Many students think the dictionary is boring. But teachers have some fun games to make it exciting. These games help you learn new words while playing. 

One game is called Dictionary Race. In this game, the teacher writes a word on the blackboard, then students try to find the word in dictionaries. The first student to find it reads out its meaning aloud. Then he or she can get a point. 

Another interesting game is Word Hunt. The teacher tells a simple rule first. Students may look for all words with the same first letter, for example, words beginning with"s" like"sun", "school" and"sport". Students can also choose a topic, like animals, school things or daily food. If they want to win, they should find the most related（相关的）words in three minutes. 

When students play, they don't feel like they are learning. But they learn many new words in the end. Playing these fun games makes students learn more actively, so they learn new words much faster and better. Next time, play word games with your dictionary. Learning can be fun!

Can people over 70 years old still play basketball well and win big matches? An amazing team from Zhejiang can tell us the answer. 

In May 2026, Zhejiang Donghai Changle Basketball Team won the first place in a basketball match for old people. More than 1, 000 old players from all over China took part in the match. 

This great team started in 1981. Its players are 74 years old on average（平均）. They have different jobs, but they all love basketball deeply. They train together every Sunday all year round. Some kept playing even when they were hurt. The team leader Peng Minjun said, "We are old, but we are still full of energy. We show great teamwork and do our best in every match. " The oldest player Zhang Qin added, "Basketball is my second life. I will keep playing if possible. "

Such wonderful matches have been held for almost 40 years. They help old people stay healthy and make more friends. These players tell us that age is just a number. Go for your dreams - it's never too late.

My way of having fun

Leo was a quiet boy. He didn't talk much. One day, his teacher gave the class a task:"For one week, try to make someone smile every day. Count every smile you get and (write) them down.

Ice-cream is a popular food all over the world. It has a long history and (丰富) food culture. It is made from milk, sugar and (新鲜) fruit. There are many different kinds of tastes, like strawberry and chocolate. Kids and adults all love this dessert. In (事实), this sweet treat came from ancient China. When Marco Polo brought binglao to Europe, it (变得) popular there.

Mum's tomato and egg is my family's favorite home dish. 

Every weekend, my mom goes to the market to buy  and eggs. She washes them and gets them ready . She puts warm love into every step of cooking, so she is  happy when she is cooking. Every time I enjoy the food, I feel so warm for  quiet love. 

Now I can cook this dish too,  mum's patient teaching and help. No food is as as home cooking. It brings back  the sweet memories of home.

I went mountain climbing with my father every summer holiday. I still clearly remember one tiring trip. I was not as1 as my dad. So I could never walk as fast as him. Soon I2 . Slowly, I felt unhappy and wanted to give up halfway.

Born in 1916, Dahl lived a hard life when he was young. He went to strict boarding（寄宿）schools and met some unkind adults. Dahl got lots of writing ideas from these hard times. He started writing children's books when he had his first child. He loved telling his children bedtime stories, and then he turned those stories into books. He was good at writing stories because he could see the world through children's eyes. He said, "If you want to know children better, you have to get down your body. You'll find you have to look up at all the adults around you. They always tell you what you can do and what you cannot do. "

Mr. Dahl thought it was important for children to read. "I love teaching kids to be readers, to be comfortable with a book, not afraid. Books shouldn't be scary. They should be interesting, exciting and wonderful. . . " he said. 

Dahl once said, "If you do not believe in magic, you will never find the magic. " Maybe that is why people love his work so much. His stories are full of magic, and we want to believe in magic. Mr. Dahl died in 1990, but his stories will live forever.

It was the school sports meeting. Li Ming ran in the 1500-meter race. He was a fast runner, and he was close to the finishing line. Just then, he saw Wang Hao, the boy in front of him, fall down hard. 

Wang Hao was Li Ming's biggest competitor. He always beat Li Ming in practice races. But Li Ming did not run past him. He stopped quickly, turned around, and helped Wang Hao stand up. "Are you OK?" he asked. Wang Hao's foot was hurt, and he could not walk well. Li Ming put Wang Hao's arm around his shoulder, and they walked slowly across the finishing line together. All the other runners finished the race before them. 

All the students were quiet first, then everyone cheered loudly. At the award meeting, Li Ming did not get a first place medal for the race. But the school gave him a special gold medal. It said: "True victory is not just winning. It is helping others. "

Li Ming held the medal happily. He knew he did not win the race. But he got something more important: feeling proud of doing the right thing.
