Every one of us has a chance to try new things. When we try something new, there's always the risk. 

The risk (风险) is that we will not be happy with our choice. For example, we may try a food we have never had before. And we don't like the food finally. It can be too sour, too salty or too spicy. We may see a different kind of art and be completely disappointed (失望的), too. 

It sounds risky to us. But it is not so bad to take risks. For example, we can try a new food. And we fall in love with it finally. It can be sweet or tastes very good. We may try a new sport and fall down but we get back up and finally experience pleasure, even for a minute! We may see why people love that sport so much. 

If we try a new kind of music, we may regret we didn't find it sooner. We can see a new kind of art and may be surprised at its beauty. We can try to write or speak a different language, and we may be a little embarrassed at first, but we know that the only way to improve is to make mistakes and keep on trying. 

All in all, keep trying something new. Then you will have chances to get rewards (回报). 

My wonder of space

When I was young, I was just an ordinary child. Often in summer, I would look up at the sky to watch the countless stars and bright moon. I wonder, "Could I go to space?"

When I was five, I read many books about astronomy. I had a clearer understanding of space: It is freezing and dark without any water, air and life. 

When I went to primary school, I started to pay attention to some news about space. Recently, China's Shenzhou - 19 spacecraft was successfully launched. When hearing the news, I hope there will be a space travel project when I grow up that will send people to space. 

If I could get a ticket like that, I would be really excited and shout, "I have the chance to go to space!" Although it will only be a twelve - minute trip, it would be a special experience to go to space, fly 100 km and look back at China!

The dreams of my childhood would have come true! By then, I would definitely take my mom with me to explore the universe.

On July 24, 2025, Xu Congxiang, a farmer from Taihe County, Anhui Province, was honored as a"Role Model of the Times" for his great work in agriculture(农业). He has spent over 50 years working in the1 . 

In 1972, after graduating from high school, Xu Congxiang returned to his hometown to farm. At that time, grain yields(粮食产量) were low, and people often went 2 . He decided to change this situation. Then he tried simple but smart ideas to 3 the grain yields.

Besides, art is a powerful tool to share your feelings, your identity and your relationships with friends and family. 

Creating art needs inspiration. Artists find ideas in the world around them. Now, let's see how to find your inspiration. 

Tip 1: Look around. Art shows how you connect with the world, so look at nature and notice colors and shapes in your home. 

Tip 2: Art is for everyone. You don't need to be great at drawing—— anything can be turned into art. 

Tip 3: Open your mind. You are shaped by your experiences—— feel free to show your feelings and experiences. 

From time to time, you may suffer from being overwhelmed(难以承受的). You may feel disappointed, sad, hurt or even helpless.  Here is some advice to help you. 

Know your feelings. It can be hard sometimes to find the right words to express what you' re feeling. The Feelings Wheel can help. 

  Recognise your primary feeling in the middle of the wheel, and then see what other feelings this connects with as you look outwards from the center. This can help you get clear about what you' re feeling. 

Accept what you feel. It is okay to feel lonely; it is okay to feel nervous; and it is okay to feel as if the world is going to end.   There's nothing wrong with you feeling this way. Many of us do too, at different points in our lives. 

Make a list. Sometimes you may feel overwhelmed when you have too many things to do. Perhaps there is too much to study, or you may have a long to- do list when organising a birthday party.   Then, list the tasks in order of importance or urgency(紧迫性). You will feel calmer when you finish the list—— you would have control over the tasks and yourself!

Learning to manage overwhelming feelings takes time and practice.   Learn what works best for you. You only have one YOU !

Have you ever had a small stain(污渍) on your shirt and felt as if everyone was looking at it all day? Or perhaps you made a small mistake during a talk and thought it was something that everyone would remember? If so, you have experienced the "spotlight effect(聚光灯效应)". 

