Thanita Raemee, a 20-year-old student from Thailand, was surprised by the exciting sounds of drums and shouts. She followed the noise through busy streets until she (find) the Ximen Women's Yingge Dance Team. The team started in 1952 and is the (one) all-women Yingge dance group in Chaoshan, Guangdong Province.

Kung fu is one of the oldest sports in the world. It goes back to the Qin Dynasty. Kung fu isn't just a sport. There are lots of ideas  it. In kung fu, the power of your spirit is as  as the power of your body. 

"Kung fu comes from inside, " says Master Tang. "As in all the other sports, if you  harder, you will improve yourselves. But kung fu is  skills and tools. The more you find out about kung fu, the more you learn about yourself. " Today, this traditional art  in schools and clubs around the world. Different  of kung fu, such as Tai Chi and Wing Chun, are loved by people of all ages.

What is a smokejumper?

What do smokejumpers do?

At a fire, smokejumpers first search the land and decide how to fight the fire.  Using basic tools such as shovels and axes, smokejumpers clear land of burnable things, like plants and other dry material. They carry water with them, too, but only a small amount. 

Although many smokejumpers are men, more women are joining. Most important are your height and weight. Smokejumpers must also be good at living in the wild, knowing how to find food and even make furniture from trees.

After exercising, the first thing that many of us want to do is drink up a glass of cold water. To feel the water travel down is so good. However, many people have often told me not to do so. Is drinking cold water really unhealthy? What does science have to say about it? Let's find out. 

Cold water is said to slow down a person's digestion（消化）. Most researchers believe that having cold water or a cold drink reduces our body's temperature. Therefore, the body needs to burn energy to bring our temperature back up to normal. This energy could be spent digesting the food we have just eaten. 

Think of your digestive system as a hot pot that cooks food. If someone suddenly throws cold water into this burning pot, what will happen? Doing this will be dangerous. Similarly, when you drink cold water while eating, it's like adding water to a hot pot. 

Of course, it isn't that bad. But it is a good way to explain why drinking cold water may be a bad idea. That's why many experts suggested that you avoid drinking water during meals. If you can't help doing so, drinking water at room temperature is a better choice. 

Some studies have found that cold water also makes headaches worse. Dr. Peter Mattson supports this idea. His study found that a lot of women experienced headaches after drinking cold water. 

Another problem that often happens as a result of drinking cold water is more mucus（粘液） in your nose and throat. For thousands of years, traditional Chinese medicine has told people not to drink cold drinks. Modern studies have also pointed out that drinking cold water is harmful to your health. So, you'd better not put ice in your water!

I have now been learning French for two years. Recently I' ve noticed that learning French is quite similar to my practice of the djembe（非洲手鼓）. 

To be honest, I was good neither at playing musical instruments nor at learning foreign languages. But one of the great lessons of my childhood is that no one is naturally good at anything. There is a special joy in becoming good at something that I was incompetent at naturally. 

As a kid, I learned to play the djembe. I had a pretty good ear for rhythm（韵律）, but no physical control. For the first year, my performance was terrible. But after two years of practice, I started to make progress. When I finally decided to give up on the instrument, my teacher said my performance was"okay".

So, to speak French, I know I need a different mouth. My words and breath always seem to live elsewhere, even in my resting sounds between pieces of speech. For example, when an American is trying to think of something, she often goes"Uhh, Uhh. " But the French will say"Euh, Euh. " It is not enough just to remember all the words. You have to train your mouth to say them. You need a lot of practice. 

My journey of learning French has continued. When I started to learn the language, my teacher told me it would take me five years to learn it well. Now, I'm thinking it could easily take me ten. 

Trevor walked home from the bus stop. It was the first time his parents wouldn't be home to greet him after school. They had a meeting at his elder brother's high school. Trevor finally had the house to himself.

A 90-year-old English teacher from Michigan has made history by getting a Guinness World Record for teaching the same subject for 67 years. Beverly Hannett-Price  (work) at Detroit Country Day School now. Last Monday the school had a special meeting for her, and she was (surprise) when they gave her the award （奖品）.

Run, jump and have fun

The cold weather can make you want to stay inside with a hot chocolate and a movie and never want to leave.  . The NHS says young people should do 60 minutes of exercise a day—even when the weather makes you want to do the opposite.

Keeping moving in the colder months is an important part of taking care of your body and mind. "Exercise is a great way to make you feel better. It helps you sleep better and keeps you strong and healthy all year round," says Dr Mark Cox, an expert from Orli Health.

Why is it good for you?

Spending time being active outside helps your bones（骨头）stay strong, plus it can even help to improve your memory.  Spending time together can make your friendships stronger too. Besides, you' re most likely to stick with a sport if you' re doing it with your friends.

Where to begin?

Before you head out and start exercising, it's important to be prepared. "Wear warm clothes you can move in," says Dr Cox. "Try to warm up indoors with some light jogging（慢跑）, and always let an adult know where you' re going."  According to Dr Cox, anything goes. "Pick something fun and start small. Put on warm clothes and go for a walk with a friend, kick a football around or have a kitchen dance-off. Anything that gets you moving counts."

AI (人工智能) is a computer system that can learn and do things that usually need a human brain. Some people are using AI to find out what is wrong with them and to help them decide when to see a doctor— or even go to hospital. This is a problem if the advice they get isn't accurate.

AI companies have developed chatbots (聊天机器人) that focus on health problems. But the new study, led by experts at Oxford University in England, shows that they aren't very useful and may give wrong advice when a real person is asking them for help with their health. Almost 1,300 people took part in the study. Each was given unreal health problems and a made-up medical history. For example, one person was told to pretend they had a really bad headache.

The people were divided into two groups. One group could ask the AI chatbots to identify (确认) their illness and say whether they should look after themselves at home or see a doctor. The other group was allowed to use the internet and Google to find out the same information. Real doctors then checked whether the volunteers had worked out their"illness" and what to do next.

The results of the study showed that the people who talked to the AI did the right thing less than half the time and that the AI only correctly identified the problem about a third of the time. In fact, the study found that the AI's advice was no better than just using Google.

"AI just isn't ready to take on the role of a medical expert," said Dr Rebecca Payne, who led the study. She said that asking an AI for health advice can be dangerous. They might give wrong information and fail to know when help is really needed, she said.
