Many classical Chinese poems have been widely  for thousands of years.

A poem is a creative (有创造力的) way to show your ideas and views in words. Many writers enjoy poems because there are no real rules of writing a poem.

★Choose a subject

When thinking about what to write, pay attention to what's around you.  It can be anything from your favorite sport to your dream city. You can also get ideas from something that is important to you, such as protecting the animals.

★Start writing

 Write down anything that you are interested in, from colors to sounds. From there, you can start writing your poem. Once you have a draft (初稿) ready, you can put it away for a day. Then read your poem again and improve it.

★Share it with someone

After you finish your poem, read it to a family member, a teacher, or even your pet.  Remember, read it aloud (大声地) to others. They will be glad to share the feelings from your poem with you.

When you finish high school or university, is learning done? The answer is "no". In many countries, people continue learning all their lives. Why is lifelong learning important? How can it help you? Let's look at one example of lifelong learning in Japan.

Why is lifelong learning important?

You go to school and learn. You take tests. But learning doesn't only happen in school. And learning doesn't stop when you graduate from high school or college. You are learning all the time. For example, learning can happen when you go to a museum. It can also happen when you get a job. You learn when you play a sport or when you take a trip. Learning is life! We never stop learning. Every day, you can improve yourself by learning something new.

Lifelong learning in Japan

In Japan, life learning is very important. People in Japan like to try new learning activities. Music calligraphy, flower arranging, and foreign languages are some of their favorite classes. The Japanese take classes to improve their skills and learn new things.

Conclusion

When we graduate from school, we can continue to learn. Make lifelong learning one of your goals!

Last fall a beaver(海狸) moved into the small stream(小溪；溪流) beside our house. He began taking down small trees right away, and in a couple of weeks our stream turned into a pond(水塘). Every day, he added more to his dam(水坝) and to his house. We're sure you've all heard the saying, "as busy as a beaver". Now, we understand this saying as we saw the work that this beaver did over a very short period(时期) of time.

We thought that would be the last of the beaver's busy activity as winter came. To our amazement, however, he started chewing(咀嚼) on a very large tree. The tree was over 18 metres tall and around 1.5 metres in diameter(直径). We were amazed at the challenge(挑战) this beaver was trying. All winter, he chewed and chewed. He had setbacks(挫折) as we faced major winter storms and ice cold weather. But sure enough, when the weather allowed, he would come back and chew a bit more.

The beaver's first goal(目标) was to survive(生存)—to build home for the winter. Working every day with that goal in mind, he successfully achieved that goal. But the large tree he started chewing on last fall was a future goal—he wanted the large tree to provide new food and branches(树枝) for the coming spring. Even with the setbacks he faced over the winter, he never gave up until he reached it.

Our beaver's experience reminds us that we need to set goals for tomorrow. Sometimes just surviving seems to take up all of our time. But, if you do just a little bit when time allows and stick to your future goal, you will achieve it.

When faced with setbacks, have your goal in heart and don't let the setbacks stop you. Keep chewing like the beaver, and you will achieve(实现；获得) your goal in the end.

Why do we read, and sometimes even write poetry? This question is easy to answer if we change the word poetry to songs.

I sing when I feel good. When I sing my favourite songs, I feel much better. Sometimes when I am listening to music and the song words, I feel that they are written for me. A good song always makes me feel something. There are songs that I sing in my head between classes and songs that I want to sing when the school is over. They help me spend the day.

They are like bright and warm colours in the middle of greys and shades. I like songs about love and friendship. My feelings are more special when I sing my favourite songs in English.

I also like reading. I used to avoid (避免) poetry until an e-pal told me I should recite poems and not look up the meaning of the words. Poetry uses many difficult words and idioms (习语), but the best thing is to just forget about them. At first I felt quite strange. Now I always close the door and read aloud. Reading aloud gives you a strange feeling, but when you have some practice and fall into the rhythm (韵律), the rhyme (押韵) and the sounds of the words, it is really a special experience (体验).

I began with small poems, but now I think I like long poems best. I have different feelings with different poems. When I have had a bad day at school, I read Keats and forget everything. When I am sad, I read Wordsworth by the light of a candle. When the poem is finished, I close the book and my sadness is gone.

Once a young man was travelling by train. It was a long and boring journey.

This is a true story. It tells us that discovery is very important to success Many people have got new ideas from it.

Stay Healthy

Hello, everyone.  We know it's important to stay healthy.  

What can we eat and drink to be healthy? Water is very important.  It is good for us.  Everyone needs to drink at least 6—8 glasses of water every day.  Do you drink enough water every day? ① Eat lots of fruit and vegetables every day.  They are very good for us. So we have got enough fruit and vegetables at home.  Eat lots of rice, bread and noodles.  They can give you energy.  Eat a little meat and cheese.  These things can help you grow strong, but they are unhealthy.  Eat a little sweet food.  ②太多的糖果对你没好处。We haven't got any candy at home.  Remember: to be healthy we must eat and drink healthy things every day.  

There are so many beautiful places around the world, but my recommendation for travelling is Xinjiang.  To me, Xinjiang is like the dreamland full of wonderful landscapes (风景) and amazing 1 . 

Xinjiang is in the 2 of China.  The 3 there is very pleasant.  It's sunny, cool and dry.  It has a combination ( 混合) of different types of natural landscapes, from lakes, 4 , meadows (草地), snow mountains to desert.  It's a magical place and all you need to do is to stand wherever you like and take 5 , just like me!

There are so many delicious foods such as mutton, 6 , local yogurt, fresh fruits and, of course, raisins (葡萄干).  Among all of them, the most 7 foods are kebabs (烤肉串) and a local pancake which we call nang.  

I had so much fun and so many great memories in Xinjiang.  I tried new 8 every day.  For example, I dressed in local people's beautiful clothes.  I 9 camels and even walked across a small part of a desert.  To me, it is not only an interesting 10 , but also a journey of discovery (发现) and adventure (冒险). 

During the cold winter, we usually catch a cold, have a fever or a cough.  There are some common and great ways that you can follow to keep yourself away from these problems. 

Never leave your house without warm clothes.  It might be sunny in the morning or daytime but it is getting colder as the sun sets.  So make sure you have a sweater or a coat for the colder night. 

Don't walk without shoes in your house.  We have a habit of staying in bare feet at home.  The cold passes from feet to head in no time and that is why we need to wear shoes to stay away from the cold. 

Drinking ginger (姜) tea helps your body get warm during the colder days.  Drinking green tea keeps your body healthy and solves many health problems.  Green tea is even good for those who want to get thinner. 

Still if you catch a cold, do not let the cold build up in your body.  It's better to take quick action against the cold through proper exercise.  Do some warm-up exercises in the morning or rub (摩擦) your hands quickly.  Jogging or yoga also helps your body become warm to stay away from the cold and fever. 

Follow these simple ways, and you'll enjoy the winter greatly.
