Mr. Smith likes all kinds of delicious food. As an important officer, he is often asked to dinner. The shopkeepers try their best to fawn on (巴结) him. They know it is good for their business (生意). Now Mr. Smith is getting fatter and fatter. He can hardly go upstairs at home and has to sleep downstairs. He often feels tired if he walks or does some housework. He is very worried, so he has to go to see a doctor.

"Could you tell me a way to lose weight, please?"

"You must do exercise first."

"Which exercise?"

"To move your head from one side to the other side when you're asked to have dinner out!"

Luo Minqin hasn't run a marathon for many years, but her story is still known by many runners. Luo was one of the first women to take part in marathon races in China. She joined in Tianjin Marathon in 1981, and to everyone's surprise, she was the first woman runner to reach the finish line at the age of 25 that year.

For the first 20 km, she ran with a group of man runners, feeling proud and confident. However, after 30 km, her body had a terrible reaction (反应). She vomited (呕吐) a lot and she felt as if her legs were full of lead (铅). Her strong will (意志力) and the cheers from the people along the road made her cross the finish line.

With a time of 4:26.34, she was the first woman to finish that year. This result might seem very common (普通) now, but 44 years ago, there were very few people knew about marathon running in China, let alone participating (参与).

As she grew older, Luo became interested in volunteer work of marathon games. Now at the age of 69, she didn't join in the running competitions, but she still loves the sports and is active in many sports activities in Tianjin.

At the 2024 Tianjin Marathon held on Oct 20th, Luo was busy cheering the players up and introducing Marathon to people online by her mobile phone.

"40 years ago, people first took care of food, clothes, and daily needs. The interests for sports and fitness (身材匀称) were very rare. It was difficult to find a running partner. At that time, marathon (running) was a lonely sport," Luo said, "But now it is a whole different story."

At the age of 70, Luo says she wants to put on her running shoes again and return to the game.

①One morning when Li Tao woke up, he jumped out of his bed happily. He had a great idea. He would build a tree house! Li Tao asked his dad, "Is it OK if I build a tree house in the old tree outside the house?"

⑤Early that night, Li Tao asked his brother to lend him a sleeping bag because he wanted to spend the night in the new tree house. 

⑥"Sure," said his brother. "Can I go with you?"

⑦"Of course, you can," Li Tao smiled. Then they both ran upstairs to get ready.
