The lion dance, a traditional Chinese folk art, has kept its fascination for thousands of years. It began in ancient times as a way to drive away cruel spirits and bad luck. Over time, it's not only a festive activity but also brings good luck.

Lions are not from China. It is said that lions first came into China around the Han Dynasty, but the lion dance art started over 500 years later, in the Northerm Wei Dynasty. People used animal hair to make lion-like costumes, then hid inside and copied the movements of the lion. During performances, two people used things like ropes to tease(逗弄) the lion in front, creating fun and lively shows. By the Tang Dynasty, the lion dance had grown popular from nobles(贵族) to common people.

During its thousand-year development, the lion dance has formed two performance styles in the north and south, the Southern Lion and the Northern Lion. The Northern Lion focuses on strong, acrobatic(杂技的)moves, while the Southern Lion is known for colorful costumes and playful actions.

Today, some creative performers mix the Southern Lion and the Northern Lion. It not only keeps the tradition but also makes the performance more interesting and exciting. The"lions" usually interact with watchers during the performances. They blink(眨) their big eyes and get close to the crowd. At this time,people often touch the"lions", hoping to get good luck.

The lion dance has now spread worldwide as a symbol of Chinese culture. During festival s like ChineseNew Year, lion dance shows light up Chinatowns in many countries. Its joyful spirit helps build friendships between different cultures. The dance also shows the courage, energy and creativity of Chinese people.

The Double Third Festival is one of China's oldest traditional festivals. It falls on the third day of the third lunar month. The day is said to be the possible birthday of the Yellow Emperor. He, along with the Yan Emperor, is considered to be the ancestors of Chinese people.

The Double Third Festival activities have changed with the times.  Then in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, people often took a bath in the river on that day to wash away bad luck. Wang Xizhi wrote in his Lantingji Xu about how people took a bath and wrote poems while drinking from cups drifting(漂流) along the river.   After the Ming and Qing dynasties, people did activities like throwing stones, hiking and listening to music.

 These days it is mainly celebrated by the people in the southern parts of China. For the Zhuang people in Guangxi, it is a festival for young people to sing songs and find their true love. For the Li and Miao people in Hainan, it is a day for remembering ancestors. For the Han people, it is a time to go outside to enjoy flowers and cook eggs with jicai. 

The festival was so popular and important in ancient China that many famous poets wrote poems about it.However, the situation has changed in modern times. It is not as famous as it was in ancient times. In 2014, China added Zhuangzi Double Third Festival to a national Intangible Cultural Heritage list to protect cultural heritage, teaching people to value their cultural tradition.

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese way to help people with common health problems. It has  for over 2,000 years in the East, but it isn't used until recently in the West. It was introduced in the US in1971 and then accepted by the healthcare system. People are becoming increasingly worried about the side effects of drugs(药物的副作用), and are turning to  , such as yoga and acupuncture to add to,or sometimes even replace Western medicine.

An event in my life changed my opinion about acupuncture. After several  insomnia, over half a year, I felt mentally(精神上) and  tired, nearing my breaking point. A trip to a doctor   to make things any better. A friend suggested that I try acupuncture. With a fear of needles, I  his advice in the beginning, yet my trouble was still ongoing and getting  to insomnia the point where I was ready to try anything.

So after another sleepless night, I  the only acupuncturist in my area. By taking my pulse (脉搏), looking at my tongue, and asking some questions about my lifestyle, he believed that I was too tired. I found this very amazing since he hadn't asked me I had come to see him. He then inserted a thin  in my right foot and I fell asleep at once. The whole experience was like a miracle(不可思议的事) that I' ve never imagined in my wildest dream before.

When it comes to mobile payment in China, the QR code(二维码) is the king. However, another payment function, NFC, may change that.

Today, NFC technology has been widely used in our daily lives. You can use a phone with NFC to open the door. It can also be used to share a photo or a video. There are even NFC pet tags. The user can get the pet' s important information. And this makes it easy to quickly return a lost pet.

Compared with a QR code, NFC is much more convenient. It is also safer because the payments throughNFC use encryption(加密)—— like a secret code only your bank can read.

In fact, NFC and QR codes are not competitors. Instead, they complement each other. For example, when paying at the way out of a parking lot, QR codes are better because QR codes can be scanned from a distance. However, NFC only works when the phone is a few centimeters from a payment terminal (终端).

Xiushe

Do you know the Chinese saying, "A man who' s 2 satisfied is like a snake trying to swallow(吞)an elephant"? It comes from a story about Xiushe. Xiushe is a large 3 that is hundreds of meters long.According to Shanhaijing, Xiushe once swallowed an elephant. It took the snake three years to spit out all the bones(吐出骨头)!

Huashe

Huashe has the face of a man, the body of a jackal(豺), two 4 of a bird and the tail of a snake. It moves like a snake and cries like a baby. When it cries, a great flood(洪水) follows. In one story, a farmer followed the sound of a baby 5 and found a snake-shaped monster. Three days later, more than 850nearby villages were flooded.
