A Special Experience

Hello，I'm Li Ming. Today I want to share one of my special experiences with you. 

Do you think it is strange？ Have you ever had this kind of experience in your life？

Hello， I am Carla. I can still remember seeing the mysterious shadows (影子) when I was a little kid. They looked like large birds passing over my neighborhood！ Sometimes I did see hawks (鹰) flying around where I lived. But their shadows were not so large as the mysterious ones. The mysterious shadows were always very dark， so what was creating them couldn't fly too high. But I never saw them！

Once I was working in the yard when I saw a shadow coming down the street. But when I looked up， I only saw darkness for a second！ If it was just a plane， why wasn't there a loud noise？ If it was a kite， who was flying it？

I asked my mother about the mystery. She told me she had also seen the shadows. And she guessed they were thunderbirds (雷鸟)！ That's because it's said that this kind of bird is very large. But the thunderbird is just a special bird in American Indian culture. My mother even told me lots of times that before the shadows appeared， little animals would run away and hide.

The world of the out-of-doors is full of secrets.  they are so interesting that quite a lot of people are studying them. All around us are birds, animals, trees, and flowers. The facts about  they live and grow are as interesting as anything could be. Do you know that one of the greatest presidents of the United States  hours and hours studying birds many years ago? A businessman who lives near New York City became so interested in insects that he began to collect . Now more than one thousand different kinds are  in glass boxes. Let us go through the woods and fields . We shall follow a mother bear and her babies to  for food and get ready for winter sleep. 

We shall watch bees dance in the  to let other bees know where they can find food. I will show you many other interesting things, but the best thing that I can teach you is to keep your eyes and ears widely  when you go out of doors. Nature tells her  to only the people who look and listen seriously.

Reports of UFO sightings have existed for decades and always arouse people's interest. Last month, a hiker named Tom had an amazing experience in the mountain. It was a clear night. Tom was setting up his tent when he noticed a bright light in the sky. At first, he thought it was a plane, but it moved up and down in a strange way that no plane could do.

The object was round and had blue lights around it. It hovered in the air for a few minutes and made a low buzzing sound. Tom took out his phone to take photos, but his phone suddenly shut down. When he looked up again, the object flew away at a surprising speed and disappeared in the dark sky.

Experts say most UFO sightings turn out to be natural phenomena or man - made objects like weather balloons. But Tom insists what he saw was not a common thing, and his experience has added another story to the endless UFO mysteries.

The Chihuahuan Desert in West Texas is larger than any other desert in North America. The winters there are cool and summers are very hot. This area is also home to a mysterious phenomenon (现象) called the Marfa Lights. 

The Marfa Lights are bright lights that appear in the night sky all of a sudden and then fly to faraway places and disappear. They are about the size of basketballs and are often described as white, blue, yellow, red, or other colors. The lights sometimes even get close to people's houses. One woman who lived on a farm told the story of what she experienced one night. She was in bed and suddenly she saw the lights shining through her bedroom window. She watched them change color for a few minutes. Finally, they went away. Pilots who used to train in the desert in the 1940s also reported that they once saw these mysterious lights. 

What causes this phenomenon? People have different opinions on this. A popular interpretation is the lights might have something to do with headlights from cars on the road nearby. Scientific research also suggests that some of the lights are caused by the refraction (折射) of light between layers (层) of air that have different temperatures. However, not all of them can be explained so easily. 

Anyway, people will continue to study the lights to find out where they come from. No matter what these lights really are, they are as mysterious today as when they first appeared. But it is certain that the mystery behind them will be solved one day.

Music

Music is very important in our lives. 

Hello, I'm David Smith. Now I'd like to share with you the story of how music has had a strong influence on my life. 

Have you ever faced a time when things looked dark and you had no hope at all? Two years ago, my body ached all the time. So I went to the doctor. I was told I had a serious illness which was difficult to cure (治愈). And I thought I didn't have much longer to live. I was very afraid and I felt so lonely and discouraged. 

Then one day, I had to go through a two-hour medical treatment. The doctor wanted me to relax, so she played some music for me, and one of the songs was Happy, which has been my favorite song till now. This positive (积极的) and uplifting song gave me energy and helped me go through the darkness. From then on, I began to listen to music all the time. John A. Logan once said, "Music is the medicine of the mind." And it's true. Music worked wonders for me. It helped me get well and come back to life. 

Of course, I hope none of you have to experience the same kind of suffering (痛苦) that I did. However, we all go through some periods when we feel sad or lonely. During those times, music can help you in the same way that it helped me. I hope all of you will value music and make it a part of your lives.

Can you think of a day without music? We can  music everywhere, in the streets and at home, over the radio and on TV, in the shops and in the parks. People all over the world love music. They listen to music, dance to music, and learn to play musical .

My favorite style of music is pop music because it is full of energy. When I listen to pop music, it makes me remember happy times and  my sadness. It helps me to relax when I'm tired, and entertains (娱乐) me when I'd like to have fun. I don't mind listening to dance music, especially when I go to disco clubs. This style makes me more energetic (精力充沛的).

The music I hate is heavy metal because I find it . When I listen to this style of music, it presents pictures of dark days to my mind. some young people are fond of this style of music, it is not to everyone's taste. 

My mother and father support my tastes in music. They to listen to classical and ballet music, but they think that, on the whole, modern music is not too bad. My parents agree that each person has his or her own taste.
