The most useful invention—the Internet

Of all inventions, I think the Internet is the most useful. 

All in all, the Internet makes our life more colourful and interesting. It's a really useful invention. 

It's March, 2050. Frank and Mary Smith wake up in their comfortable house in the morning and switch on the bedroom computer to get the latest news. They used to read the Times, but changed to electronic newspapers many years ago. 

There is the usual news about space: another space flight has returned from Mars and scientists have discovered a new planet. Then they turn to business news: the US dollar has risen greatly in Shanghai, one of the world's leading business centres. Mary tells the computer to buy 5, 000 dollars, and there is a quick response (答复) that it has been done. 

As they watch the screen, Mary orders one of the household robots to make coffee for them. Frank disappears into the study to join a video conference (会议) with his partners (伙伴) around the world. He is a computer engineer, working for several companies. This is his third job: he used to be in marketing and then television. 

Frank and Mary have one daughter, Louise, now thirteen, is studying Chinese at present, which has become a world language as important as English. Louise has many Chinese friends. They communicate by computer. 

According to the family doctor, Louise will live to at least 130. Her wish is to work for a few decades (十年) and then spend her time on music and painting. 

Now, it seems that artificial intelligence（人工智能）is becoming more and more popular in our life, and it has g influenced the ways we live, work and play. Can you i that you can play table tennis with a robot one day? 

Recently, a scientist has invented a s robot that can be a table tennis coach. That m people can practise table tennis not only with humans but also with a robot. 

Named Forpheus, the smart table tennis robot is quite special. It can study the movements of human players and the s of balls. In this way, it can exactly judge（判断）the players' skill levels. Then it uses the information to c the ways to play. If the players are just beginners, Forpheus will play in a slow and easy way, but if the players are better ones, the robot will play in a faster and more difficult way. What's more, while playing, it e players to try their best with the words like "Good job!" "Come on!" and so on. At the same time, it gives some good advice to i their skills. So it is both a good partner and a clever coach. 

Science and technology is developing quickly these years and it's hard to imagine what will h in the future. "In the next 20 years, it will be possible that one robot teaches another one to play table tennis or even invents anther one!" Takuoya, the i of the table tennis robot, said. 

The bicycle is one of the simplest yet most useful inventions in the world. What is the most surprising is that it was not  earlier, although the great inventor Leonardo da Vinci had  pictures for bicycles and flying machines and some other things. Those things were not produced  long after he died. 

A person riding a bicycle uses very little  to make the bicycle move, and there is no pollution at all when you are riding. Even so, in most developed , most people don't go to work by bicycle. It is not  the bicycles are expensive or people feel  if they ride to work. It's because the number of cars on the roads becomes larger. It certainly becomes more  to ride a bicycle. As a result, more people put their bicycles away and go to work  their cars. And in this way, the situation is made more serious. Perhaps the best way to make riding safer and more popular is to , paths only for bicycles.
