A Sharing Meeting
Dear club members,
Recently, "Love you, good old self" has become popular on social media. It is not about being selfish or showing off. Instead, it means caring for and understanding yourself in a world full of pressure. For young people, self-love builds strength to face uncertain and hard times. Loving yourself is not a weakness, it's a quiet power that helps you grow and move forward with confidence.
Experts have suggested some simple ways to practise self-love:
Take time for yourself. It's okay to rest or spend time alone. This helps you feel better and gives you more energy.
Use positive words. Talk to yourself as kindly as you talk to your best friend. Instead of saying "It's too difficult," say "It's a challenge, but I can do it."
Treat yourself well. After you finish a difficult math test, you can enjoy an ice cream. After helping your parents with housework all morning, you can take a relaxing bath.
Do activities you enjoy. Take yourself on a fun outing, such as going to the movies or out to eat.
Our club has surveyed 350 students: "Which is your favourite way to practise self-love?" Here are the results:
Which way to practise self-love do you like best? For the next club meeting, we would like you to share your ideas or stories about self-love. Please get ready! See you next Saturday morning!

A rich young man worked in a big building in the city. Every day, he rode the elevator with a poor old man who operated it. He was always busy talking on his phone. For years, the young man never said much to the old man—he told which floor he wanted.
These two men shared the small daily, but they never really talked.
One day, the elevator suddenly stopped between. The two men were stuck inside for hours. At first, it was. Then the old man spoke. "For years," he said, "I have listened to you as you ride this elevator. All you ever talk about is money. You remind me a bee." The young man looked confused, but the old man went on. "If you put a bee in a tall drinking glass, it will not fly out it never looks up. It keeps to run away through the sides and dies when freedom is right above it. My advice? Don't be that bee. Look up sometimes and see the sky."
The young man listened to him carefully. For the first time, talked for hours about life, work and happiness. Finally, the elevator was near the end of the day. The old man asked he still wanted to go to the top floor. "No," he replied, "you just showed me a whole new way to see the world—right here in this elevator."

If you've recently moved to a new town, you probably don't know who is living close to your home. People no longer bring food to welcome new neighbors as they did before. However, developing relationships with neighbors can be quite useful, especially if you have kids. It's always nice to have more caring eyes watching out for you and your loved ones.
Bring sweets with you on your first visit.
Take over a plate of cookies or cupcakes when you first visit your neighbors. This will show your new neighbors that you are both friendly and thoughtful.
If your neighbors are in need, let them know you care and ask what you can do to help. You can offer to help them clean their yards, take out their rubbish, or bring them their newspapers.
Be someone of your word.
If you make a promise, go through with it. If you borrow something, return it in good condition, just as it was before. It is the key to developing a lasting relationship.
Be a party animal.
If your neighbors have street parties during the year, attend them. The more people you meet, the more connections you will make.
Share tools with others.
This saves money, as it will prevent everyone from buying the same tool to get the job done.
A. Build trust with your neighbors.
B. Lend a helping hand to your neighbors.
C. You can set up a tool-sharing group for your neighbors.

5、Have you ever tried to share a cake with others? It sounds easy, but how can you make sure everyone feel pleased with their piece? This is not only a food question—it is also an interesting math problem!
For two people, a classic rule works well: "I cut, you choose." One cuts the cake into two pieces. The other person picks first. The cutter will try to make it fair, so both feel satisfied. However, it is more difficult for three people. In the 1940s, mathematician Hugo Steinhaus introduced the "lone-divider" method. First, Amy cuts the cake into three pieces that she values equally (均等地). Then Ben and Charlie check the pieces. If they both accept different pieces, they each take one, and Amy gets the last one. So everyone gets a piece that they believe is fair.
Later, in the 1960s, John Conway and John Selfridge developed another method. A piece of cake is passed from one person to another. Anyone who thinks it is too big may cut a part off. Any pieces cut off are put back with the main cake. The last person to trim it gets that piece and leaves. Then the same process continues with the rest of the cake and the remaining people. This method also aims at fairness.
In 2014, researchers created Spliddit, a website that uses these math rules to help people divide things fairly. As mathematician Biaoshuai Tao said, "There's a lot to be done." Cake-cutting shows us that even simple daily problems can lead to deep and useful math.
