When we were young, people always liked to question us about what kind of job we wanted to have. And some school students said they wanted to be a scientist, a computer programmer, or a (飞行员). 

To be honest, I didn't know what I wanted to be when I was a middle school student. My mother wanted me to be a pianist, but I didn't take it (严肃地) because I couldn't (忍受)practicing it every day. My father wanted me to be an engineer like him, but I thought it was (毫无意义的).

Without this working experience, I could never know what I really wanted.

I dreamed about (travel) to Hong Kong when I was a little boy. And this time my dream finally came true. So when I got to Hong Kong  July 27th, I felt so excited. I know it's one of the (popular) cities in China. It was so hot we ate a lot of ice-cream. I wanted to go to Disneyland for long time, so our trip began in Disneyland. In the park, I saw lots of cartoon (character) such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck made by Walt Disney, a very (talent) man. And we took part in some great activities. Everybody enjoyed themselves. During the following days, we visited many other interesting places. It took us 6 days (learn) about the life and culture there. I (true)hope I can go there again some day. 

What an (enjoy)trip!

Here are some tips for you. 

Before you start reading, ask yourself why you are reading this book. Most people read for two main reasons, pleasure or knowledge. Clearing about your reading purpose can not only help you choose the books you really need to read, but also remind you why reading the book is important to you. 

No matter what you are reading, it is important to enjoy what you read. Your friends may tell you the books they love, but those books might not necessarily be the ones you enjoy. 

You may have chosen the books that you are interested in, and they are right to your purpose(目的). But while you are reading them, there may still be some books that you don't enjoy reading. Whenever you realize that you aren't enjoying the book you are reading, give it up. 

It is interesting that I read the books borrowed from libraries faster than those I bought. The reason is the books I bought don't have a due date(到期日)! I don't need to return those books. Having a reading goal(目标) helps you work out how much reading you need to do in a week or even a day.

It's really important for us to enjoy excellent relationships with the people we like and respect(尊敬), and they like, love and respect us in turn. Fully 85% of your happiness will be decided by the quality of your relationships at each time, and in each place, of your life. How well you get along with people and how much they like, love and respect you, have more effect on quality of your life than perhaps any other reason. 

It's essential to do work that we enjoy, to do it well, and to be paid for it. You want to be able to get and keep the job you want, to be paid more. You want to make the very most that is possible for you at each area(领域), whatever you do. 

It's a great feeling to achieve financial independence(经济独立). You want to reach the point in life where you have enough money so you never have any financial worries. You want to be really free of them. 

The oil paper umbrella is a traditional Chinese handicraft(手工艺品). It has a history of over1, 000 years in China. In early Tang Dynasty, it was introduced to Japan and Korea, so it was called the "Tang Umbrella". Later oil paper umbrellas were spread to other Asian countries, such as Vietnam, Thailand and Laos. 

Yuhang in Hangzhou is famous for making oil paper umbrellas for more than 230 years. They are mainly made of skin paper, bamboo, and a coating of tung oil(桐油). It takes more than 70 steps to make them, including making bamboo ribs, pasting paper and painting patterns. It takes at least a week to make an umbrella. In 2008, these umbrellas were added to Intangible Cultural Heritage List(非物质文化遗产名录)of China

A young man called Liu Weixue learned the traditional art of making Yuhang oil paper umbrellas from his grandfather. He improved the umbrellas to win the heart of young people. As the traditional paper was easy to break, he started to use a different kind of paper. In a test, his umbrellas were opened and closed for 1, 000 times without breaking. He also used a different kind of bamboo to make the umbrellas weigh less. 

Now Liu hopes the art can be passed on, so he goes to local schools to teach students. He also takes part in lots of activities in different places to make the art be known to more people. 

A long time ago, there lived a very wise king. He was so wise that he knew the ways of almost everything. 

One day, a tiny bee lost her way, and flew into the king's beautiful palace. The little bee begged the king, "Please, let me live, and I will offer you help some other day. "

The king was amused(被逗乐的)to think a tiny bee could one day help a powerful king like him. He let the bee go and said, "Go, be on your way, for I need nothing more from you today. "

Many days later, a queen was coming to visit from a faraway land. 

"I hear you are wise, " the queen said to the king. "Would you be willing to put your intelligence(才智) to a test?" The king agreed and the queen did her best, with puzzles, quizzes and difficult questions. But the king solved all the problems perfectly. 

On the last day of her visit, the queen came up with another plan. She ordered the workers to produce ninety-nine fake flowers, but looking so real and natural. When finished, even the queen could not tell they were fake. She was sure the king would make the same mistake. And from the king's garden, she took just one real flower and cleverly hid it among all the others. 

The queen then challenged the king. "My workers created many beautiful flowers. Ninety-nine are fake, but one is real somewhere. Can you find that one?"

The king accepted the challenge again. He smelled the flowers, but they were all so sweet, and all so beautiful. Now which one could the real flower be? The king became a bit nervous. Suddenly, he heard a buzzing sound. Something was there flying around. It was the tiny little bee he saved many days before. "I am here to repay the kindness you gave me, sir. "

The little bee quickly flew over the flowers and stopped on the real one. The king picked the flower and handed it to the queen

Finally, the queen had to give up and told everyone the king was truly the wisest man in the world.

The Change Made Me 

Next week, I' ll set off on a trip to the mountains with my friends. I' ve made some  rules by myself. Here I'd like to share them with you.

●Wear proper clothes, strong shoes and thick  .

●Do not walk too close to the edge of the hill path.

●Do not go off on your own. Keep together.

●Do not drink all your water at the very beginning.

●Always take care when walking on the path.

●Choose  ways instead of curly ones.

●Help each other to put up tents.

●If I'm lost, just stand where I am and shout for help.

●Keep calm when any sudden danger  .

I'm so excited about the coming trip that it's difficult for me to  these days, especially when I think of the exciting rock, fresh air and soft grass.

④When encouragement comes from oneself, it adds to self-confidence. A study invited 72 tennis players to take part in some matches. Researchers divided the players into two groups: one group that said nothing while playing, and the other that talked to themselves while playing. They found that the self-talkers showed more confidence and played better than those in the silent group.

⑤Self-talk also helps to improve memory. Researchers tested four different ways to memorize things: read silently, reading aloud, listening to someone else read and listening to a recording of oneself reading. "Those who read out loud record the information best," Researchers said in their study. It's because the information will probably become a long-term memory if it is said out loud.

Skate boarding, surfing and sport climbing were parts of the 2024 Paris Olympics. But they made their first Olympic appearance at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. These are all popular sports among young people. Would you like to give them a try?
