Chinese 1 . The cartoon 2 on a platform(平台) in January,

Choose a movie that interests you.

Choose a movie you are interested in so that you' re more willing to try to understand it.

Choose a movie that will provide you with useful vocabulary.

If you are learning English for business, watch movies like Wall Street, BoilerRoom or Office Space. If you are learning English to communicate with successful people, try movies such as The Intern or The Devil Wears Prada. If you are learning English in order to study abroad, watch movies such as Braveheart to learn about history or The Abyss to pick up science-related vocabulary.

Watch each movie at least three times.

When you watch a movie for the first time, focus on understanding the general plot (情节) and noticing some commonly used words and expressions. When you watch it again, turn off the subtitles (字幕). It may seem challenging at first, but it works. The third time you watch it, turn off the subtitles again. After enough practice,you will find it easier to understand movies in English.
