My Dream Job

Everybody has his own dream job. My dream is to be 

Everybody has his or her dream job. I also have my dream job. My dream is to work for foreign tourists as a tour guide. 

Why do I want to be a tour guide? First of all, I'm an outgoing girl, and I like doing something exciting. Maybe being a tour guide is the best choice. If I become a tour guide, I can travel all around China and know more about our country. Then I will tell the foreign tourists about our colorful history. Second, I like making friends. And I am able to make lots of friends. If I work as a tour guide, I can make more friends from all over the world. This may be great. Perhaps someday my foreign friends will ask me to visit their countries. I really like to go to their countries to know something about their cultures. The trip will be excellent. What's more, I like singing. Singing English songs is my favorite. I believe I will be popular with foreign tourists. 

Now I am still a middle school student. My job now is to work hard in school. Then I'll go to university to learn something about how to be a tour guide. I'm sure I can be a qualified tour guide when I grow up. 

One day, Tom went out to look for work. He went from place  place. However, he could not  a job. In the afternoon, he came to a factory. He went into the office building and opened the  of a big room. There he saw a fat man sitting at  desk. 

"What do you want?" the man asked. "I am looking for work," answered Tom. "Any kind of work?" the man asked. "Any kind of , please. I am strong, you see," Tom said. 

The man looked at Tom for a long time and then he said, "We have got enough workers. We want  more. Get out. " Tom turned around. When he was going to the door, the  man said, "OK, do you see the man over there?" He pointed to a man outside the window. "I give  five dollars a day. I will only give you four dollars a day. Do you want his job? He is getting old. Of course, I won't give you five dollars a day. I can only give you four dollars a day. " For a  time, Tom said nothing. He thought of his wife and children. But that worker had his wife and children, . Finally Tom said, "No, I won't want the job. " Tom was right. He didn't want to takethe bread out of another worker's mouth. 

An old people's home in Fukuoka, Japan is looking for new employees (雇员). There is one main requirement: they must be .

This year, science fiction lovers in China have reason to feel inspired by Chinese writer Hai Ya, whose book The Space-Time Painter won the Hugo Award (雨果奖) on Saturday, October 21. Besides, he is the third Chinese writer to win a Hugo award after Liu Cixin in 2015 and Hao Jingfang in 2016. 

Hai Ya has also impressed (给……留下深刻印象) the world with his work standard. It is reported that after the awards ceremony in Chengdu he flew back to Shenzhen next night. So he would not miss work on Monday morning. In fact, he works as a manager in a bank. 

Rather than being a full-time writer, Hai Ya treats writing as a part-time activity to be taken up whenever he is not doing his job. That encourages more young writers. Not everyone could be a "writer", but now more and more people are following their dreams to become writers. 

In fact, Liu Cixin, who won the Hugo Award for The Three-body Problem, is also a part-time writer, holding an engineering job. He encourages young people to keep their jobs and write if they have dreams. 

Their stories go to show that holding a job should not stop people from following their dreams of writing. If you want to write a story, you can get up early or sleep late to write about three hours every day. And having a job will actually provide you with enough material to write about, while the salary(工资) can make a living. Because not every writer makes enough money from writing. 

The key is to find the balance (平衡) between the eight hours' working time and three hours'writing time in the early morning or late at night. And remember—never give up. 

Mao Jiafeng, a middle-aged man from China, now is teaching Chinese at a school in the UAE (阿拉伯联合酋长国). "I decided to teach here not only because I studied Arabic (阿拉伯语), but also because I have many friends here. So I can spread Chinese culture," Mao said. 

After hard work, Mao slowly gets used to the local education and teaches Chinese to two grades. In class, he plays videos of Chinese food for kids, and shows some activities of traditional Chinese festivals. So the kid's understanding of China and their Chinese language skills can be improved. 

"Most kids here know China has a fantastic manufacturing industry (制造业) which receives high praise from the world, and many of them hope to go to China to do business," Mao said. 

To increase students' interest, Mao also tries explaining different kinds of Chinese kungfu and playing some related (相关的) movies for them. The result makes him surprised. Children are full of interest and often follow videos to practice kungfu. 

Mao plans to continue teaching in the UAE in the next five years. "Besides spreading Chinese culture, it is also my goal to help more children who want to learn Chinese better," Mao Jiafeng said.
