Sugar painting, also called "Tanghua" is a lovely Chinese folk art with (much) than one thousand years of history. It started in Sichuan in the Ming Dynasty.

You can see sugar painting stalls (摊) at market fairs or in parks. It not only brings people the enjoyment of beauty but also (give) artists chances to show their talents. People think (watch) a sugar painter at work is like seeing magic, as each piece is full of creativity.

Do you know to make a sugar painting? Firstly, heat the sugar gently it turns into thick liquid (液体) . Next, the sugar artist uses a spoon (pour) the melted (熔化的) sugar onto a board and starts creating. By moving the spoon (careful), all kinds of shapes like cute animals, beautiful flowers and even famous (character) from stories can be made. Once the shape is ready, the artist uses a small knife to pick the sugar painting and inserts (嵌入) a bamboo stick into it. After the sugar cools down, you can get a nice sugar painting.

Sugar painting is not only nice to look at but also tastes good. People, especially kids, like    (it) bright color and sweet taste. So have a taste by yourself next time you see a sugar painting stall.

Plants are amazing! They play an important in our life. Not only do they make our eyes feel good, but they also give us fruits and to eat. Scientists have found that plants can harmful chemicals (化学) from the air, making it safe for us to breathe. They are helpful to against bad weather. They can also add moisture (水分) to the air if it's too dry. They help keep our indoor environments cleaner and, making us feel better. Next time you see a plant, remember all the amazing things it does for us!

In the study, two groups of people were asked to check circuit boards (电路板) for mistakes. The first group was told a robot named Panda had already checked the boards. They could see and hear Panda when they worked. The second group had to check alone.

At first, it seemed like Panda's presence didn't make a difference. Both groups spent the same time checking the boards and found a similar number of mistakes. However, the first group found fewer mistakes later on. This could mean that they depended (依赖) too much on the robot and didn't pay as much attention. They believed that Panda wouldn't miss any mistakes.

_________ In the study, people found out fewer mistakes when working with the robot. So in longer work periods, especially when tasks are boring and there in much super vision (监管), workers are probably unable to stay focused. This could be dangerous, especially in jobs where double-checking is important for safety.

To understand the problem better, the scientists suggested doing studies in real work places with skilled workers who often work with robots. This would give us a clearer picture of how attention changes while working with robots.

Many people love animals, but only a few really work hard to care for and protect them. British zoologist Jane Goodall is such an example.

Born in 1934, Goodall had a natural love for animals as a child. At 10, she read Tarzan of the ages (《人猿泰山》) for the first time while up in a tree. This made her fall in love with the wonderful land of Africa, dreaming of studying the chimpanzee (黑猩猩) there.

At 26, Goodall finally made it to Tanzania and walked into the little-known world of wild chimpanzee. At first, Goodall got sick from the weather and bug bates there. Also, the chimps didn't trust her and were very wary, trying to keep away from this stranger. Still she tried to get over these problems. She watched them quietly and patiently from far away. After months of long and hard work, the chimps got used to her being around.

Later, Goodall found something that surprised the world — chimps make and use tools (工具)! Before this, people thought only humans could do such things. Goodall also found that chimps have their own social relationships. For example, they may decide leaders and followers, just like humans. Moreover, some chimps were shy and some were outgoing. Sometimes, Goodall even saw chimps fighting with each other.

Besides studying chimps, she also started a group called the Jane Goodall Institute to protect (保护) them. The group does many things like protecting forests, stopping hunting, and teaching local people how to care for chimps.

Today, the 90-year-old woman still travels around the world, speaking about the dangers chimpanzee are facing and other environmental problems.

The art teacher Mrs Mo ore was leaving soon for her country. "Why not1 a hand-drawn picture book about our school for her as a gift?" Peter thought.

One day, Peter was drawing while his little sister Becky was watching with great2. Just then, his friend Jeff came to visit him. "Hi, Peter! Do you3 playing football in the yard?" Jeff asked.
