Preparing for My Dream Job

I want to be a vet when I grow up. To make this dream come true, I (do) many things now. 

First, I (learn) about animals every day. I read books about dogs, cats and birds. Sometimes, I watch videos of vets treating animals. This helps me know what vets (do) in their daily work.

My Friend's Dream of Being a News Reporter

My best friend, Li Ming, has a big dream—he wants to be a news reporter when he grows up. He says this job is exciting because he can meet different people and know about new events.

Making My Dream Job Plan

Everyone has a dream job. To make my dream of being a vet come true, I made a detailed plan. Here's what I will do:

First, I will study hard at school. I need to learn biology to know about animal bodies and math to calculate medicine doses. I will listen carefully in class and do my homework on time. 

Second, I will get close to animals. I can help my mom take care of our pet dog—feed it, walk it and take it to the pet hospital when it's sick. I will also volunteer at the local zoo on weekends to learn how zookeepers look after animals. 

Third, I will learn from real vets.  I will ask my uncle (he is a vet) to take me to his clinic. I can watch how he treats sick animals and ask him questions about his job. 

Fourth, I will keep a "vet diary". I will write down what I learn about animals and vets every day. For example, if I learn that cats hate water, I will write it in the diary. This will help me remember important things. 

I know being a vet is not easy, but I will stick to my plan. I believe I can make my dream come true.

2. Speech by a Taikonaut:

• At 2:30 p. m. , a former taikonaut will talk about his job. He will show photos of space and answer your questions about being a taikonaut. 

3. Career Advice:

• Teachers will help you write a simple "dream job plan" — you can write your dream job and how to make it come true. 

Tips

• Bring a notebook to write down interesting things about your dream job. 

• Wear comfortable shoes—you will walk around the booths. 

• Ask workers as many questions as you want!

Why We Should Choose a Job That Fits Us

Choosing a job is one of the most important decisions in our life. But many people make a mistake—they choose jobs because others think they are "good", not because the jobs fit them. We should choose a job that matches our personality and hobbies. 

First, a fitting job makes us happy. If you are quiet and love books, being a librarian will make you enjoy every day. But if you are active and love talking, being a librarian may make you bored. When you do a job you like, you will wake up excited to go to work, not tired. 

Second, a fitting job helps us do better. If you are curious and love asking questions, being a news reporter is perfect. You will be willing to work hard to chase news and write good reports. But if you hate talking to people, you will find this job hard. When your skills match the job, you will easily succeed. 

Some people say, "Famous jobs like pilots or doctors are the best. " But that's not true. A job is good only if it fits you. A farmer who loves the land can be as successful as a pilot who loves flying. What matters is not the job's fame, but whether it makes you happy and helps you grow. 

In short, don't follow others when choosing a job. Think about your personality and hobbies. Choose a job that fits you, and you will have a happy and successful life.

Vets work with animals. They need to be kind to help scared pets and patient to treat sick ones. They also need to learn a lot about animal bodies and how to use tools like syringes. 

News reporters are always on the move. They are active to chase news and curious to find out the truth. Writing skills are important—they need to tell stories clearly so readers can understand. 

Librarians work in quiet places. They are careful to put books in the right order and friendly to help readers. They also need to know how to use computers to check books in and out. 

Pilots have a big responsibility—they carry many people. They need to be brave to face bad weather and careful to check every part of the plane. They often train for years to learn all the skills. 

My Job Experience as a Young Fireman

Last Friday, our school held a "Job Experience Day" at the local fire station. I was lucky to join the "young fireman" group. It was one of the most exciting days of my life. 

When we arrived, a real fireman named Uncle Li welcomed us. He showed us the fire trucks and explained how they work. Then, suddenly, the alarm rang—there was a fire call! A house nearby was on fire, and a little girl was still inside. Uncle Li told us to put on the heavy fire uniforms quickly. I felt nervous but excited as I put on the coat and helmet. 

We rushed to the fire scene in the fire truck. When we got there, the house was filled with smoke. Uncle Li taught us to use the fire extinguisher. I held it carefully and sprayed the foam at the small fire. Another group of students helped carry the little girl to safety. After 30 minutes, we put out the fire completely. 

On the way back to school, I thought a lot. Being a fireman is dangerous, but it's also meaningful—they save people's lives and homes. I used to want to be a pilot, but now I'm thinking about being a fireman. I know I need to be brave and strong. I will exercise more and learn about fire safety from now on.
