Stars and Constellations
When you look up at night, you can see thousands of stars. Stars are huge balls of burning gas, like our sun. They are very far away, which is why they look so small.
People have studied stars for thousands of years. They noticed that some stars form patterns called constellations. These patterns were named after animals, heroes, and mythological creatures.
One famous constellation is Ursa Major, also known as the Big Dipper. It looks like a big spoon. Another is Orion, which looks like a hunter with a belt.
Ancient people used constellations to tell time and find their way. Sailors used them to navigate on the ocean. Today, astronomers still study stars to learn more about the universe.
Looking at stars can make you feel small, but it's amazing to think about how big and wonderful our universe is.
