When learning a new language, many people depend on translation(翻译). They first think in their mother language, then turn their thoughts into English before speaking. The best way to improve it is to think directly in English. 

To speak a language well, you need to create separate spaces for each language in your brain. If you often translate between languages, your brain gets stuck in the middle. It makes your replies slower.  It allows you to prepare words and ideas quickly, without being troubled by Chinese grammar.

Often no larger than a few tennis courts ( 场 ) and, above  all, within neighbourhoods close to where people live, these green spaces can increase community connections. They provide a place to meet neighbours, or a play area for children. Green gyms or ball game areas can give local people a space to exercise in, improving public health. Local businesses can use spaces to organize events to sell their products. A study by the University of Philadelphia, showed that crime (犯罪)was reduced in neighbourhoods with pocket parks, compared to those without. Studies report that where space is used to make pocket parks, communities feel greater ownership of their neighbourhood. 

As well as benefits for the human population, an increase in green space can benefit the local environment. Pocket parks allow wildlife to travel across the city. Tree branches and leaves spread out and cover the parks, so they can help to reduce temperatures. Trees also help to reduce air pollution. Green space can reduce flood risks, because it allows water to float away. 

Pocket parks are providing valuable relaxing places. With the rapid development of cities, pocket parks have become a cheap way to improve communities and local environments. 

Sophia, a Chinese student from the University of Oxford has made headlines after sharing her unusual experience of watching "Ne Zha:Demon Child Conquers the Sea(Ne Zha  2)"3 times a day for eight days during her winter holiday in China. The 21-year-old woman spent over 2, 000 yuan on tickets for the hit film, which has made over 12 billion yuan so far since the Chinese New Year, according to Chinese media reports.

For more than a month, the world has been excited about a new Al model, DeepSeek-Rl. It was developed by DeepSeek, a Chinese business based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. 

The new AI came out on Jan. 20. In just one week, it beat OpenAI's ChatGPT and became the top free application in Apple's App Store, reported Xinhua. 

Its developer said that DeepSeek-R1 is as good at difficult tasks as other big models but needs less computing power. It is also the cheapest of its kind and took only about 5. 57 million US dollars (40. 58 million yuan) to develop. That is the way less than the hundreds of millions or even billions that US businesses have had to spend in building similar AI models. 

DeepSeek-Rl's success largely came from its special training method. Traditionally, AI is trained in two ways.  One is Chain-of-Thought (CoT,思维链), where AI learns to break problems into smaller, simpler steps. The other is Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT, 监督微调), which works by showing AI lots of practice problems along with the right answers for it to find a pattern. 

DeepSeek-RI, however, used Reinforcement Learning (RL, 强化学习)as the main method, Xinhua reported. In RL, AI learns by trying different things. It gets rewards for correct actions and gets punished for mistakes. For example, in a game, it gets points for picking up litter and     ▲    Over time, it works out the best solution all by itself. 

This is how DeepSeek-Rl has grown to be a reasoning model, which is a new type of AI, named Microsoft engineer Vinayak Hegde. Common AI models, like GPT-40, usually just give direct answers. But reasoning models are trained to both think and show the process. 

I was a pretty active child, always running around and knocking into things. My mother showed her worries to the doctor when he put stitches(缝合针)in my arm for the third time. The doctor suggested I should take up fishing. But since I had nearly died in a lake later, my mother ruled water out of my life. Finally, she chose reading as the only solution for my condition.

Little by little, the books became longer and more difficult. I was in the middle of reading The Lord of the Rings when my mother said that I was reading too much and that I should run around outside like I used to. But by then. I was lost myself in long stories like Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. 

To this day, I think of books as a secret friend to whom I can always turn for advice. A good book must have two things: make us happy and teach us something. If a book doesn't interest you after twenty pages, put it down and try another. 

People usually think voluntering is just for adults. It seems hard for students like us. But it is totally different in Canada. The government encourages people of any age to volunteer in public and make contributions （贡献)to the whole society. Therefore, if students want to graduate(毕业)from high school, 30 hours of volunteering is needed. If students want to get into a good university, it helps if they contribute a lot to society. Volunteering is an important point that universities will think about. 

Besides, there are volunteer chances everywhere. People can find information about how to volunteer posted in the library or on the Internet. It includes many different jobs, such as wrapping(包装)gifts in a shopping mall, taking care of small kids or cleaning up a church. Students can choose what they want to do and register (注册) online.
