Food is interesting. It's also interesting that different food has different meanings in different countries.

Onions—In Egypt, many farmers use the onion as a symbol of truth. When they have different ideas with each other, they often have an onion in their hands and put it up high to show the truth is in their hands. A town in Switzerland has the Onion Festival. It is on the fourth Monday of November. Food shops and restaurants make all kinds of onion food on that day.

Tomatoes—They are the "Number 1" food. They are a kind of vegetable and a kind of fruit. They are very helpful. They're important to hamburgers and salad. They may taste bad if there are no tomatoes. In some countries of Europe, young men and women often pick tomatoes for each other when they are in love.

Carrots—We can usually see them in vegetable salad. In Netherlands, the carrot, onion and potato are country food. People in some countries call the carrot "Queen".

Potatoes—They have two other names—"apples in the forest" and "the second bread".

We celebrate (庆祝) some special days like New Year's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day and so on. But do you know the following four special days?

Hello! I'm Toby. Today I go to the park in our neighborhood with my friends.

When we get there, we find there are many people there and they're having a great time. Three girls are riding bikes, ten old people are dancing, two women are walking dogs and five boys are having some food. My friends and I begin playing soccer.

After two hours, we stop playing. We find the boys finish eating and that they are leaving. But they leave their garbage (垃圾) there. I see that and I'm angry. I ask them to put their garbage in a bin (垃圾箱) but they don't listen to me. I then get an idea.

I call the park worker and tell him about the boys. The worker stops them and asks them to put the garbage in the bin. He also tells them why they should do it. The boys listen to him and clean up their garbage.

A park is important to everyone in our neighborhood. The neighborhood is our home. What should we do to show our love for it? If you see some people like the boys, what will you do?

Neighborhood Watch is a very useful organization (组织) in my neighborhood. People often ask me about it. I 1 tell them our neighborhood is nice and safe (安全的) because of Neighborhood Watch. 

Now, I'm in the organization, Neighborhood Watch. People here are 2 and we help each other. And we help look after (照看) our neighborhood. We look after people's houses 3 they aren't at home. And we help old people in our neighborhood with some 4 work. 

It's about 8: 00 in the evening. Our Neighborhood Watch 5 are out on a walk. Near a street corner, we 6 two men next to George Black's car. George Black 7 on Star Street. What do the two men 8 ? One is very tall with long hair. And he 9 sunglasses. The other is very short with curly hair. They're 10 something out of George's car. We shout at them. The two men are very 11 and run away, get into a car and drive 12 the street. But we write down their car 13 and call the police. We will help the policemen catch (抓) the two criminals.
