The art of paper-cutting appeared around 2, 000 years ago. A young man wrote down the character (汉字) "Fu", and his wife tore it out. And it became the predecessor (前身) of paper-cutting. In the Southern and Northern Dynasties, paper-cutting started. Since then, people have used paper-cuts to decorate windows in China during the Spring Festival, usually in January or February.
There were many different styles of paper-cutting long ago. The earliest (最早的) type of paper-cutting is Tuanhua from the 1st century. Then there were symmetrical (对称的) horses and monkeys.
