There are four seasons in a year. It is difficult for me  (choose) a favorite season because they are all special to me. 

Spring is a good season  it is not too cold or too hot. If you take a walk in a park, you'll see plants beginning to flourish (苗壮成长). Birds start to sing early in the morning. People often say, "A year's plan  (start) with spring". In such a lovely season, every day is  (hope) for me. 

 Summer is great because children can have  long time to relax. The summer holiday is in this season. Children can do many  (interest) outdoor activities. Relaxing in the pool and  (enjoy) ice cream are my favorite activities. 

Autumn is also a wonderful season because of colorful leaves.  you have a walk with your friends in a park, you can see many beautiful leaves (fall) from trees. 

Winter is a nice season because everything is covered with snow and looks so beautiful. You can have fun making snowmen in winter. 

Now you know why I can't choose just one of the seasons as my favorite. Each of them is special one way or another. I love them all. I'm just glad I get to enjoy every single one of them.

In China, there are 24 solar terms in a year. And there are six solar terms in winter. They are beginning of winter, light snow, heavy snow, winter solstice (冬至), lesser cold (小寒) and greater cold.

Beginning of winter usually falls on November 7th or 8th. On this day, after a year of hard work, people are happy to have a rest and spend time with the family. The northern China celebrates beginning of winter as the "Small Spring Festival". People usually have dumplings and mutton soup on that day.

Light snow usually falls on November 22nd or 23rd and heavy snow usually falls on December 7th or 8th. When winter solstice comes, it brings the shortest days of the year and the longest nights. Many places around the country can expect the coldest weather.

Greater cold comes after lesser cold. The field is covered with snow. And all Chinese are ready to welcome the Spring Festival after it. Of course, a new round of solar terms will start.

Do you go to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (青藏高原)? The weather there changes (变化) a lot in summer. You can experience"four seasons" in just one day. What is it like? Let's take a look.

"Spring" morning

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is very high. In the early morning, it's cool. After the sun comes out, it gets warm, like in spring. It's a good time to take a walk.

"Summer" noon

At noon, it's sunny and hot. You may feel like it's summer. The sunlight is strong and you need to wear a pair of sunglasses. Sometimes, it rains, but the rain doesn't last long.

"Autumn" afternoon

In the afternoon, the temperature goes down quickly. It's cool, just like in autumn. People have to put on warm clothes.

"Winter" night

Late at night, it gets cold, like in winter. People usually sleep with a thick quilt (厚被子). The rainy season is from June to September each year. It often rains at night.

Humid air troubles

Have you ever experienced hui nan tian, or ongoing humid (潮湿的) weather? 

Hui nan tian is a special kind of weather in Southeast China in spring, when it becomes warmer and warmer. Before it comes, there usually has been a few cold days, with a temperature below 12 ℃. After the cold air goes away, warmer air quickly comes and gets cooler, creating a lot of water vapor (水蒸气). So you can see small water drops on windows and walls. 

Ongoing humid weather makes it easy for bacteria (细菌) to grow. Food goes bad easily, clothes stay wet, and sofas can get moldy (发霉的). Electrical devices (电器设备) may break down when they get wet inside. It's dangerous because you may get an electric shock (电击) when turning them on. 

Wet weather also makes people feel tired and even sick. Catching a cold is common during this time, as the temperature changes quickly.

Although the weather troubles people a lot, for nature, it can be helpful. Thanks to the humidity, plants can grow better with enough water and warmer air.

What to do on humid days

Make sure you close the door and windows, especially windows facing south. Morning and night are key times to stop wet air from getting into the room.

Put newspapers on the floor, on the table, and at the door to take in water and wet air.

Use an air conditioner (空调) to take away water from the air. Use a hair dryer (吹风机) or a dryer to dry your clothes and blankets (毯子).
