8、 阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
This is a story from a meeting held by some people and two things in nature. We call it the Four-Sided Talk. Let's "listen to" everyone carefully and find out what they think.
An old tree: I am thousands of years old, but I have fewer and fewer friends. I'm afraid I will be cut someday. People cut down many trees to make paper and chopsticks. Soon there will be no trees to make air and to protect people from floods. Mother nature is making many disasters to teach people a lesson.
The river: What the old tree said is right. I not only make the earth more beautiful, but provide the clean water for people and animals. Now I'm sad because people put waste into me, which kills many animals and plants that drink my water. Some people drink this kind of water and get sick, too.
People: We have lived on the earth since ancient times. The earth is our home. We have done some harm to our home! From now on, we should make full use of the resources on the earth and protect the earth. Let's try our best!
The United Nations: We know a little about the environmental problems. Hearing what all of you said, we've decided to protect the earth and love the earth. We've also made the June 5th World Environment Day.
(1)、What is the meeting called in the story?(2)、Why do people cut down a lot of trees?(3)、How long have people lived on the earth?(4)、How does nature teach people a lesson?(5)、What should we students do after reading this passage? -

Could you imagine being in a car driven by a computer, not a human? Recently, China has made a big step toward self-driving technology. So far, driverless taxis have appeared on the roads of Wuhan, Chongqing and Shenzhen.
Why do we develop self-driving cars? Self-driving cars give us many benefits. They use computers to sense the things around them and make better use of space. This means fewer traffic jams and better parking of cars. For disabled or blind people, self-driving cars can also help them get around more easily.
According to official statistics (统计数据), self-driving cars could reduce road accidents by 90 percent and save the government a lot of money. The main cause of car accidents is human error (错误). By using computers, self-driving cars don't make poor decisions or lose focus like humans do.
But self-driving cars aren't perfect. If something unexpected happens, self-driving cars can't react (反应) as fast as a human driver. Also, during weather events like heavy snow, self-driving cars would fail to see the lines on the road easily. It might lead to an accident. The car's computer system would be broken by someone, causing it to crash or change its direction.
"It is clear that there is a lot of work to do to make self-driving cars a common and safe sight on our roads. And China is taking the lead in making this happen," said China Daily.

D、The advantages of having a human driver.(3)、Which is TRUE about self-driving cars?A、They are very perfect now. B、They often make poor decisions. C、They have caused many accidents. D、They do not lose focus like humans do.(4)、What can we know from the text?A、China has already made self-driving cars common. B、China plans to help more disabled and blind people. C、China is going to cut its costs in self-driving cars. D、China is trying to make self-driving cars safer and more common. -

Years ago, a woman noticed my three boys and asked if they were brothers. When I said yes, she asked, "Oh, they look so different! Do they have the same dad?" I knew that she was just trying to make polite small talk, but her question made me uncomfortable.
So proper etiquette (礼仪) for small talk is important. But what are those etiquette rules? Here are two examples.
Where are you really from?
You look great! Have you lost weight?
What you mean
I notice something different about you, and I'm curious (好奇的) about you.
You look fantastic, and I am curious about what changed.
What they hear
You look or sound different, so you must not be from there.
You have to lose weight to look good.
Example
"I was born in South Korea and adopted (收养) by my white parents, so I was raised in the US," says Leo Patrick. "But because I look Korean, when I say I'm from the US, people will reply, ‘No, where are you really from?' It makes me feel like I'm an outsider."
"Talking about weight is almost never that right," Temple says. In fact, many of the "polite" ways people use to talk about weight are straight up rude.
Solution(解决办法)
You can say like this, "It's so nice to meet you! Tell me a little bit more about yourself."
Say this instead, "You look so happy! What's new in your life these days?" Just don't bring up weight at all.

B、The writer wants to show us how she replied to the woman. C、"Where are you really from?" is a good example of small talk. D、Leo Patrick is an American who grew up in South Korea.(3)、Where can we probably read the text?A、In a science fiction. B、In a storybook. C、In a magazine. D、In a tour guidebook. -
