The Double Ninth Festival is a special day in China. It comes every year on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, and it falls  October 4th this year. There are lots of  (celebration). Most people celebrate by spending time with elderly and doing fun activities together. 

Traditions on this day include enjoying chrysanthemums (菊花) and (climb) to high places such as mountains parks, to enjoy autumn views and wish for happiness. Spending time with older generations needs (abutment), but it strengthens love between family members. 

Respecting the seniors is at the heart of this day. Families visit older relatives, offering gifts and warm conversations. Our government (set) some laws years ago to make sure they get care and respect. 

Communities hold (encourage) activities like singing competitions or craft-making for seniors. If more young people volunteer (help) more often, life for aging populations (improve) greatly. Let's work together to make our elders feel loved and valued!

Gardening is popular in many parts of the world. This outdoor activity gives us beautiful plants, pleasant smelling flowers and fresh fruits and vegetables,

Gardening connects people. When you are gardening, you are outdoors. Most people love to talk about their hobbies, and gardeners are no different. They usually enjoy showing people what they are growing almost as much as sharing flowers and vegetables from their gardens. 

Learn about nature.

It can be a great teacher. They can learn about nature and wildlife. Gardening can teach a child about where food comes from and healthy eating. It can also help them to understand the importance of using natural resources carefully. 

Keep healthy

Gardening gets families outdoors and off computers, televisions and other electronics. You can easily get a good workout (锻炼). Also, when you are in your garden, you might feel the sunshine on your skin. This means you are getting Vitamin D

Deep in the forest, a world full of life unfolds. The tall trees stand like silent guardians(守卫), their branches reaching up to the sky. The leaves rustle (沙沙作响) in the wind, as if they are telling stories of the forest. 

Many animals call the forest home. Squirrels jump from tree to tree, collecting huts. Birds build their nests in the branches, singing cheerfully every morning. Rabbits hide in the bushes, jumping out now and then to take some small bites on the fresh grass. 

    ▲    The plants provide food and shelter (避难所) for the animals. For example, the berries on the bushes are a delicious treat for the birds and small animals. In return, the animals help the plants. Birds spread the seeds of plants when they fly around, allowing new plants to grow in different places. Bees fly from flower to flower, pollinating (授粉) them so they can make fruits and seeds. 

The forest floor is also full of life. Tiny insects help decompose (分解) dead leaves and branches, This makes the soil rich and helps new plants grow in the forest. It's like a big, happy family where everyone has a role to play. 

In Shenzhen, people of all ages have busy and colorful weekly activities. Many teenagers also enjoy playing online games or watching short videos during breaks on platforms like TikTok. 

Young adults often balance work and fun. Fitness lovers hit gyms or cycle around Shenzhen Bay Park. Retirees(退休人员), however, prefer quieter activities. 

Families with kids focus on relaxation. Parents rush between jobs and picking up children, while weekends are for shopping at COCO Park or picnics in parks. 

Recently, in order to understand people's favorite activities in their free time better, some groups of students made a survey about "How do people spend their free time?" The following diagrams show some results of it:
