When I was 10, my father took a job in American Samoa. We traveled there on a new 707 Pan Am jet. I was attached to the stewardesses, as they were called then. How helpful and nice they were. Twenty years later, I headed to Honolulu for training to become a Pan Am stewardess—the best job ever.

Sometimes I really doubt whether there is love between my parents. Every day they are busy trying to make money in order to support our family. They donˈt act in the1 ways that I read in books or I see on TV. For them, "I love you" is too difficult to say. Even sending flowers to each other on some special days is hardly ever2 .
