The giraffe is the tallest animal on land. Their interesting shapes attract (thousand) of people to visit them. They have long necks and long thin legs. Their front legs are longer than their back legs. Some giraffes can be more than five metres tall. They can run very fast — about 30 miles hour. They are usually brown and yellow.

    Giraffes liveAfrica. They can live up to 27 years in the wild. They spend most of the day (eat). The leaves, flowers and fruit are their main food, and they also eat grass or other plants. To find food, they travel over a large area they don't have a fixed (固定的) home.

However, when a mother giraffe gives birth to babies, it often (return) to its birthplace. It only gives birth to one baby every time, and the baby giraffe is cute and can be 

1.8 metres tall. About 10 minutes after being born, the baby giraffe learns(stand). Then it begins drinking milk from its mother. A few hours later, it can run as(quick) as those animals who have been born for weeks. How (amaze)! The baby giraffe only stays with its mother after it is born in the (one) two weeks. When it is strong enough, it will leave its mother and start a new life.

The Qingming Festival, or Tomb Sweeping Day, falls on April 4th or 5th every year. It is  only statutory（法定的）holiday of the traditional 24 solar terms.

The Qingming Observance (date）back to more than 2500 years ago, when there was also the Cold Food Festival  the Shangsi Festival as well. Later, the three festivals combined together and developed into today's Tomb Sweeping Day. It is a time for Chinese people to clean the graves for the departed relatives as well as remind (they）not to forget about the family bonds.

Today, people often use the 3-day holiday (get）together with family members. As the weather turns a little (warm), people also take the chance to go on a spring outing. Look! Children (fly）kites, symbolizing wishes sent skyward. The festival and the spring outing quite pair up (nice）together.

In modern cities, eco-friendly youths are also using virtual（虚拟的）tomb-sweeping to reduce (pollute). The festival's importance lies in balancing respect for the past with joy in the present. It's much like the rebirth of everything in spring  winter. Through these three days, people are honoring traditions while celebrating life's beauty.

At construction sites in Wangqing county, Jilin province, people often see a woman in a safety helmet. She closely follows the builders and records detailed information. The woman's name is Yu Mingji. Being a documenter with a construction company, this former housewife has become a technical expert, earning herself a National May I Labor Medal for her hard work and a strong sense of responsibility.

The 50-year-old says she has a strong love for building, and that's why she studied industrial and civil architecture at Jilin Jianzhu University in Changchun, in 1993. "I really enjoy the feeling of watching a design become a real building," says Yu.

In 2004, after giving birth to a son, Yu was employed by a construction company to be their documenter. In summer, when builders start work at 4 or 5 a.m., she starts as well. In the daytime, she follows them, recording their work. At night, she organizes the data and fill in the forms. In fact, she is able to complete much of her work without having to visit the site every day, but she goes anyway. Because of her carefulness it often takes her longer to complete a project and so she earns less than other documenters. Yu has been involved in the construction of nearly 100 buildings, none of which were regarded unsafe in later checks. Instead, many have won her prizes.

Yu's decades-long work has not worn down her passion, but has enriched her with confidence. "I'm already 50, but I feel like I'm still young, with endless strength for work. I even feel better than when I was young." Yu indeed lives her life to the fullest!

The plains-wander is a small bird that lives in Australia's grasslands. The little birds spend most of their time on the ground, so they are picky about where they live. There can't be too much grass or too little. The birds were once common in eastern Australia. As grasslands have been turned into farms and cities, the birds' numbers have fallen by over 85% in recent years.

Another thing that makes the birds unusual is that the females are larger and more colorful, and are in charge of protecting the lands. The male birds are smaller and take care of the eggs.

To protect these rare birds, scientists first had to learn where they were. Since plains-wanderers are hard to spot, scientists chose to"listen"for the birds. Female plains-wanderers make an unusual"Ooom"call, and this was the key to finding them out. The researchers set up 35 special recording devices called"song meters"in nine different grassy areas. Song meters record all the sounds made in an area over a long period of time. Eventually, the song meters collected tens of thousands of hours of recordings, which were all analyzed by an AI system.

The result shows plains-wanderer calls come from two of the sites. The scientists double-checked and found that the AI system was correct. It was like"finding gold".

The new information will help scientists protect the birds. Scientists also plan to work with the land owners to help protect the birds, and the grasslands they depend on.

The little girl was 8 years old and living with grandma in the countryside, her native place. Recently, her parents brought her to 1 to live with them.
