China is one of the largest potato producers in the world. Potatoes, as well as wheat, rice and corn, are among the most important crops in China. However, potatoes have much water inside. If correct ways can't be found to keep them, they will go bad easily. It leads to tons of waste. Potato rice technology can help keep potatoes longer and reduce waste.

There are many advantages for potato rice. First, it keeps 90% of potato nutrition（营养）and has 27% more protein（蛋白质）than normal rice. Second, it hardly raises blood sugar. Speaking of buying rice, it is usually the first choice for the people who want to control their blood sugar. What's more, it's easy to cook because there is no need to wash it. When people cook it, they can use less water. Potato rice cooks faster than normal rice.

However, every coin has two sides. Although potato rice has entered the market, it still has a long way to go. Potato rice is much more expensive than normal rice because the factory needs 2.5 tons of potatoes to produce 1 ton of potato rice. It costs 33 yuan every kilo, but normal rice costs only 4-6 yuan every kilo.

Experts say that future research will pay more attention to reducing the costs and making the taste better.

In May 2025, a special apartment building in Chengdu became famous online. This 32-floor building is covered with pink and purple bougainvillea (三角梅) from top to bottom. People call it"Flower Tower"and come from all over the city to take photos.

The story started in 2013 when the building was new. The builder planted bougainvillea on the public balcony (阳台) of each floor. Now, 240 families take care of these plants together. They water them,trim them, and even talk to them! Over ten years, the plants have grown bigger and bigger.