The spotlight effect means that we usually think people are paying more attention to our looks or actions than they actually do. The term was created by researchers Thomas Gilovich and Kenneth Savitsky after some experiments(实验) in the 1990s. In one study, they asked some college students to wear very ugly T-shirt s into a room full of their classmates. The T-shirt wearers thought that about half of the other students would notice their T-shirts. However, only about 25% did. The explanation for this phenomenon(现象) is surprisingly simple: We are all the center of our own world. We are used to experiencing everything from our own view, including our mistakes, successes and failures. 

However, while you are busy worrying that everyone is looking at you, other people are usually focusing on their own worries and experiences. When you make a small mistake during your speech, most people are probably thinking about their own upcoming speeches. When you feel that your terrible hairstyle is easy to be noticed, others are probably too busy paying attention to their own looks to notice yours. This doesn't mean no one ever notices anything about you—— they do. But they don't pay as much attention or remember as you think they do. 

Understanding the spotlight effect can be very relaxing. So next time you feel worried about something small, remember: the spotlight in your mind is likely much brighter than others see you.

Two months ago, I didn't do well in an exam. I felt so disappointed that I didn't want to talk to anyone. My mom   . Then she invited me to plant some flowers with her!

I was in low spirits at first. She patiently showed me how to do every step. I had never used a garden hose(水管) before, so when I  too fast, water sprayed(飞溅) all over my face! Mom laughed and taught me how to control the water flow. Surprisingly, as I  the task, I began to feel better. 

Today Mom took me to the garden excitedly. I was surprised to find that it was full of beautiful flowers. It made me feel happy and   myself. I realized that as flowers need time and care to bloom(绽放), my bad feelings wouldn't last forever. It is much better to   than to stay sad. 

Now, whenever I feel down, I remember what those flowers brought to me. 

A beautiful collection of traditional handmade art pieces was shown at a cultural center in Chongqing. Among the traditional handmade pieces on display, a desk lamp(台灯) with Sichuan-style embroidery(刺绣) of wooden houses became the star. This creative lamp has even been chosen as an official gift for foreign friends!

The lamps come in different shapes and styles, all designed with old pictures of old city houses. Both the silk embroidery and wooden frames(框架) are completely made by hand. "We want to help more people understand our traditional embroidery art through useful daily items, " said the designer Hua Mei. 

Creating these lamps was a challenge that required teamwork.  The artists spent six months solving problems like preventing color fading(褪色) and ensuring materials met safety standards. After creating 50 test models, they succeeded by mixing old house styles with modern designs. 

The lamps won first prize in a competition, showing that following design rules leads to success. Currently, Hua Mei's team now has 50 artists but needs more young learners. "Rules protect our cultural roots, " she said, encouraging schools to teach these skills. 

And protecting traditional art pieces means protecting the cultural foundation (基础) of the Chinese nation. This year, Hua Mei set up a new experience center with clear rules. Here, visitors can try making 20different traditional art pieces themselves. "Rules here teach visitors to respect and protect heritage while having fun, " she explained. 

Hua Mei also plans international cultural exchanges.  She believes protecting heritage isn't just about keeping old things safe—— it's about sharing them with today's world. "By following both traditional and modern rules, we can make our culture shine globally, " she added. 

Good manners are necessary in society. Many think good manners stop them from doing what they want to do, but in fact they give you a social advantage. Read on for some manners you should learn. 

Greet the guest warmly. When someone visits your parents, you need to say hello to the guest warmly. Maybe you feel uncomfortable shaking hands with him, but you should still look into his eyes or give him a friendly smile. 

Offer to clean up. After a birthday party or dinner, you should help sweep the floor, do the dishes or take out the rubbish. Even if you don't make the mess, you are supposed to help put away things, for you are part of the gathering. This small act shows responsibility and consideration for others' efforts. 

Consider others' dislikes. Listen to people when they tell you what they don't like, whether it's a friend who doesn't want a hug, a cousin who doesn't want to share his snacks, or a parent who doesn't think you can open the bathroom door without knocking. 

