The Shenzhong Link officially  (open)at 3 p. m. on June the 30th. A nonstop (直达的)bus carrying more than 20 passengers was the  (one)vehicle to pass the Cuiheng East Tollgate(关卡)for a journey from Zhongshan to HongKong. Li Lixin, the bus driver, had been waiting at the tollgate since 10 a. m.

Before link's opening, it took Zhongshan residents more than three hours to travel to HongKong. Now. the link, the trip will take less than two hours. 

To dye(染色)clothes by machines is very common now.  This skill is called tie-dye(扎染). It is said that tie-dyed clothes appeared in the Qun Dynasty. During the Tang Dynasty, tie-dyed clothes became very popular. 

Yang Cheng, a 52-year-old man, was well-known for his tie-dye skills. He started learning tie-dye in the 1980s. Later, he went to other countries to learn different ways of tie- dye, such as Japan, India and France. He has been studying tie-dye for 35 years and he wants more people to know it.  More than 100, 000 people have learned from him. 

Tie-dye is one of Chinese intangible cultural heritages(非物质文化遗产). It has become very popular among people.  Liu Mei is a teacher at a kindergarten. She teaches kids to dye scarves. Then they put the scarf into the dye. After they finish, there are some amazing pictures on it. 

Your friend comes over to talk to you after lunch-but when he opens bis mouth, a stinky (臭的)smell hits your nose. Ugh!He must have eaten garlic(大蒜)during lunch. 

People who love garlic find it tasty. But the delicious taste comes with garlic breath, It stays in your mouth for hours. Why does garlic give people such stinky breath?

Most bad breath comes from small bits of food that get stuck(卡住)between your teeth. But garlic breath is different. It doesn't start until the garlic hits your stomach, according to Sheryl Barringer, a food science professor at Ohio State University, US. 

Garlic breaks down into small particles(微粒)in your stomach. One of these particles is ally l methyl sulfide (AMS, 烯丙基甲基硫醚). It is so small that it can move through your stomach to blood. Your blood then moves it to your lungs(肺). 

There, it mixes with oxygen and carbon dioxide. When you breathe out, AMS comes out together with carbon dioxide. This causes garlic breath. 

This can last up to 24 hours. That can be a nightmare(噩梦)for the people around you. Luckily, there are a few foods that can help. Eating apples, lettuce(生菜)or peppermint(薄 荷)greatly make garlic breath less, Barringer told Live Science. That's because these foods react(反应)with AMS. They make AMS particles big enough so that they cannot go into your blood and lungs. 

Young star shines

Over the years, skilled Chinese players have been doing very well in table tennis. Now, young athletes from Generation Z are becoming the stars of the 2024 Paris Olympics. 

Born in2000, Sun Yingsha has been given the nickname "Little Devil" by her fans. When she was little, Sun was sensitive to the sound of a table tennis ball hitting the ground. "I felt I had some talent, "she told China Daily. 

When Sun first joined the reserve squad(预备队)of the national table tennis team, she was excited. Becoming a world top player like her idol Zhang Yining has always been her dream. 

However, there have been challenges along the way. She took part in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and it was there that she faced huge losses. "I was not well-roundedenough to win the gold medal in the women's singles, "Sun said

At the 2023 Singapore Smash, Sun won the women's singles, the women's doubles and the mixed doubles, becoming the first athlete to get three gold medals at the tournament(锦标赛). Looking at the world ranking website, you can see Sun's name at the top of the women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. 

When talking about younger table tennis players, Sun encourages them to keep their love and stay focused. "If you truly love table tennis, I hope you can hold on to it, "she said.

Here are some words of wisdom as you make your way in the world, from your mama. I want you to understand that the dream itself comes from hard work, good luck and good timing. 

1. Be open-minded to changing your path (even several times)along the way. 

In high school, I wanted to be an official. I left my hometown and went off to college in Washington, DC. There, I discovered that I'm creative, a strong leader and great at marketing. As a result, I moved on to be the head of a national organization. Becoming a mother while in that job opened my mind to starting a business. Now I run a successful company that I started up all by myself. 

Work out what you are good at and what you are interested in. Keep an open mind and change what you are doing based on what you are learning about yourself. 

2. Failure is critical to your success

I won't tell you to feel good about failure. Failure can be heartbreaking. But I will tell you that every failure I've had along the way has made me better. 

Failing the big math exam in high school and going to summer school was embarrassing. I finally passed, and I've never failed an exam again. I learned from that experience to ask for help. Now, I ask for help in business all the time. 

I'm proud to be a role model to you as a mom and a company owner, I hope I can help you to believe that you can be anything you want and you can have everything on your list. It will be very glad to watch your lives unfold(展开)before my eyes.

Cleaning your desk, watering your plants, and tidying clothes are not always fun tasks. But I often find myself 1 them. When I'm having trouble with writing something and a deadline is coming up, Ill clean up the papers around my office. Sometimes, that's when I feel the most 2 during the day.

The new school year is coming. Who will be your new classmates? Will you sit alone or in pairs? In fact, there are many different classroom seating arrangements (排列). Let's take a look at some of them. 

Traditional Seating

Students sit alone in rows. This seating arrangement helps students listen to the teacher carefully. But it is not convenient for students to have discussions in class. 

Paired Seating

Two desks are put together. Students sit side by side. Sitting in pairs allows students to discuss and cooperate with their deskmates (同桌). However, some students can't focus on their lessons because they may chat with their deskmates. 

Group Seating

Students sit in small groups, facing each other. This arrangement is great for either large classes or small classrooms. It is good for group discussions and cooperation. But there is a problem. When students are doing group work, some of them may sit back and leave others to find a way out. 

U-Shape Seating

Desks are placed in a U-shape. This kind of seating creates an open space in the middle. The teacher has enough space to move around. However, it takes up more classroom space. 

Every coin has two sides. Every seating arrangement has its own advantages and disadvantages. 

My uncle Jason is a fireman. Today I visited him at the fire station. It was a nice day full new things to see and learn!

The fire station looks like a house. The most exciting part is the garage (车库). There are number of fire trucks in it, ready for calls. The garage is also a place for firemen to exercise. They must stay strong  (save) people. For the safety of firemen, special masks (面罩), coats and helmets (头盔) are always necessary. But having them on is like wearing a winter coat in summer, both heavy  hot!

When Uncle Jason showed me his bedroom, an emergency call  (sudden) came in—a fire in a house! He and some other firemen rushed out as soon as possible. When they  (return), Uncle Jason told me they saved a family's pet and put out the fire.
