The area of the Yinchuan Wetland Park was once a place that people disliked: wastewater caused terrible smells and almost no grass could grow on the land. Now, it not only becomes a popular place for people to take a walk, but also a good place for birds and other animals to live.

Li Zhijun is a member of the bird protecting organization. He saw the great changes at the park. According to him, the Yinchuan Wetland Park has become a famous place for bird photographers. More birds would like to stay here in winter.

Besides Ningxia, many cities in China make great efforts to protect wetlands.

Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province, is known as "a city of a hundred lakes". The city has five large wetland reserves. Thousands of birds come to stay here in winter.

Panjin in Liaoning Province is another surprising wetland city. In the past, the city has a lot of environmental problems because of oil production. But now in the wetlands by the sea, seagrass turns red every autumn, creating beautiful "red beaches".

Chen Zhihai, a local fishery worker, said, "In the past, there were almost no wild fish. Thanks to the efforts of Panjin people, now the wetland is back again!"

There is a small park near Reem's home. She likes to go there with her mom. She also likes to play in the park with her friends. Today when Reem goes to the park, she looks around and becomes very sad.

"What is wrong, Reem?" Mom asks.

"There is so much rubbish on the ground," Reem says.

Reem and her mom look around. There are old boxes on the ground. There are popped (爆裂的) balloons on the ground. There are some bottles, too.

"You are right," Mom says. "The park is very dirty."

"What can we do?" Reem asks.

"I am sure you will think of something," Mom says.

Reem and her mom go home. Reem paints a picture of a park. She uses blue, green, brown and yellow paint. "PLEASE KEEP OUR PARK CLEAN!" she writes in big letters at the top of her picture.

Then Reem and her mom go back to the park. Reem takes some rubbish bags with her. She also brings along some tape (胶带). When Reem gets to the park, she tapes her picture on a big rubbish bin. Then she hands her mom a bag. "Will you help me pick up the rubbish?"

"Sure, I will," Mom says.

The children in the park run over to see what is going on. Reem hands them bags.

"Let's clean this place up," she says. The children pick up lots of rubbish. They talk and laugh as they work. Soon all the bags are full.

"The park looks much better (更好)," Reem says with a smile.

"It does," Mom says. "I knew you would think of some ways to help."

Our Blue Planet, Earth, is a wonderful place full of amazing natural wonders. The oceans cover more than 70% of our planet. They are home to millions of different kinds of animals and plants.

In the deep blue sea, we can find colorful coral reefs (珊瑚礁). These reefs are like underwater cities. Small fish hide among the coral, while big whales swim above them. The oceans also have a lot of sea turtles. They swim thousands of miles to lay their eggs on the beaches.

But our oceans are in trouble now. People throw a lot of rubbish into the sea. Plastic bags and bottles can be seen floating on the water. This is bad for the sea animals. Some animals might think the plastic is food and eat it, which can make them sick or even kill them.

We need to take care of our oceans. We can start by not throwing rubbish into the sea. Also, we can tell our friends and family to do the same. Let's work together to keep our blue planet beautiful.