Do small acts of kindness. There are plenty of things that you can do for others, like holding doors open, giving up seats to the old, or letting someone go first in line. These not only show your understanding of what others need, but also help society run smoothly. 

Include everyone. Sometimes you don't want to talk to others simply because you don't like them. You don't have to be good friends with everyone, but you should notice people around you. Try to put yourself in someone else's shoes. 

Caring about basic manners will set you ahead of others, make you confident in new situations, and help you become popular among people. After all, good manners are not just rules to follow, but a way to show that you care about the people around you. 

Do you find it hard to get out of bed in the morning during the winter? It's not surprising because the cold temperature makes us unwilling to leave the warmth of our beds. Remember you' re not alone.   But what else makes it so hard for us to get up in winter?

One big reason is that we get less sunlight. Some hormones(荷尔蒙) influence our sleep. For example, melatonin(褪黑素) makes us sleepy, while cortisol(皮质醇) makes us energetic. Sunlight helps us wake up. That's because it helps our bodies produce less melatonin and more cortisol.  

Besides, our habits may change when the days are colder and darker. We may tend to eat more sweet food, such as cakes and chocolate. What's worse, we don't exercise as much as we do in other seasons.  As a result, we may find it harder to get up early. 

No matter how our bodies change in winter, we need to get up. These methods may help:

Get a sunrise alarm clock. This kind of clock is designed to slowly light up your room like the sun does. This can help wake up your body when the alarm clock goes off. 

  This will make your room warm and comfortable when you get out of bed. This small step can make your mornings much more pleasant. 

Keep a glass of water by your bed. You can drink it when you wake up.   Drinking water in the morning also cleans your stomach and gives you energy for the day.

HORSE比赛的新规则

Mareya and Ollie are my best friends. They are both exercise fans, but they have 1 ideas about rules. Mareya follows rules strictly but Ollie doesn't.

What animal makes the best pets

Willie the parrot, saved the baby

The two-year-old baby, Hannah, was eating when something got stuck in her throat. Her mother was in the bathroom at the time. She suddenly heard the bird screaming (尖叫) and making noises with its wings. "Then he started saying ‘mama baby' over and over and over again until I came out," the mother said. "I saw the baby's face was blue. I quickly removed the food from her throat. My baby was saved but Willie was the real hero. " Willie later received an award for saving the baby's life!

Buddy, the dog, saved her owner

Buddy was a clever German shepherd (德国牧羊犬). When he was eight weeks old, Buddy came to live with Joe. Joe suffers from seizures (中风发作) that make him unable to move easily. Joe taught his new dog to do something around him, such as, to bring him the phone. Joe also trained Buddy how to call 91l when he started to experience the seizure. So when Joe had a really bad seizure, Buddy was the one who called for help and began making sounds into the phone. Emergency rescue (急救) workers arrived within minutes and found Joe. They took him to the hospital where he recovered. Joe later said, "Buddy's my world. He's my best friend, no doubt. He's always there,and I just hope I can be as good to him as he's been to me. "

Winnie, the cat, saved the family

One night, the gas at Cathy's home began to leak (泄漏). The family were sleeping. Their cat, Winnie, began to push her owners and made loud meowing sounds. "It was a crazy meow, almost like she was screaming," said Cathy. Cathy woke up and was already feeling sick. It was hard for her to wake up her husband and son because they already breathed in a large amount of gas. But thanks to their heroic cat Winnie, Cathy was able to call 911 and get help before anyone was hurt. The family say that Winnie is the one who saved their lives. 

How do you greet your friends? People from different cultures have different answers: shaking hands, nodding, bowing (鞠躬), and kissing on the face. But do you know how animals "say hello" to each other? Here are some examples. 

Everyone knows how similar chimpanzees(黑猩猩) are to humans. So the most usual ways of greeting between chimpanzees are handshaking and hugging. Sometimes they also kiss each other. Some chimpanzees can even learn easy sign language.
