Four Brothers

(Adapted from Grimm's Fairy Tales)

Once upon a time, there were four brothers.

" I can see farther than anyone," the first brother said. "At the top of that tree, there are five eggs in a nest."

" I am faster than all of you-- l move as quickly as a cat,"  said the second brother. He climbed up, took the eggs quietly, and then put them back. The bird never noticed it.

" I can shoot better than all of you,"  said the third. He then shot a leaf above the nest.

The fourth brother said, " I can sew anything together, even something as soft as that leaf."  In no time, the leaf was as good as new.

Not long after, the king's daughter was taken away by a dragon. The king said whoever brought the princess back could marry her.

The first brother said, " I see her! She is far away, on a rock at sea, with the dragon."  So the brothers sailed to the rock.

The third brother said, " I may hurt the princess if I shoot the dragon. " " Leave it to me,"  said the second brother. 60. He moved as quietly as a mouse and quickly freed the princess.

Suddenly, the dragon began to chase them. The third brother shot it, but its fall broke their ship. Luckily, the fourth brother took his needle and sewed the ship together. Then they sailed home safely.

The happy king asked, " Which of you will marry my daughter?" The brothers began to argue. Each brother believed that he did more than the others. Finally, the king said, " Each of you is as good as the others, but you are much stronger together. Instead, I give half of my kingdom to you as a reward." The brothers were pleased. It was much better to share than to fight.

What is a good friend? Maybe different people have different answers. I have a good friend named Zhou Ming. We like playing soccer very much, but he is  (strong) than me.We are both on our school soccer team. Last month our team had a match against a team from No. 20 Middle School. At first, we didn't do well and felt sorry. But at last we tried our best and (win) the game. We were all  (excite) and hugged each other tightly（紧紧拥抱）. It was really wonderful game.

★ Playing stone balls

Make better plans

It's better for you to make a plan before you start to do something. The earlier, the better. You will know what comes first and what comes last.  When changes happen, you can have more time to face them.

You can go around more often. More outdoor activities can keep you relaxed and active. You also need to be kind. "Thank you" can bring a smile to someone's face. Learn to say "sorry" and don't be angry with others.

Find the right friend

A friend may make your life good and he can make your life bad as well, so you have to think twice when you choose a friend. When you get into trouble, he can give you a helping hand.

Never be afraid of failure (失败)

 Even the greatest person failed. We should not be afraid of failure. It is not the end of the road. We must take failure as a way to learn and make ourselves better.

Long ago, when the God first planted a tree in the garden, it was full of energy and kept moving. Then the God pulled the tree out and planted it upside down to make sure it stayed in one place. What's the tree? It's the baobab tree, also called the monkey bread tree, the bottle tree or others. 

The baobab tree is a strange looking tree that grows in Africa and Australia. Just like its name "Bottle Tree", it looks like a large bottle. Some grow as tall as a 16-floor building. During the dry season, these trees are standing there without leaves, and look like trunks (树干) sticking up in the air. But when the rainy season comes, leaves appear and then flowers come out. Later, the flowers can turn into fruit. 

The baobab is called "the tree of life", because it can live longer than 1,000 years old. In the dry land, the baobab tree can pull in and hold 1,000 gallons of water. Thirsty people can drink the water stored in the tree. The fruit, monkey bread, is good to eat. The baobab leaves are a kind of medicine. People can use the bark (树皮) to make paper or cloth. When a baobab gets old, its trunk becomes hollow (空的). An old tree can hold many people. The local people often build their houses inside these trunks. It is such a useful tree. Some people could hardly live without it. 

What great news! On October 30, 2024, China successfully launched (发射) the Shenzhou-19 spaceship. There are three great astronauts in it: Cai Xuze, Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze. Cai Xuze, the group leader, has spaceflight experience before. Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze, the post-90s astronauts, are on their first space trips. Wang is even the first woman spaceflight engineer (工程师) in China.

The astronauts entered the Tiangong space station and met the astronaut team of Shenzhou-18 last Wednesday. They lived and worked together to finish some tasks. The newcomers will stay in the space station for 6 months. There are quite a few important things to do. They will do different experiments (实验), such as space life science and space medicine. Then they need to have spacewalks to put on new special devices (装置) for the the spaceship and plan to give space classes to young students from all over the world.

The success of the Shenzhou-19 mission shows China is doing better in space technology. And behind the success, it is the hard work of Chinese astronauts and scientists. They show us that nothing is too far if we keep reaching for it.

I was born in Canada on December 17th, 1982 and spent my childhood there. In 1995, when I was thirteen, I read  article about a twelve-year-old Pakistani boy, Iqbal, in the newspaper. It changed my life. He started to make a living by  (work) in a factory when he was only four. He knew children should go to school instead of working in  (factory) all day. He decided to fight against the bosses. As a result, a bad man bullied (欺负) him. I was  angry that I decided to help them.

Museums are often full of interesting and beautiful things. There are lots of  (展览会) to see and to enjoy. Last weekend, Tony and Betty went to the museum nearby to do some volunteer work there. The museum is really big,  (包括) several floors with different things on show. Some visitors were enjoying many works of art there. When they were on duty on the  (第四) floor, a girl found that her mobile phone was  (找不到). After looking for it everywhere in the museum, she  (几乎) gave up and felt so worried because her mother might punish her. Luckily, Tony and Betty  (设法完成) to find the phone on the first floor for her. The girl was so excited that she ran  (楼下) to thank the two volunteers, Tony and Betty. Everyone should get into the  (习惯) of taking good care of their things. It is really a  (遗憾) if someone loses something important. What do you think?

When I was fifteen, I found myself home alone for the first time, and I felt excited. However, on the  day, when I was attending my online classes, I  the door, locking myself out. I tried to use one of my childhood inventions to open it, but it didn't work. I kept trying until I realized I had left my keys in an  box in my bedroom. I had to  trying. My parents punished me for this careless habit when they returned from . I apologized and promised to be more careful. From then on, I always made sure to finish like checking my keys before shutting doors.
