My Favourite Season

Maddie is a 5 - year - old girl. Spring is her favourite season. At this time every year, two wonderful things happen to her. First her grandma comes and then the cranes (鹤).

Early in the morning, Maddie and Grandma go to the lake to watch the cranes. They see the cranes dance, build their homes, and feed their babies insects and fish.

During the hot summer, the baby cranes grow and become strong.

The weather starts getting cool when the season changes and it's time for Grandma to go back home. Maddie thinks, "The cranes will leave too."

Autumn turns into winter. Maddie and Grandma miss each other but Grandma can't come. They can only talk on the phone. Grandma makes some paper cranes and sends them

Soon, spring is here again. Maddie looks at the sky every day and thinks, "Who will come back first, Grandma or the cranes?" But Mum shares sad news — Grandma is sick (生病的) and she can't visit. The cranes don't come either.

It is almost summer. One day, Maddie hangs the paper cranes on a tree by the lake and waits. The cranes arrive first.

"Why do you come so late, lovely cranes?" Maddie asks.

"They are waiting for me," a familiar (熟悉的) voice from behind her says.

Maddie turns around and sees Grandma standing there, smiling.

Early in the morning, Sam the sheep is preparing for a trip. At this time, Frank the turtle stops him, saying,

"Sam, the  . looks bad today. It's going to rain. You should . in."

"How do you know that?" Sam ask.

Frank  ., "See the little drops on my shell? When it's about to rain, there's more water vapour (水蒸气) in the air. And it turns into drops on my cool back."

Later, Sam notices his friend Bob the spider taking down the web (收网) in a tree.

"Hey, Bob! Is it going to rain?" Sam asks.

"Yeah. Every time  . it rains, the insects fly low and my high web can't catch  .," Bob says sadly.

After hearing that, Sam heads back home. Soon, it starts to  . His trip will have to wait.

If you were 71 years old, how fast could you run a 100 - metre race? Jin Hui, from Qingdao, Shandong Province, gives us his answer - 13.97 seconds (秒)! He is the first Chinese man over the age of 70 to run 100 metres in under 14 seconds.

After Jin retires (退休), he doesn't know what to do with his free time for a while. His son tells him to join a football team for old people in Qingdao. At first, he doesn't play well. He then practises running every day. His teammates (队友) notice how fast he can run, and they encourage him to take part in running races.

With his teammates' encouragement, Jin goes for some running races. To his surprise, he wins many medals(奖章). That  makes him feel really great.

Jin shares his running stories online. He is glad that his stories can make others love sports. He hopes more people, young and old, will join him to exercise and keep fit. He says, "▲ If you have a dream and work hard for it, you can do something amazing even in your old age." As for the future, he will take part in more races and try to break his record (纪录).

Lily is a sunny girl. One morning, she1  her friend Bob sitting by a river, looking sad. Lily wants to make him happy.

"Hi, Bob!" Lily says. "Why the long face?"

"What's there to be happy about? Life is full of 2 ," Bob says.

"Well, the problems are like big and scary storms. But just like clouds, they pass (移动), making way for the3 to shine again. You should try looking on the 4 side!" Lily says.

An Unforgettable Experience

Everyone has some experiences that they can't forget.

What do you often do when you wait for a bus or a train at the station?

Tom was going to Paris by bus. He arrived at the bus station early to catch the bus. The bus for Paris would not leave until twenty past twelve. He was excited about his trip and didn't want to miss it.

Tom saw a lot of people waiting in the station. Some were standing in line, and some were walking around.

The station was noisy. Tom looked around, but there was no place for him to sit. So he walked into Station Coffee

House. It was quiet inside, and the smell of coffee was nice. He looked up at that clock there. It was only a quarter to twelve. He still had a lot of time. He felt happy and relaxe     D. He found a seat and sat down before a large mirror on the wall. The mirror made the room look bigger. Just then, Mike, one of Tom's workmates, came in and sat with

Tom. Mike was also waiting for a bus. "What time is your bus?" asked Mike. "There's plenty of time." answered

Tom. "Well, I'll get you more tea then" said Mike.

They talked while drinking. Time passed quickly. Then Tom looked at the clock again. "Oh! It's going backward!" he crie     D. "A few minutes ago, it was a quarter to twelve and now it's twenty-five to twelve" "You're looking at the clock in the mirror." Mike laughe     D. Tom was so sa     D. The next bus was not to leave for another hour.

He had to wait again. Since then, Tom has never liked mirrors.

This was an unforgettable experience for Tom. He learned to always check the real clock, not the mirror!

Rules are very important in our life. You must follow the rules and you can keep . Rules help us stay away from danger and live happily. For example, water safety rules can save lives.

On Aug. 9th,  three students in Anhui played near a river, two of them drowned (溺亡) in the river.

It was a very sad accident. Many children do not realize how dangerous water can be.

Some children under 14 years old in China  their lives because of drowning every summer. About 57,000  drown each year in the country. Most of these accidents happen in rivers, lakes, or pools without lifeguards (救生员).

How to stop accidents like these? , we must be careful when we are playing near the water or swimming in it. Never run near water. Next, it is never too late to learn how to swim.  swimming may help you avoid drowning. For example, you should know how to float (漂浮) on your back. Floating is  useful way of survival, because people can have time to help you. If you fall into deep water, stay calm and try to float. Then, it is also important to swim only in the places with lifeguards. Never swim in the wild! Always stay with an adult or a frien     D. Last but not least, you should not try to save someone by when he or she is drowning. Jumping into water without training can be very dangerous. You must ask nearby adults  help and call 119 or 120 at once.

Remember, water can be fun, but it can also be deadly. Always follow the rules!

The 2025 Spring Festival Gala amazed audiences worldwide with a performance by dancing robots.

Combining Chinese folk culture with technology, the show became one of the most talked-about moments of the night.

Dressed in bright traditional costumes, the robots performed the lively Yangge dance from northeast China.

Their smooth movements perfectly matched the rhythm of the folk musi     C. The show, called YangBOT, showed robots waving handkerchiefs and dancing like humans. With smart AI and special sensors (传感器) , they kept up

with the music and even copied live dancers' steps.

After dancing, the robots acted"tired" and were playfully carried offstage (到舞台后方), making the audience laugh. This fun idea helped young people enjoy traditional culture. People usually do Yangge dance to share joy in their community. Now robots made this tradition feel new and exciting! Many viewers shared online: "Robots dance like real artists!" and "Technology is magic!"

Though these robots cost about ¥650,000 each, they show China's growing skills in AI and robots. Beyond entertainment, such robots can serve as high-tech assistants in various fields. The 2025 Gala proved that humans and robots can work together to create unforgettable art.

Through this show, the world sees China's great progress in technology. More countries now understand China can make wonderful inventions. We feel proud that our country is becoming stronger and smarter every day.

As teenagers, we should study hard and master scientific knowledge, so that we can contribute to our country's future technological success!
