Beijing Roast Duck, also known as Peking Duck, is one of China's most famous dishes. It has a history of over 600 years. Back in the Ming Dynasty(1368—1644), it was a dish only for the imperial court（皇宫）. During the Qing Dynasty(1644——1912), it became more popular and, at last the public（公众）could enjoy it.

Terry Fox was a young man from Canada. He showed the world the power of hope. Born in 1958, Terry loved sports. However, he received bad news in 1976——he had bone cancer, and his right leg had to be cut off（切除）。

Should he keep going, or give up? Terry decided to fight back. In 1980, he began the Marathon of Hope——a cross-Canada run to collect money for cancer research. Nobody thought he would make it. With an artificial leg（假肢）, he started at 4:30 am and ran about 42kilometres every day. He paid no attention to the great pain and bad weather. For the first days of his marathon, Terry Fox was alone. Day by day, people saw that something big was happening on the lonely road. People across the country were moved by him and started donating（捐赠）。

Sadly, after 143 days and 5, 373 kilometres, Terry's cancer got worse, and he couldn't even stand up. As a result, he had to stop. He died in 1981, but his story lives on. In his short life, he collected $24 million for cancer research——three dollars for each family in Canada. 

The first Terry Fox Run was in 1981, and thousands of people joined it each year later. It is now the world's largest one-day charity run for cancer research.

My Healthy and Happy School Life

For many kids, summer holiday is to relax and have a good time. But for Jason, eleven-year-old boy, it is a time for making money.

When it comes to cold weather, we may think that it's always quite difficult for us in such a season. However, it also brings fun sports. It's still true for you to enjoy yourselves outside.

Animals are our friends. We know that dogs can help blind people go to some places. Now, horses can also do it. Digby is a small American horse. Now, it is the first guide horse in England. And its owner is a blind man named Mohammed Patel. Patel is afraid of dogs, so he chooses Digby as his guide. 

Digby gets a lot of training with Patel. It learns to walk slowly and lead Patel to walk on the street and get books and magazines for him. It also helps Patel choose clothes when he goes shopping. 

Now, it is not a small horse. It is very big and about 0.8 meters tall so Patel can't take it to his company. When Patel takes it to the office, it knocks things off the desks. So Patel has to say goodbye to Digby. Luckily, Digby has a new job. It helps blind people travel around some places in London. It also helps blind people get to the bus station. 

As we know, a guide dog has only eight years of working life, but a guide horse can live for about 50 years. So a guide horse can be a "lifelong friend" for people.
