A team of clever engineers, data scientists and nature scientists are restoring wild areas hit by natural disasters. By using drones (无人机) together with artificial intelligence (AI), they can plant seeds 25 times more quickly than doing it by hand. AI is a computer system that can "think" and perform tasks usually requiring human intelligence.
In a foreign country, flooding and wildfires are becoming more common as the climate changes. Extreme weather (极端天气) can make whole living areas disappear in a short time, and it takes years for trees to grow back and ecosystems to recover. When disasters happen, people often replant by hand, but this is slow and difficult.
AirSeed uses AI-controlled drones to airdrop special seed parcels (种子包裹). Each seed parcel is designed to fit its drop area. The place is recorded-geo-tagging-so people can check the task's success. Andrew Walker, AirSeed's boss, says, "We have to restore forests over 30–40 years. We can't do that with traditional ways. "
This mix of AI, drones and biotechnology helps reforest faster. AirSeed can drop as many as 40,000 seed parcels a day—25 times faster and 80% cheaper than hand-planting. When trees return, everything else improves. Walker says, "It's not just about planting a tree. Trees support wildlife, make air clean and restore soil. "
(1)、What do engineers and scientists use to restore wild areas?A、Hand-planting. B、Natural recovery. C、Drones with Al. D、A computer system.(2)、What happens after extreme weather in that country?A、Hand-planting is fast. B、Ecosystems recover at speed. C、Trees can grow back quickly. Dolphins often jump out of the waves and turn in the air. It looks like fun, but it's also hard work. So why do they do it? Scientists have found several reasons.
Dolphins live in groups and use sound to stay in touch. Underwater, it's hard to see far, so when a dolphin jumps and hits the water, the loud noise tells others where it is. Some can turn up to seven times in one jump!
Jumping also helps with hunting and cleaning. The splash (水花) can drive fish together, making them easier to catch. And when small fish called remoras (吸盘鱼) stick to dolphins, a good jump can knock them off.
Besides these practical reasons, dolphins are smart and playful. They may jump just for fun, sometimes playing with other animals or even humans.
Finally, water creates drag—a force that slows things down. Jumping into the air lets dolphins travel faster, helping them get away from danger or catch food. They can jump as high as a giraffe, up to six metres!
So next time you see a dolphin jump, remember: it might be talking, hunting, cleaning, playing, or just having a good time.
(1)、How do dolphins communicate by jumping?A、Catch food. B、Turn in air. C、Make loud noise. D、Knock remoras off.(2)、What can the splash from a dolphin jump do?A、Remove small fish. B、Drive fish together. C、Let dolphins sleep. D、Make dolphins tired.(3)、How does jumping help dolphins get away from danger?A、It removes drag. B、It makes a splash. C、It cleans their skin. D、It helps them move faster.(4)、What can we infer about dolphins from the passage?A、They live alone underwater. B、They like cleaning themselves. C、They enjoy playing with others. D、They jump higher than a giraffe.(5)、What is the main idea of the passage?A、Where dolphins live. B、How to protect dolphins. C、How to watch dolphins swim. D、Why dolphins jump out of water. -

In curling (冰壶运动), one player pushes a heavy stone across the ice. Why sweep? First, sweeping warms the ice. The ice on top turns into water, so the stone can slide farther and more smoothly. The relationship between children and parents is very important in life. As children grow, their feelings toward their parents change. In early childhood, they depend on their parents for love, food, and safety. But when they become teenagers, they start to want more independence. They may sometimes question their parents' rules.
Good communication, mutual respect, and spending time together can help build a healthy relationship. When parents listen to their children and children respect family rules, there are fewer problems.
However, conflicts can still happen. Common causes include parents making rules that children think are unfair, or children not sharing their feelings clearly. When there is a conflict, some children become silent or angry, while parents may feel disappointed.
Experts give some simple advice based on research. According to a study from Brown University, using "I" statements (like "I feel worried when you are late") instead of "You" statements makes conflicts easier to solve. Actually, many teens don't know how to express feelings clearly, so parents play a more important role in solving conflicts. They should stay calm and guide the conversation first.
With patience and these simple ways, most parent-child conflicts can be solved, and their relationship can become stronger.
(1)、When do children depend on their parents for love, food and safety?(2)、What three things can help build a healthy parent-child relationship?(3)、How do the parents feel when there is a conflict with their children?(4)、Which makes conflicts easier to solve, "I" statements or "You" statements?(5)、Why parents are regarded as a key role in solving conflicts? -

A. Honesty is the key to making new friends.

C. These lies are not bad,but full of love and care.
D. He is afraid that you will laugh at him for his grades.

Some people lie just because they are scared. For example,a friend may hide his bad exam result(结果) from you. This is the moment when you should encourage your friend and give him some support.
People also tell"white lies"because of kindness. For example, when our parents are tired after a long day's work, they may say they are not tired at all, just to keep us from worrying.
Although it seems strange, they believe they can achieve their dream by saying it over and over again. This usually happens when people want something very much.
Lies can grow bigger and get out of control(控制). If you start with a small lie,you will need more lies to cover it up. It is always good to stop making new lies and tell the truth.

The goal of this activity is clear. We need to make sure every sign is correct, easy to read and well kept. In this way,we can build a kinder, more welcoming and standard multilingual(多语言的) environment for the city.
It is easy for everyone to take part in this activity. People can use the mini program(小程序) called Volunteer Shenzhen to report problems. For example, they can report wrong or missing foreign-language signs through the mini program. The mini program will also get the location information by itself. The activity tells us,"Every time you record a wrong sign, you are helping Shenzhen get better. "
Now Shenzhen is counting down to the APEC meetings. The city is calling on every person to join the"Woodpecker Action". After all,a warm, clear and friendly city will leave the best impression on visitors from home and abroad. Let's work together to make every small detail of our city perfect.

Have you ever seen a seal with an eel(鳗鱼) in its nose?It sounds like something from a cartoon, but it really happened in the sea near Hawaii.
Hawaiian monk seals(夏威夷僧海豹) had this strange problem. Scientists found eels stuck inside their noses. How did this happen? No one knows for sure, but the eels could make the seals sick. So scientists acted quickly. They worked carefully and pulled the eels out. The seals got better, but sadly, the eels did not live.
Scientists have two ideas about why this happened. The first idea is about how seals find food. In science class,we learn that animals have different ways to catch food. Seals love to eat eels. But eels are smart-they hide in the sand. To catch them, seals push their faces into the sand. Sometimes,an eel gets very scared. When that happens,it may swim into the seal's nose by mistake. The second idea is about how seals' bodies work. Seals sometimes bring food back up from their stomach. By doing so,they can get sand and water out, just like we might cough to clear our throat. So,when a seal does this,an eel in its stomach might come out through its nose by accident.
No one knows which idea is right. But one thing is clear:these seals needed help, and scientists were there to save them. It shows that even in nature, animals need a helping hand sometimes.
