Early this morning we all went to the Future Hall to have our graduation ceremony. Our headmaster made a wonderful speech, and many of us 1 to tears.

One day, a professor gave her students a special lesson, which was about an experiment. They went into a 1 . The professor put a shark into a large pool and then put several small fish into it, too. As you would expect, the shark started to swim around the pool. A moment later it 2 to attack (袭击) and eat the small fish. The professor then placed a strong piece of clear glass into the pool dividing the pool into two 3 parts. She put the shark in one part of the pool and the group of fish in the other.

Last week, I asked some of my students to write about their favorite school events of the school year. Here are some of their replies. 

Many beautiful legends and tales have been left in China about the building of the Great Wall. Many of them are based on historical records. Among them, the most popular would probably be the one about Meng Jiangnü. 

It was said that more than 2. 000 years ago when Qin Shi Huang (the first Emperor of Qin) was building the Great Wall, a young man called Fan Xiliang was forced to work on the building of the Great Wall even on his wedding day. Before Fan Xiliang went away, his bride, a girl named Meng Jiangnü, took her hairpin (发簪) and broke it into two halves and gave her husband one half as a symbol of love. Meng Jiangnü waited for her husband at home for years but did not hear a word from him. 

One night, Meng Jiangnü had a bad dream. She dreamed that her husband kept yelling. "Cold, cold! " She recalled that her husband was wearing very thin clothes. Very soon, she made some warm clothes and set off alone to look for Fan Xiliang. After walking a long way on foot, and crossing mountains and rivers, Meng Jiangnü finally got to the construction site of the Great Wall where she was told that her husband had died and been buried under the Great Wall. Hearing this sad news of the death of her husband, she sat down at the foot of the Great Wall and started crying. She cried day and night, and her crying made the wall fall down. She finally saw her husband's bones under the wall. This made Qin Shi Huang very angry, and he ordered Meng Jiangnü to be punished. When he saw the young lady, however, he was immediately attracted by her beauty. He asked her to marry him. Meng Jiangnüagreed but asked for a proper funeral for her dead husband. After the funeral, she and Qin Shi Huang went for a trip on the Bohai Sea. How could she marry the bad man who had killed her husband? She could not, so she jumped into the sea without being seen by the guards.

Five tips on improving your memory

Most of us know that our brains become smaller in size as we get older, but do you know that diet and lifestyle have an effect on how well our brains work? 

Research shows that eating lots of fruit, vegetables and proteins (蛋白质) improves the memory.  Eating oily fish or dark chocolate (with over 70% cocoa) and taking Vitamin D3 can also help make our memory stronger. 

 A 2011 study showed that regular exercise actually increases brain size. Another study found that exercise improves the memory in some older people; surprisingly it found that one single training period has the same effect on the memory as a regular, long exercise period! 

One study found that eight weeks of short, daily meditation (冥想) improves the memory. Other ways to relax can also improve our short-term memory. Try taking 5-10 minutes of your day to meditate or listen to music.  

Experts say that age reduces our ability to learn, but sleep can help.  A 2019 study found that students learn things better before and after a short sleep! 

 Try to memorize information like phone numbers and addresses rather than putting the information in your phone. You could also learn a language or do brain training like crosswords (填字游戏).

I remember all the things that happened in my junior high school. They make me have a lot of sweet memories. 

In Grade 7, after I came to this school, I did my homework carefully to meet the of our strict teachers. Before the art festival, I prepared for it in a hurry and I made a big . But my art teacher wasn't angry. She encouraged me to learn from the mistakes and face difficulties bravely. Then I tried  best to work hard and finally won a prize. 

In Grade 8, I was on the school basketball team. In a big competition, we met many teams  players were much stronger than us. We got bad scores in the first half of the game.  we didn't lose heart and still pulled together. To everyone's surprise, by the end of the competition, we won the game. Our P. E. teacher and schoolmates were so excited that they  us with a tight (紧紧的) hug. 

In Grade 9, when big tests were of me, I felt really nervous and afraid. I had some problems with my English. I failed English tests in a row. However, my English teacher didn't give up. She was  and supported me all the time. She told me to read more books more and find out the grammar rules. At last, I made great progress in the English test. 

Now I will  from this school. I feel sad but thankful. Thank you, my dear teachers and friends. I will miss you all the time.

Ben has just started a school club called "Helping Dreams". He got the idea after reading the news about a company. This company helped school children who felt bored or worried. Ben was inspired by this idea, and he wanted to do something to help others like that. Ben learned about finding pieces of machines or clothes and inventing something new with them. He sold the new objects during the lunch break. With the money he helped the kids who felt lonely. 

Ben understands that if he wants to help more people, he should do it as a team. Ben says, "You don't need to know lots of facts or be good at science in my club. You can make a new game from an old CD player or some jewelry from used handbags."

His simple idea has grown and his schoolmates think his club is fantastic! Many people have joined him. He's finding ways to make his helpful ideas cost less. He also plans to have "Helping Dreams" clubs in every school because he hopes any child can join the team for free. 

Ben feels amazed because his club is so popular and he says, "It's important to talk to someone when you feel unhappy at school. What's more, you should try to have fun with friends, and my club helps with that, too! Anything is possible! Look at me and my dream!"
