• 1、Winter is hard for most animals, so some birds and animals travel south for the winter.

The groundhog (土拨鼠), however, lives through winter in a different way. As soon as it feels the weather turning cold, it starts to dig a hole (挖洞) at least 1.5 metres deep (深). There it makes a comfortable home with leaves and grass. It spends the cold winter months in its bed under the ground and it won't come out until spring.

The groundhog doesn't eat at all during the winter. Instead, it eats as much and as often as it can during the summer. As winter comes, the groundhog becomes so heavy that it can hardly move. When it wants to sleep, it goes back to the hole and falls into a deep sleep. Its breathing almost stops, its heartbeat (心跳) slows, and its body temperature falls to just above 0℃ during the sleep. When it gets up in spring, its weight is only half of that in autumn. By February or March, it's ready to leave its hole.

So years ago, people often waited for the first groundhog to go out of the hole. When it did, they knew spring was coming. There are some stories about it. One of them is about a groundhog called Phil. This animal could tell the weather. Phil went out of the hole and looked around every February 2nd. If he saw his shadow (影子), it meant that the winter would last for six more weeks. If the weather was cloudy and he didn't see his shadow, it meant spring would be early.

  • 2、Dear Mum and Dad,

①This is my fifth day at the summer camp. I think I should tell you what I did in the camp.

②First, everyone had to get up at 5:30 in the morning. Then, we had breakfast at about 6:30. After that, we had some free time, so I went to the nearby lake to fish. But yesterday, I fell into the water and got wet.

③In the afternoon, there were different activities for us to choose from, such as archery (射箭术), horseback riding and hiking. I thought archery would be good for me, but I shot (射中) Jeff's hat. As a result, they never asked me to come again after that.

④In the evening, everyone had a different job to help prepare dinner. Yesterday, it was my job to cook the hot dogs, but I dropped them into the fire by mistake, so we had to eat bread instead. The other kids complained (抱怨) about it. At night, we sat around a campfire, singing songs and telling stories. That was usually fun. But one night, when I was trying to find more sticks (枯枝) for the fire, I got lost in the forest. After about an hour, I finally found my way back, but no one seemed to know what had happened.

⑤Well, today is another day and tomorrow I will go home. I have learned that camping is interesting but difficult. I am tired, but I might go to a camp again in the future.

Today I visited the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge(花江峡谷大桥) in Guizhou, and it was amazing! And guess what? It has set two world records! It is now the highest bridge in the world and also the longest one in a mountain valley.

Let me tell you more about it. The bridge is super tall—625 meters from the road down to the river! It's also very long—1,420meters between the two big towers. The guide told us it only took three years and eight months to build the bridge. Isn't that cool?

Building this bridge wasn't easy. Workers had to face strong winds and work high up in the mountains. They used smart technology to put all the parts together. Also, there were many caves(洞穴) under the bridge! They used special tools to fill them and make the ground strong.

The bridge helps people a lot. Crossing the canyon took two hours before. Now, it takes only two minutes! This is helping nearby villages develop. Many people are coming back to open small hotels and restaurants.

But the bridge isn't just for cars—it's also a fun place! It has the world's highest bungee jump (蹦极跳). I walked on a glass walkway and had a drink at a coffee shop high above the ground. Soon, there will be a museum in one tower. The bridge is smart, too. It has special sensors to check if everything is safe.

Visiting the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge made me realize that great engineering could bring people together, improve lives, and work in harmony(和谐) with nature. It really shows China's skill in building amazing things!

    The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge

    World Records

It is now in the world and the longest one in a mountain valley.

    Construction Challenge

Building this bridge wasn't easy. However, workers only spent three years and eight months .

They used smart technology to put all the parts together and to fill caves.

    Travel Time Saved

The bridge helps people because the travel time across the canyon is much now. It takes only two minutes.

Do you want to try the world's highest bungee jump? Why or why not?

Have you ever thought about what makes someone a true friend? But that's not always true. In fact, both friends who are similar to you and friends who are different from you can bring something special into your life—each in their own unique (独特的) way.

Friends who are like you understand you easily. You enjoy the same hobbies—maybe playing basketball, watching funny videos, or drawing cartoons. When you feel happy, they laugh with you. When you feel sad, they know how to comfort you. Being with them is comfortable, just like wearing your favorite hoodie (连帽衫) on a cool day.

In fact, friends who are different open a new door for you. Maybe you are quiet and love reading books, while your friend is outgoing and loves dancing. They might invite you to a school party or teach you a new game. Sometimes you may have different opinions. Through these small "conflicts (冲突)", you learn to understand, respect, and accept other people's ideas. This helps you grow and see the world in a wider way.

Similar friends bring you comfort; different friends bring you change. Both kinds teach you important things about life: how to share, how to listen and how to care. What matters is that you learn from each other, support each other, and grow together.

Different flowers make it more beautiful. With all kinds of friends around, your world will be full of joy, understanding, and wonderful surprises.

    A. Friends who are different encourage you to try new things.

    B. Always remember: real friendship is like a colorful garden.

    C. It doesn't matter whether your friend is similar to you or not.

    D. They make you feel that you are not alone, like light in the dark.

    E. For example, you want to stay at home, but they want to go hiking outside.

    F. Many people believe friends must like the same things and act the same way.

A robot called Mobile ALOHA caught the eyes of many people because of a video on the Internet. There,it was cooking at someone's home.

Scientists at Stanford University developed the robot and it can do different kinds of housework, like watering plants, petting cats, cleaning the floor, and washing clothes. It even knows how to shake the pillow (抖枕头) after putting it into a pillow cover.

As the saying goes,"Every coin has two sides." In another video, Mobile ALOHA carelessly breaks the glasses and plates, runs into a table, and even burns (烧焦) a pot. The idea of having a robot as a servant may just be wishful thinking. Scientists keep working on this problem. Now the robot can move chairs right 80% of the time. For cooking dishes, it's only 40%. That's because Mobile ALOHA doesn't have self-learning abilities. Instead, it always learns from people first before doing each kind of housework. When something changes, it can't work well and may easily make trouble. Scientists say that such AI robots can do better in difficult things, such as working out maths problems and playing chess. When it comes to easy chores like cleaning, they face difficulties and sometimes act worse than a one-year-old child! It's the same for Mobile ALOHA.

"There is always room to improve," Stanford team said. "Before robots can do all chores well, let's enjoy the moments when families roll up their sleeves (卷起袖子) and work together."

What's my sweetest childhood memory? Well, actually, it's not a toy or a game, but a round table in my house. When I was little, my whole family would get together around the table for dinner on almost every festival. While the adults (成年人) talked about things we kids didn't understand, we played games under the table.

When I grew a little older, my aunt brought her boyfriend home. He was tall and shy. My grandma happily added another seat to the round table. It became a bit more crowded (拥挤的), but it made us feel closer to him. When I was 12, my grandpa died. We still kept his seat at the table. It felt like he was still with us.

Many families in China have a table like this. In China, almost everything can happen around a round table. For example, a couple can get married (结婚) around it. We can remember loved ones who died on it. And when we have problems, we talk with our family—all around the same round table.

Every year, before the Spring Festival, millions of Chinese people, men and women, young and old, the rich and the poor, will travel back home. Wherever they are, they always find a way to return to their families and gather around the round table. This tradition has been around for thousands of years. Our lives are a big journey to find our way home back to that round table, where we belong.

The round table is a symbol of Chinese family reunion (团圆), love and connection. It was, it is, and it will always be.
