The Wildlife Park has lots of different animals and birds. Some are native (当地的) to Australia and can only be found there. There are over 600 animals there, including kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles (鳄鱼). They are kept in their natural environment. I like the Wildlife Park better than a zoo where most of the animals are in cages (笼子).
We first spent some time with the kangaroos. We were allowed to touch and feed them. It was very exciting to be so close to them. There were koalas there too. They looked very cuddly (令人想拥抱的). Although we were not allowed to carry them, I got to take a photo with one. It is a wonderful souvenir (纪念品) of my holiday in Sydney.
The Wildlife Park has plenty of freshwater and saltwater crocodiles. Some of them are really big and scary (吓人的) with huge teeth! I did not want to get too close to them.
There was also a bird show. The keepers showed us different species (种类) they had. I saw an old parrot which could "talk". It made a great impression (印象) on me.

Have you ever heard of volunteer travel? Durıng the trip, volunteer travelers often provide services (服务) like teaching, cooking, animal caring, and cultural activities. In exchange for their help, they get meals, classes or something else for free or at a lower price.
You may think this kind of journey can only be possible in these years by modern transport. But in fact, volunteer travel dates back to 1958. At that time, Alec Dickson and his wife Mora from the UK started Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO)—an organization (机构) providing volunteer work all over the world.
In the past, volunteer travel usually took place in foreign countries. However, more people have taken part in volunteer trips in their own countries in recent years. According to (根据) Sanlian Lifeweek magazine, volunteer trips to the countryside are attractive to people living in the city. They hope to take a rest from the fast and busy city life by doing some volunteer work in villages.
Volunteer travel helps city people get a taste of village life. Many people are bored with the busy life in the city. They often say to themselves, "Do I need to move to the countryside for a quiet life?" Volunteer travel may help them find out the answer. What's more, volunteer travel helps local people improve their lives. When more tourists visit the villages, they can get more jobs and make more money.
Volunteer travel can not only show kindness to people in need, but also help people get different life experiences (经历). Why not have a try next time?
