If you' re laughing during your English lesson, that's probably a good thing. Besides making a class more fun,humour(幽默) can be a good language learning tool.

First, there are good reasons to keep stress levels low in the language classroom. People usually learn a language and use it much more easily when they are relaxed—— and what reduces stress more greatly than laughter? And in a class, sharing a joke can help students and teachers build a friendly atmosphere (氛围) that encourages confidence.

Humour can be a test of your language skills, too. Understanding jokes requires not just some basic knowledge of words and sentences—— you need to know why they' re funny! For example," Why was six afraid of seven? Because seven ate (eight) nine!" A lot of jokes are based on wordplay (双关语), so the listener may need to know more than one meaning of a word to understand the jokes.

It's no surprise that both students and teachers expect some humour in language lessons. But what kinds of jokes are the most popular? One study asked nearly 250 foreign language learners what they thought. The researchers found that students really liked it when teachers made funny comments during lessons. Students also liked funny cartoons and memes.

Acting in front of many people can be 1 . But at my school, the English drama course helps me feel braver.

Every student 2 the course twice a week. Our foreign teacher, Mr. Dean, once said,"Many students are good at studying but are shy to 3 themselves. We hope drama can help students learn English and be more creative."

Jinhua is a wonderful city. 

Perler beads（拼豆）are small colorful plastic beads. Making Perler beads is as interesting  drawing. It is one of the most popular activities and brings fun to students around  world. 

To make a Perler bead project, you need four things: tweezers, beads, a pegboard （拼豆板）and an iron. First,  (put) the beads on the pegboard to make our favorite pictures. Each small bead carries a little joy as you place them carefully one by one. You can make cute animals, cartoon characters, colorful  (flower) or even your name.

Zhou Bolun: Thank you so much! The  （令人兴奋的）penalty shootout was very stressful for all of us. We have won many big  （胜利）this season, but this one will stay in my heart forever. 

Many people are  （好奇的）about how I stayed so calm when facing the powerful team in the final. When I felt really nervous, I always told  （我自己）to take deep breaths and believe in my practice.  /nʌn/ of my teammates gave up even when we were behind for almost the who lematch. You can't  （想象）how loud the cheers were when I stopped the last penalty. 

Here I would like to thank my coach. He often  （注意到）small details in my daily practice and gives me useful advice. He always says football is a  （桥梁）that connects people from different cities. Winning is great, but our team  （精神）of never giving up is the greatest award. 

2026Wuyue Cup Champion

Great News! Our Jinhua football team won the 2026 Wuyue Cup final. They beat Wenzhou 6:5 in the penalty shootout（点球大战）. Zhou Bolun, the goalkeeper（守门员） from Jinhua, let in  goals than the one from Wenzhou and made many wonderful saves. 

This is one of the greatest  in Jinhua football history. Thousands of fans  to go to the stadium to watch the match. The lights shone  and the whole stadium was full of cheers. The team has many excellent players,  Zheng Zelong and Ying Haoxuan. They will  busy playing hard for the coming national competition. Jinhua radio station will interview Zhou Bolun this Wednesday. Don't miss it!

There is an art competition in Maplewood every year. Artists from the whole town come to show their works. This year, Leo and Elle also decided to 1 them. They were best friends and they shared a love for2 .

Zhang Xue is a great Chinese man with a lifelong racing dream. He spends many years helping Chinese motorcycles win important world races. This March, his company ZXMOTO made a wonderful history at a world motorcycle competition (比赛) in Portugal. It became the first Chinese motorcycle maker to win the top awards in such an important world competition. What a great achievement (成就)!

Zhang was born in a small village in Hunan. At 14, he started learning to fix motorcycles in a small shop. Working with engines (发动机) every day helped him learn lots of useful skills. Little by little, his childhood dream of racing grew stronger. When he was 19 in 2006, he rode over 100km in the rain to show his riding skill on TV. Unluckily, he didn't make it at first, but he never lost heart or gave up his dream. Soon he got a chance to join a racing team and won many awards in China. 

As years went by, long-time hard training hurt his body seriously. He was in poor health, which made it impossible for him to continue racing. But he still wanted to go for his dream. So he made a big decision: he would turn to making motorcycles by himself. From 2009 to 2012, he learned all steps of motorbike-making in Zhejiang. Then he started his own factory in Chongqing. In 2024, he built ZXMOTO and worked hard to make China's own motorcycle engines. 

Finally, his company's self-developed motorbike won two races in Portugal. With years of hard work, Zhang turned his dream into amazing national pride. 

Deep in the Amazon rainforest is a great natural wonder— the Boiling River（沸腾河）. Local people call it Shanay-timpishka. It means"hot from the sun". For hundreds of years, people around the world have been interested in this unusual river. 

The river is about 9 kilometres long. Most of its water is between 45℃ and 100°    C. The nearest volcano（火山）is 700 kilometres away, but the water stays hot all year. Steam（蒸汽）rises all the time, so the rainforest looks amazing and strange. 

The river is an important place for local people. They use its hot water to cook, clean and keep healthy. But it is very dangerous. Small animals will die soon if they fall into the hot water. 

People once thought the river was only a story. In 2011, scientist Andres Ruz o discovered it was real. The heat（热量）does not come from volcanoes. Rainwater goes down deep into the ground. It gets hot underground and comes back up through small holes. This makes the Boiling River. 

Now scientists study plants and animals here. They learn how living things live in high heat. This helps us understand life in hot places and may lead to new medicines. The river also shows scientists about the whole world getting warmer in rainforests. By studying how nature lives through heat, we can better protect our Earth. That is why the Boiling River is not just a wonder— it is a living classroom for all of us. 

Linda often visited her grandmother, who lived in a small and old house. The house had no big TV or expensive furniture（家具）, but it was always full of laughter（笑声）. 

One day, Linda asked, "Grandma, why are you always so happy? You don't have many nice things. "

My growth story: from pains to gains

I used to hate running. I found it very tiring  (run) around the sports field and I was always one of the last students crossing the finish line. One day, my friend asked me  I would run with him and I refused him. And then he said, "Why not have a try? Maybe you will like it. "

During the weekend I thought about his suggestion carefully. In the end, I decided to join  (he). He was glad to know that. He told me to look for a running program on the Internet to help me learn  to run. 

After searching for a long time, I chose  14-week running program. I would take part in a match when I finished the program. I had to run three times a week. At first, I ran for short periods of time and had long breaks. Then as the weeks  (go) on, I was able to run for longer periods of time and the breaks got  (short). Now I can run for more than 30 minutes each time! I went from hating running to loving it. 

On the day of the match, I was both excited and nervous. Finally, it was time to put my new skills into practice. Luckily, I  (support) by my friends and family and it was lovely to have them there.  their support and my training, I managed to finish the 10000-meter run in 72 minutes. I was very proud of that. 

From this experience I learned  was a good idea to try something before saying I hated it! Because it turned out that I really enjoyed running.

Now I understand the best （解决方法）to my problem is not hiding, but taking action. By helping others, I found my confidence and discovered my future career interest in teaching.
